SMITHLEY SET FOR MID-OHIO

LEXINGTON, Ohio – Garrett Smithley is ready to take another shot at road racing.

In last week’s Xfinity Series race at the Watkins Glen International road course, Smithley ran only 13 laps before parking his Chevrolet with overheating issues. This Saturday, he hits the road again at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the Mid-Ohio Challenge.

“Last week was disappointing, for sure,” Smithley said. “The race was barely underway when we had to pull in. We’re looking for much better this week. I like road racing. We’ll be ready.”

Saturday’s race will be Smithley’s first at Mid-Ohio, a 2.085-mile, 13-turn course.

Practice is scheduled at Mid-Ohio at 9 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. Friday, with qualifying set for 6:15 p.m. Saturday’s race is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
