PREECE TAKES ON DARLINGTON

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Fresh off his best finish of the XFINITY Series season, Ryan Preece will take on the challenge of tough ol’ Darlington Raceway this weekend.

Preece will drive the G&K Services Chevrolet in Saturday’s VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200, marking his debut at Darlington, one of auto racing’s most difficult speedways.

“Darlington is a magical kind of place,” Preece said. “I’ve heard and read so much about it over the years. It will be a fantastic opportunity to get to drive there. I know I have a lot to learn.”

Preece finished 11th last week at Road America, marking the best run of his rookie season.

Preece’s Chevy will carry an 01 number similar to that raced by Greenville, S.C. Late Model Sportsman champion Butch Lindley. The salute to Lindley, one of the best short-track racers in stock car racing history, is part of Darlington’s Throwback Weekend.

Practice is scheduled at noon and 2:30 p.m. (ET) Friday. Qualifying is set for 11:45 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3:30 p.m.
