Luckily we were fast enough to be able to get through the first round into the second round. The second round we got into a little better rhythm where I wanted to run on the race track. I’ve got to thank everybody on our Jimmy John’s team they make my life a lot easier on Friday’s and this is a lot of fun.”

Carl Edwards turned a lap of 28.747 (192.855 mph) around Atlanta Motor Speedway to lead Friday afternoon’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) practice session at the 1.5-mile oval. Roush Fenway rookie Chris Buescher followed suit, turning a lap of 31.167 (177.880 mph) to lead the first Nationwide Series (NNS) session.

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 PANASONIC CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Atlanta Motor Speedway and discussed making his 750th start at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his longevity, last week at Bristol, Atlanta’s 2015 date and many other topics.

We’ve had the opportunity this year to visit with various Boys and Girls Clubs across the country, specifically we did some stuff around the races in Talladega and Daytona. A lot of it for Aaron’s is just supporting the communities, support the young men and women of the future and grow leadership. Then a lot of it is around STEM -- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program. It’s something that is a big push nationwide."

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion, is holding down the final Chase spot going into this weekend’s Oral B USA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Biffle spoke about his bubble position with members of the media after today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session.

When Dale Earnhardt Jr. races Sept. 6 at Richmond International Raceway, Nationwide will be on his side as the company makes an early debut as a primary sponsor of the No. 88 Chevrolet SS team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Tony Stewart will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 14 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway for Sunday night's Oral-B USA 500.
