Ford Performance NASCAR: Indianapolis XFINITY Series Post-Race Quotes

Ford Performance NXS Notes and Quotes
Lilly Diabetes 250 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Saturday, July 23, 2016

Ford Finishing Order:
8th – Joey Logano
12th – Jeb Burton
13th – Ryan Reed
14th – Darrell Wallace Jr.

DARRELL WALLACE JR. – No. 6 EcoBoost Ford Mustang – WHAT HAPPENED AT THE START OF THE RACE, WHERE YOU HAD TO PIT BEFORE THE GREEN FLAG? “That was just unfortunate and explains how our luck is going. We rolled off for the main and it just started sputtering and the motor shut off. I switched distributors and it fired back up, so I’m like, ‘Great, we have an electrical issue.’ So we came in and we’ve never had that happen before. We think it was just hot fuel in the carburetor from the heat race and just kind of stalled us out. I didn’t know we’d go to the back for that, but that’s just the way our season has gone. We came back and salvaged a decent finish, but it’s not the day we wanted. Hopefully, the fans enjoyed the show and hopefully they stayed cool because it was a hot one.”

RYAN REED – No. 16 Lilly/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang – “It was uneventful. We made a lot of progress from where we started. Yesterday in practice we were like an 18th-place car, so I felt like at the end of the race we were a top-10 car. We were passing top-10 cars and it was just tough. We were behind and started behind. We’ve got to unload off the truck better and we won’t be a few adjustments behind all weekend. We’re learning. That was by far my best run ever at Indy, so there is a bright side, but we want to knock down these top 10s.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – “It is pretty hot. I don’t know. We had a fifth place car and we stepped on ourselves a bit there and turned it into an eighth place finish. We should have finished a little better than that. We have to clean it up. If we aren’t fast, we have to be able to execute and right now we can’t do either. We just aren’t fast enough right now, I am not sure what else to say about it. It is frustrating, that is for sure. If we do everything perfect we finish in the top-five.”

JEB BURTON, No. 98 Estes Ford Mustang – “We started off decent and passed some cars on the first restart and started struggling and fell back to 16th. We were too tight. We worked and worked on it and finally that late caution came out. John Hanson made a good adjustment and we had a great pit stop. We were able to get past the 16 and 6, got the lucky dog and felt like we were probably a 10th place car at the end. We just needed another caution to truly get caught back up. I am really proud of everyone and I am looking forward to getting back in the 98 again soon.”
