SMITHLEY READY FOR THE ROAD

ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. – Garrett Smithley hopes to improve on his previous road-course finishes in Saturday’s Road America 180 at the Road America course in Wisconsin.

Smithley finished 39th at Watkins Glen International and 24th at Mid-Ohio in the Xfinity Series’ two previous road course races this year. Now it’s on to the tough 14-turn Road America layout.

“I enjoy the road courses,” Smithley said. “It takes a few laps to get the hang of it, but when you have a good car it’s a lot of fun. We’ll be gunning for a strong finish at Road America.”

Smithley sits 17th in Xfinity Series points entering the Road America race.

Practice is scheduled at 10 a.m. and noon (ET) Friday, to be followed by qualifying at 6:35 p.m. The race will get the green flag at 3 p.m. Saturday.
