NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 22 of 25 – Talladega Superspeedway
ONE OF SEVEN: In the 51 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series career victories that four-time champion Ron Hornaday has collected, the 2.66-mile tri-oval of Talladega Superspeedway is one of seven tracks on the series schedule that the veteran driver has yet to make it to victory lane. Hornaday will be making his sixth start at the Alabama superspeedway behind the wheel of the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies Chevrolet Silverado during the Coca-Cola 250 powered by fred’s this Saturday afternoon.
HUNTING FOR ANOTHER VICTORY: Bad Boy Buggies will return for their final Truck Series appearance of the season with the No. 2 KHI team. The sports utility vehicle industry leader has partnered with KHI four times thus far this season earning one victory courtesy of Clint Bowyer at Kansas Speedway. The team has collected a total of four top-five and four top-10 finishes during the season while sporting the black and camouflage paint scheme.
DRIVE FOR FIVE STILL ALIVE: Hornaday’s dominating win at Las Vegas cut his gap to first place in the Driver’s Point standings almost in half. With four races remaining in the season, the veteran driver sits fourth, 21 points out of the lead, and in contention for his fifth championship.
SUPERSPEEDWAY SUCCESS: During the span of five seasons, KHI has fielded nine entries at Talladega. In those nine starts, KHI has collected one pole (Hornaday, 2010), one top-five and three top-10 finishes and has been credited with leading 50 laps at the 2.66-mile track.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies team will unload chassis No. 053 when they head to Talladega Superspeedway. This chassis was last used in competition during the season opener in February at Daytona International Speedway when Elliott Sadler drove to a second-place finish after staring in the sixth position.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Hornaday and the No. 2 Champion Chevrolet Silverado were the dominate team last weekend during the Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The driver captured his first pole of the season and led 107 of the scheduled 146 laps before bringing home the sixth win of the season for the No. 2 team and Hornaday’s fourth. The victory marked back-to-back wins for Hornaday and his first at the speedway.
HORNADAY’S THOUGHTS ON TALLADEGA:
What are your expectations going into the race at Talladega?
“I’m looking forward to be back in the No. 2 truck this weekend. With four races to go, Talladega is a track where we will just have to hold our breath all weekend and hope we don’t get caught in the big one. We are in the midst of this championship battle and would really like to make it out of Talladega with momentum. I haven’t won at Talladega yet so that would be an even bigger motivation step for this No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies team.”
