ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Kentucky

Saturday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Kentucky Speedway will mark Ryan Reed’s sixth start at the 1.5-mile track.  In his previous five starts, Reed’s best finish of 11th came in this race in 2014.  Earlier this summer at Kentucky Speedway, Reed qualified his No. 16 Ford in seventh and had a fast Mustang until a tire issue, followed by a broken part sent Reed and team to the garage for lengthy repairs.  Reed would finish the night in 29th.

The Chase

The inaugural XFINITY Series Chase kicks off this weekend at Kentucky Speedway.  Reed enters the Chase seeded in 10th, just 12 points behind leader Erik Jones.  The first three rounds of the Chase consist of races at Kentucky Speedway, Dover International Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Following the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, four contenders will be eliminated from the Chase.

Chicagoland Recap

Reed and the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association team finished 32nd at Chicagoland Speedway in the last regular season race before the Chase for the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship.  Reed’s race was cut short on Lap 101, when contact with the No. 42 sent Reed into the wall. The damage was too severe to repair.

2016 Season

Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 26 races. He has recorded one top-five and four top-10 finishes, led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.6.

Reed on Kentucky

“I’m really looking forward to kicking the Chase off at Kentucky this weekend.  We had a really fast Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Mustang there earlier this season, but we just didn’t get the finish we were looking for.  We qualified really well last time around, and I think we can do the same this weekend too.  We just have to have a mistake-free weekend and start the Chase off on the right foot.  I’m excited to get going.”

Meet Ryan

Reed will take part in the Chase Field Autograph Session at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday, September 24th at 3:00 p.m. The session will take place in the Fan Midway, between Gates 17 and 18.  Wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 2 p.m. at the session location.

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Kentucky Speedway on Saturday, September 24th at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN and PRN.
