Hamlin won the Coors Light Pole for the "FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, circling the Monster Mile at 160.121 mph. He stayed ahead of Martin Truex Jr. who will start second after a lap of 159.723 MPH.

Martin Truex Jr. earned his best start of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season today by qualifying his No. 78 Furniture Row/Visser Precision Chevy SS second quick for Sunday’s FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway. Truex, Jr., currently ranked second in the point standings, ran a lap of 159.723 mph at the place he considers his home track, which is near where he grew up in Mayetta, NJ. He also scored his first career Cup victory at the ‘Monster Mile’.

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Cares Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Starting Position: 1st - What does it mean to get the pole this weekend in Dover? “It’s so special especially during FedEx 400 weekend. The FedEx Cares is about the employees – the 70,000 hours that they spend volunteering all over the world to help people in need, so this is part of that program and Autism Speaks is on the car once again. So, I’m proud of the efforts of our race team. We came here and we tested and we felt pretty good about it and my team just brought me another fast Camry.”

MARTIN TRUEX, JR., NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW/VISSER PRECISION CHEVROLET SS – QUALIFIED 2ND - YOU WERE SO CLOSE TO GETTING THAT FIRST POLE OF THE YEAR “Yeah, we were close. For whatever reason, we thought we were in good shape, and then right there, I went to go for it and for some reason the car just got really tight laying it down in the corners."

GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford Fusion (Qualified 7th) – “I am encouraged with where our lap times are. We are less than a tenth off the pole. A tenth of a second, if I had one more chance at it I think I could have done that. Momentum is kind of on our side."

In addition to trying to conquer the Monster Mile, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is doing his own version of the Dover double down by also trying to conquer autism.

It’s a great relationship we’ve had with Autism Speaks over the last few years. Obviously it’s kind of a spin-off from that, but the FedEx Cares paint scheme is more of an appreciation for the nearly 70,000 hours that all the employees have put in at FedEx."

CARL EDWARDS, No. 19 Stanley Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - How was your car in practice? “Our Stanley Toyota was really fast in practice and it’s just such a fast race track. You really get a sensation of speed here. My first run I wasn’t very fast and I went back and looked and I just wasn’t driving the corner fast enough."
