At the track which made Chase-altering headlines the last time the Cup Series came to town, here is what was surprising and not surprising...

For one of the most-heralded Sprint Cup rookies in recent memory, Austin Dillon has had some trouble getting his 2014 in gear.

Carl Edwards visited Richmond International Raceway as the reigning champ at the three-quarter mile track after his win in September of 2013. The No. 99 Ford Always Racing Fusion started from the 16th spot and the combination of speed and impressive work on pit road put the Roush Fenway driver inside the top 10 about a quarter of the way through the 400 lap race

Saturday night racing under the lights at Richmond International Raceway proved to be eventful for Greg Biffle and his 3M Pit Bulls. Biffle started the race 26th due to qualifying being rained out and looked to have a 3M Scotch Ford capable of a top 10.

Martin Truex Jr. drove the No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet to a 10th-place finish in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup Series race, his first top-10 performance of the season, and it could have been even better.

Kyle Busch was the first Camry driver to the finish line in Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Richmond International Raceway.

Tonight we really didn’t have a good short run car; we had a really good long run car. For about 40 or 50 laps it was about the best car out there. "

Jeff Gordon led 173 of the 400-laps at Richmond International Raceway in an effort to put Chevrolet in Victory Lane for the fifth time in the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Gordon narrowly missed his first win of the season by finishing 0.946 seconds behind the race winner in his No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS.

Joey Logano’s win is his second of the season, joining Kevin Harvick as the only two-time winners so far in 2014.
