Brian Scott Kicks off Chicago Weekend with Shopping Cart Race at Local Jewel-Osco Friday

Jewel-Osco, Shore Lodge to Adorn Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

Brian Scott and the No. 44 Jewel-Osco team have a busy weekend ahead in Chicago, both on and off the track. Jewel-Osco, a banner store of Albertsons Companies, will be on the hood of Scott’s No. 44 Ford Fusion, and fans will have several opportunities to meet Scott away from the track in Chicago. Scott has experience and success at the intermediate 1.5-mile tri-oval in the XFINITY Series and is looking to use that knowledge to his advantage for Sunday’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400.

Through 11 starts in the XFINITY Series, Scott has an average finish of 9.9, with two Top-Five finishes and six Top-10 finishes, finishing as high as third twice (Summer 2010 and Fall 2011). Scott also earned three poles in Fall 2011 and both races in 2014. Scott also has one Sprint Cup Series start at Chicagoland Speedway, finishing 22nd.

Albertsons Companies banner stores, including Jewel-Osco, are teaming up with Smithfield Foods to offer race fans a chance to drive like a “king” and win a replica of Richard Petty’s 1967 Belvedere. Now through September 27, fans can enter for the Winning 43 experience by visiting any Jewel-Osco store, purchasing three or more Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan’s Famous or Margherita branded products, and texting a photo of their receipt to 82257 along with a keyword found at their local store to win the Belvedere.

To promote the Winning 43 experience, Scott and teammate Aric Almirola will be participating in a different style of race than the drivers are used to. The two drivers will compete in a grocery shopping cart race at Jewel-Osco in Plainfield, teaming up with customers to grab the most items in their cart, racing against a three-minute time period. The customer on the winning team will receive a gift card of the value of items in their cart. The event will be open to the public.

When: Friday, September 16 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. CT
Where: Jewel Osco, 2480 Route 59, Plainfield, IL 60544

Fans will also have two additional opportunities to meet Scott in the Chicago area throughout the weekend.

“I’m looking forward to heading to Chicagoland this weekend. I’ve run really well there in the XFINITY Series, and I know I can carry that experience over to the Sprint Cup Series. We had good runs earlier this season at intermediate tracks, so I know the program at Richard Petty Motorsports can put together some good cars and have speed off the truck. While we may not be contending for a championship this season, we never stop contending for wins, and that’s what our focus will be on these next 10 weeks.”
