There might not be many places to go fishing in Arizona, but David Gilliland will still be "speaking fish" for this weekend's Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. The Long John Silver's paint scheme will make its 2013 debut on Gilliland's No. 38 Ford Fusion for Sunday's Subway Fresh Fit 500 at the one-mile oval in the desert.

No. 56 NAPA Filters Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. predicts this weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway will serve as the best preview of what race fans can expect from NASCAR’s new Gen-6 car in 2013.

Marcos Ambrose will travel West to the Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway this weekend. The Launceston, Australia native will look to better his season opening 18th-place finish in the Daytona 500 at the one-mile track in his No. 9 DEWALT Ford Fusion.

Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) will field two entries for the Subway Fresh Fit 500k. JJ Yeley brings back a familiar paint scheme in the No. 36, as TBR welcomes back Accell Construction. Dave Blaney and the No. 7 are sporting new colors as SANY America makes their NASCAR debut.

When Danica Patrick started the Daytona 500 on pole, she made NASCAR history by being the first female to ever sit on the pole for the Daytona 500. However, the real question was whether she could hang up there all race long, or whether she'd fall to the middle of the field, or find trouble.

When the money’s on the line, NASCAR’s best drivers better keep their feet on the gas.

Ordinary NASCAR fans enjoying the Nationwide Series race Saturday afternoon acted heroically when fellow race fans were injured following the last lap crash. No fan expected to be in danger when they entered the Speedway that day but, when disaster struck, fans helped fans to make sure everyone was alright.

For NASCAR, the news is good. Ratings for the Daytona 500 were up 30% this season. That’s good for the sport and better for the bottom line. Final ratings are not out, though. We shall see.

It’s often said that champions know how to deal with adversity, and in the Daytona 500 no driver navigated hardships more admirably than the reigning titleholder.
