"Kansas City is a blast. It's fun for everybody in the garage area, the food is great and obviously I'm partial to it, but it's fun because you hear your peers, you hear the crew members -- everybody enjoys coming here because there's so much to do. Look at the storyline that Kansas City has had this week -- if somehow a Kansas City driver could win this race that would be unbelievable.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew Chevrolet SS, met with members of the media at Kansas Speedway and discussed turning 40 years old next week, his relationship with Ned Yost, his current position in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup and many other topics. Full Transcript:

Change where change is necessary is a good thing. NASCAR wanted us to keep watching, so out went the system that determined a champion based on season long performance. Winning is big, but it was not big enough, so in came the automatic Chase bye to race winners who at least put in the time to challenge Danica Patrick in the standings.

In the past three Sprint Cup Series races, Martin Truex Jr. has driven his No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet to finishes of 14th (Chicago), 12th (New Hampshire) and seventh (Dover) for a three-race average of 11.0.

No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Brian Vickers speaks of several objectives he’d like to reach in the final seven races of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

“I like Kansas a lot and have a couple of wins there. We haven’t been at the level we want to be but I feel like we learned some things testing Texas last week which will help us this weekend. We’ve got a brand new car for Kansas this weekend and I’m ready to get a good finish.”
