NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway today announced the format and competition package for the May 19 Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race, both tailored to achieve one goal – the best possible race for the fans.
Stenhouse has ten NASCAR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Bristol Motor Speedway with an average starting position of 22.0 and average finishing position of 10.8.
SunnyD will look to make its presence known this weekend as NASCAR rolls into the winding hills of eastern Tennessee and Bristol Motor Speedway. Not only will the iconic brand be featured on the No. 17 Ford Fusion of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., but the trendy orange and blue scheme will also be featured on Ty Majeski’s No. 60 Ford Mustang, as the highly regarded up-and-comer makes his Bristol racing debut.
Majeski on Bristol: “We tested Bristol a few weeks ago and I thought it went really well. Obviously, I’ve never been there before, but it was good to get some seat time at such a unique track. Mike (Kelley) made some good adjustments throughout the weekend and I was really happy with the car at the end of the two-day test. Bristol is such a fast track with high banks. You can’t see the exit going through the center of the turn. You can’t see where you are headed when you get on the gas, so that was something new to get used to.”
Busch is Back… If there’s one track Camry driver Kyle Busch is known for it’s Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway. Busch is already on a tear this season, posting top-three finishes in his last five races – including his first win a week ago at Texas Motor Speedway – and leads the Monster Energy NACAR Cup Series (MENCS) standings. Busch now heads to Bristol where last fall he swept a combined MENCS, NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) weekend for the second time in his career – and Busch is the only driver to do so, let alone twice. When it comes to putting his Camry out front, Busch has led more than twice as many laps as any other active driver at the 0.533-mile short track and has six MENCS wins, the most among active drivers.
For anyone who loves NASCAR-style auto racing, from drivers to fans and every one in between, any trip to Bristol Motor Speedway is a memorable one, especially that first visit.
Hendrick Motorsports will not appeal the penalty announced today by NASCAR stemming from an unintentional support bracket failure at Texas Motor Speedway.
Reed on Bristol: “Bristol is the number one track that I need to get better at as a driver. Dover was another of those tracks for me, but we went there last year and got a top five in the first race and struggled a little bit in the second, but we know we made a lot of gains there last year. Bristol we just need to hit the reset button. As a driver when you are struggling at a place you need to clear your mind going into the weekend and not let your past runs dictate what you are going to do this year. I’m looking at it like a clean slate and starting fresh.”
While the greatest drivers in the world will be competing on Talladega Superspeedway on April 27-29 during an incredible tripleheader weekend (GEICO 500, Sparks Energy 300, General Tire 200), fans will have the opportunity to hit the pavement first and drive their personal car around NASCAR’s biggest and most competitive track earlier in the week during “Drive Days.”
Josh Berry and the No. 21 DEX team head to Watkins Glen International this weekend looking to put together a clean and steady day at one of NASCAR’s most historic road courses.
After Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway, where they both earned top-five finishes, Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin continue atop the Cup Series points standings entering this weekend at Watkins Glen International.
Andrew Nembhard, point guard for the Indiana Pacers, will ride in the Fastest Seat in Sports at the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 9.
