Dakoda Armstrong Closes Season with Top-20 Finish

HOMESTEAD, FLORIDA (November 21, 2016) – Dakoda Armstrong’s first season with JGL Racing was a work in progress with the last month of the season showing the positive progress made. In the NASCAR XFINITY Series season finale, Dakoda steered his No. 28 WinField Toyota to a 19th place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“We brought a new car with us this week and it has very good speed in it during our practice sessions on Friday,” said Armstrong.  “We just fought the track a little on Saturday with qualifying and the race.  We got our No. 28 WinField Toyota better throughout the race and the track changed in our favor.  In all, a decent way to finish off the season.”

While battling a very loose race car in qualifying earlier in the day, Dakoda would start the 200-lap event from the 25th position.  The early portion of the race would see Armstrong patiently pick off positions as the No. 28 WinField seemed good on the bottom of the track.  The JGL Racing crew would utilize multiple pit stops for helpful adjustments as well as much needed tires.  As the race entered the final 100 laps of the season Dakoda had worked his way inside the top-20.

Armstrong would use the second half of the race to maintain his top-20 position as he continued to adjust to the handling of his No. 28 WinField Toyota as the track changed with nightfall.  When the checkered flag flew on the season, Dakoda would come home with his 22nd top-20 finish of the season.

“I have really enjoyed my first season with JGL Racing,” added Dakoda.  “The guys on this team have worked hard all year and we made great progress and I think that showed in our speed late in the season.  I appreciate the support of WinField and look forward to getting back behind the wheel in Daytona.”

The 19th-place finish kept Armstrong in the 13th position in the final overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers’ standings.
