Ty Dillon Avoids Wreck, Finishes Fifth in Duel No. 2

Ty Dillon avoided catastrophe in the final laps of Duel No. 2 Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway and drove the No. 95 Cheerios/Kroger Chevrolet SS to a fifth-place finish. Dillon was racing outside the top ten when the “big one” happened, but he dove low on the race track and missed having his car damaged. The fifth place finish qualified Dillon 12th for the 58th running of the Daytona 500 this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

TY DILLON QUOTE:
“What an exciting finish. I’m fortunate to have a great spotter on top of the roof, my dad, Mike Dillon – he’s one of the best in the business. It’s a great feeling to be in the Daytona 500 for the second consecutive year. More importantly, our race car has very minimal front-end damage from contact with the 20 car. We’ll be fine for the race Sunday. Great to see our teammate, Michael McDowell, make the race tonight, too. I want to thank Circle Sport and the Leavine Family, Cheerios and Kroger. We’ll be competing for a win on Sunday.”
