Majeski Finishes 18th in Phoenix Debut

AVONDALE, Ariz. (November 10, 2018) — Ty Majeski battled back from starting at the rear of the field to cross the line 18th Saturday afternoon at ISM Raceway in his first-ever start at the 1-mile track in the No. 60 Ford Performance Mustang.

The Seymour, Wisconsin, native was forced to the rear of the field after the No. 60 failed pre-race inspection and therefore did not turn a lap in qualifying. However, Majeski made quick work of the back half of the field, making his way to 26th on the first lap before a caution was displayed. After restarting 24th following the early yellow, Majeski found his way inside the top-20 by lap 20.

He went on to end the first stage in 17th, battling tight conditions in the center and free handling on exit. A solid pit stop and work on the car put the No. 60 out of pit road in 13th, where Majeski would begin stage two. Still fighting the same conditions, Majeski crossed the line 17th again to end the second 45-lap stage.

The Xfinity Series rookie rolled off 13th for the final stage, and was 16th when a yellow was displayed at lap 136. Following another pit stop to fine tune the car, Majeski restarted 14th before being spun out just two laps later, putting him to the rear of the field. However, the No. 60 didn’t suffer any damage, and would go on to cross the line 18th in the 200-lap race.

The 60 returns to action next weekend for the final race of the 2018 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway with Chase Briscoe back behind the wheel. Race coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and MRN next Saturday.
