GMS Racing Announces NASCAR XFINITY Program Crew Chief

Statesville, N.C. (December 3, 2016– GMS Racing announced today that Joey Cohen will return as crew chief for the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) program in 2017. Gallagher competed in seven races this past season with Cohen atop the pit box. The Chesapeake, Va., native helped steer Gallagher to earn his highest finish of eighth place at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). In 2016, Cohen also served as crew chief for Ben Kennedy, collecting both the driver and crew chief’s first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Bristol Motor Speedway. Going into the season opener at DIS, Gallagher and Cohen look to build on the success of the 2016 season and continue to establish a strong NXS program for GMS Racing.

“I am looking forward to the 2017 Xfinity racing season and working with Spencer again,” said Cohen. “He showed a great deal of growth and performance gains on the limited Xfinity schedule last year as well as the speed he displayed late in the season with the truck. We are excited for the challenge the series brings and will be preparing diligently in the off-season to start strong, be a consistent competitor, and work towards the goal of getting Spencer in the Chase. GMS has taken a great steps in setting us up for success in 2017.”
