NASCAR Cup Series

BK Racing begins its second season of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing with some changes in different levels of their operation. Harry McMullen will remain in his role as the team’s General Manager, which he’s held since the team started January 2012. Just added to the team is Rick Carpenter, who will be the Assistant General Manager helping McMullen with the day-to-day operations. Carpenter comes from Tri Star Motorsports, most recently, and Rusty Wallace Racing, where he held the position of General Manager at both teams. He also worked at Penske Racing.

Giving away cars to fans both near and far… That’s the plan at the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway March 17. During Bruton’s Big Bristol Giveaway, 10 fans in attendance at the Food City 500 will drive away with 2013 Ford Mustangs, making theirs the ultimate fan-friendly experience.

Fire up the grills, pull out those cookbooks, and get ready to get wild! The eighth annual Alabama Army National Guard/Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) Wild Game Cook-Off at Talladega Superspeedway is set for Saturday, February 16th. The annual event featuring fast cars, good food and fun times will be held in the track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage with rides around the track starting at 3:00 p.m. and the cook-off and live music starting at 4:00 p.m.

Armed with the memory of his late grandfather and a desire to promote healthy living, Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Dillon has joined the DRIVE4COPD campaign to raise awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a serious and progressive lung disease that is the third leading cause of death of Americans.

Richard Childress Racing has partnered with Red Kap, a division of VF Imagewear, Inc., as the official workwear outfitter for RCR and ECR Engines employees.

Just one week shy of the one year anniversary of his passing, Joseph ‘Doc’ Mattioli, father of Pocono Raceway, was remembered in a very special way. Mattioli received one of the sport’s highest honors, induction into the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.

Day one of the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour included the Sprint Media Luncheon and an explanation of the Sprint Unlimited race, a presentation by Stewart-Haas Racing, and a trip to Richard Childress Racing’s headquarters in Welcome, NC

Sprint Outlines Fan Involvement with The Sprint Unlimited at Daytona – During a luncheon on Monday of the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR on Fox’s Mike Joy discussed the influence race fans will have over the 75-lap non-points race that kicks off the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season Feb. 16 at Daytona International Speedway.

Denny Hamlin and his girlfriend Jordan Fish welcomed their first child into the world on Sunday January 20th. Hamlin announced the birth of their baby girl by sending out a tweet with a picture earlier today.
