DEARBORN, Mich., September 13, 2016 – Although the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion won’t be a factor in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup this Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway, Ryan Blaney and Wood Brothers Racing intend to be a factor in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 as well as every other race remaining on the schedule.
The team expects to bounce back from its 39th-place finish last weekend in Richmond with a strong run at Chicagoland.
High expectations are based on Blaney’s past Cup success on intermediate tracks like Chicagoland and three top-5 finishes in past Camping World Truck Series and XFINITY Series races at the Joliet, Ill. facility.
Last year, qualifying was rained out and the Wood Brothers’ iconic No. 21 did not see action.
“I’ve always liked Chicago in whatever series I’ve driven. It’s a fun track that suits my driving style. Hopefully we won’t have to worry about missing the race this year. There is a certain respect you need to have with the Chase cars, but at the same time you’re not going to pull over and give them a win.”
— Ryan Blaney

Wood Brothers Racing
Wood Brothers Racing was formed in 1950 in Stuart, Va., by Hall of Famer Glenn Wood. Wood Brothers Racing is the oldest active team and one of the winningest teams in NASCAR history. Since its founding, the team won 98 races (including at least one race in every decade for the last seven decades) and 117 poles in NASCAR’s top-tier series. Fielding only Ford products for its entire history, the Wood Brothers own the longest association of any motorsports team with a single manufacturer. Glenn’s brother, Leonard, is known for inventing the modern pit stop. The team currently runs the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion driven by Ryan Blaney in the famous number 21 racecar.
