GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion – “I’m still shaking because we were really close to having to pull out the back-up. I drove it down into one and two and it just swept the bottom perfectly, but then it took off like it wasn’t going to stop. I just rolled up on it and let the car move up and it stopped, so then I pushed it back down and it came off the corner. It didn’t end being as bad as I thought, but when it first took off I thought we were in trouble. I drove it down into three and four pretty good, but getting back to the gas I pushed it down a little easier.”
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion – “I thought it was a pretty good lap because it felt pretty good, but it wasn’t very fast. Our race trim package is real fast, though. I think all the Fords are gonna be tough to beat here. I think it’ll be just like Texas with long runs and cars sliding around. I think we’ve got a good Aflac Fusion for that, but I’m definitely disappointed with qualifying. I thought we’d be a lot better.”
ARIC ALMIROLA – No. 43 STP Ford Fusion – “I was just loose and we weren’t expecting that. We were the opposite in practice yesterday, so that kind of caught us all off guard. We wanted to have a better lap than that, but we didn’t so we’ll see where that stacks up and go race hard tomorrow for 400 miles.”
MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 9 DeWalt Ford Fusion – “It’s disappointing. We’ve been struggling since we got here. We’ve been hitting the track with the splitter since we got here and we’re still hitting the track. We’re trying hard to get a good race package in, but we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out what we’ve got.”
DAVID RAGAN – No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford Fusion – “We picked up a lot. The track has a lot of speed in it right now, but we didn’t spend a lot of time in qualifying trim yesterday. We didn’t expect a whole lot, but hopefully that will be in the mid-twenties somewhere. I think we’ve got a decent car for the race, so we’ll be ready for Sunday.”
DAVID GILLILAND – No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford Fusion – “I was just a little tight. We’ve been loose all year so we kind of tightened it up more than normal, but I’m happy with that lap compared to where we were in practice. The car is really good and I feel like this is one of the best race cars we’ve had going into a race all year, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
MICHAEL MCDOWELL – No. 98 Curb Records Ford Fusion – “It was pretty good. I was a little free off and couldn’t quite get all of it. I tried to stay wide-open coming off the corner and got a little loose and had to crack off the throttle just a little bit. We picked up about four or five-tenths from our mock run. I’m not sure how that’s going to stack up. It’s nice and cool this morning and the wind is not blowing that hard. I hope we’ll be in the top 25, but we’ve really got to beat three cars. That’s what it’s all about.”
