The F.O.E. was founded in 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician’s strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and form “The Order of Good Things.” As numbers grew, members changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles.” Presently F.O.E. membership is almost one million strong, with more than 1,700 local aeries in the U.S. and Canada. Women’s auxiliaries total more than 1,500, with more than 335,000 members. Among its many accomplishments the F.O.E. counts the founding of Mother’s Day and esteemed members include seven former U.S. Presidents.

• Nice Start… Buescher captured his first career pole position three weeks ago when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visited Texas Motor Speedway. James Buescher on driving at Kentucky Speedway

“Kentucky Speedway is a great facility. We all look forward to going there and know it is going to be a great race. There will be added excitement this weekend with the addition of the Sprint Cup Series race. To be successful at the track your truck has to be versatile. The track is worn out and you have to be able to move around to find as much grip as possible.

“Our Exide Batteries team has been consistently a top-five truck. We have really made headway in the points since early March and it is because of the hard work and dedication of all the guys that work on these Silverados at Turner Motorsports. If we continue to run in the top-five week in and week out, the wins will come.”
