An optimistic Matt DiBenedetto prepares for his championship run

NASCAR provided us access to Zoom meetings with several of the drivers who have advanced to the Playoffs, including Matt DiBenedetto. And while it appeared as though he was set up in a professional home office with a NASCAR Cup Series background, he pulled back the curtain on Instagram to reveal that he was actually at home in his bedroom.

All three national series will compete at Darlington Raceway Saturday and Sunday for the annual "Throwback Weekend." It marks the first race in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs as the top 16 drivers begin the competition for the 2020 championship trophy.

Maurice Petty, NASCAR Hall of Fame member, dies at 81

“The Petty family announces with great sadness the loss of Maurice Petty, who died peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Maurice, a stock-car racing pioneer whose career supplied the horsepower that propelled Petty Enterprises to victories, passed away surrounded by family earlier this morning. He was 81 years old.”

The NASCAR Cup Series kicks off this week’s events at Kansas Speedway Thursday evening. Next up is the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series in the first of a doubleheader on Friday night. They will compete again Saturday afternoon followed by the Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 250 to close out the weekend.

First up is the Xfinity Series race Saturday afternoon followed by the Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series race at 8 p.m. The NASCAR Cup Series will close out the weekend’s events with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday at 3 p.m.
