NASCAR Cup Series

Joey Logano won this season’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway and can become the third driver to sweep both events since the track began hosting two races a year in 2005. Carl Edwards was the first to do it in 2008 while Denny Hamlin was the second in 2010.

1. Jeff Gordon: Gordon, an eight-time winner at Martinsville, finished second in the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500, the best finish among Chase-eligible drivers. He leads the points standings by three over Ryan Newman.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the caution filled Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway. The victory was Earnhardt's fourth of the year and it was an emotional one. Ten years ago a Hendrick company plane went down during the fall Martinsville weekend killing all on board including Ricky Hendrick and John Hendrick the son and brother of Earnhardt's car owner Rick Hendrick.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. checked another item off of his bucket list with a victory in the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway. It took him 30 starts at the half-mile Virginia track to win the coveted Martinsville grandfather clock trophy.

Richard Childress Racing teammates Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon and Paul Menard finished third, 12th and 14th, respectively.
