Pink is in! Chevrolet Camaro SS Pace Car and Start/Finish Line to Sport Pink at Talladega Superspeedway’s 1000Bulbs.com 500

Efforts Benefitting American Cancer Society ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ Campaign

TALLADEGA, Ala. – In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October, the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car will be on track at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR Playoff 1000Bulbs.com 500 on Sunday, October 14, in efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society in its work to save lives from breast cancer. Furthermore, the track will splash the start/finish line with a fresh coat of paint, changing the look of the black and white checkered pattern to give it a pink and black flair.

While pink is not a color often found in the garage or on the 33-degree banking of NASCAR’s Most Competitive track, the prevalence of pink is a good thing. The pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car will lead the field to the green flag in the pivotal 1000Bulbs.com 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event, the second race (of three) in the Round of 12 of the playoffs. If a playoff driver wins the event, he will advance to the Round of 8.

In addition to leading the field to kick off the 1000Bulbs.com 500 with the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car, Chevrolet is contributing $350 for every lap run under caution during the race – up to $50,000. That means the vibrant pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car leads the field on those laps, further raising awareness for an important fight. Talladega’s start/finish line is unique in its location, 1,250 feet from the center of the Tri-Oval – where many exciting races have been won and lost over the years – towards Turn 1.

Before Sunday’s on-track pace car action, Chevrolet will host 25 breast cancer survivors prior to the start of Saturday’s (Oct. 13) Talladega 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Playoff race. The group will be treated that morning to a NASCAR experience complete with pink souvenir bags and hot laps by two of NASCAR’s top Chevy drivers around the mammoth venue in the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car. Afterward, the survivor group will watch the Talladega 250, the final race in the Round of 8 where the field of eligible title contenders will be trimmed from eight to six at the checkered flag.

Chevrolet continues to support the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign for the eighth year in a row by raising both awareness and contributions within the automotive industry. Since 2011, Chevrolet, together with dealers and GM Employees, has raised nearly $10 million for the initiative through many national and grassroots activities.

Talladega Superspeedway’s doubleheader NASCAR Playoff weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 12, with qualifying for the Talladega 250 at 4:35 p.m. CDT. Saturday’s slate includes the running of the Talladega 250 at noon CDT followed by Foodland/Food Giant Qualifying for the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at 3:35 p.m. CDT. Sunday will showcase some of the world’s best drivers dueling it out in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at 1 p.m. CDT. In addition, Sunday ticket holders can enjoy access to the Saturday Night Infield Concert presented by Wind Creek Casino and Hotel, located in the famous infield, featuring country music artist Chris Janson.
