NASCAR Cup Series

Earlier this week Denny Hamlin told everyone via Twitter that he would win this week’s Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The proclamation came after a disappointing finish in Chicago where he ran out of gas and lost valuable positions in the chase for the Sprint Cup.

Joey Logano qualified his No. 20 Home Depot Toyota 18th for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway. When the race began, Logano immediately moved into the top-15. Early on, Logano was reminded of the summer race at NHMS, radioing in that his car was loose in, tight in the center and loose off, the same problem he had back in July.

Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Finished 6th “There was a lot of clawing today. We’d have liked to have been a little faster but we still had a decent day. Like my 2 crew does every week, they just keep digging and made something happen.”

Regan Smith hustled his race car to a 16th-place finish in Sunday's Sylvania 300 Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, didn't get the win but took over the point lead with a solid second-place finish today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway's Sylvania 300, the second of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. This was Johnson's 19th top ten finish, which enables him to take a one point lead as the tour heads to Dover next week. Johnson's Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet, and Kasey Kahne, No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet, also had top five finishes in today's event. Gordon was third while Kahne came home fifth.

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET – FINISHED 2ND: ON HIS RACE AND TAKING POINTS LEAD: "We had a great race car, just not an amazing car like the No. 11 (Denny Hamlin) had. We were best in class today; did a great job. We really expected the No. 11 to be tough here today, and he was. I was telling the guys on the radio on the way in, to only leave seven points on the table in two races is pretty good. We missed that win last week, and this week, and we didn't lead the most this weekend, but it is probably seven total. That's not bad. Very proud of this Lowe's team."

With Denny Hamlin’s dominant win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) reached a rare milestone, becoming only the sixth team in NASCAR Sprint Cup history to reach 100 victories.

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion – “We were just battling overall grip. Our car just didn’t have any grip right when we unloaded off the truck and never fixed it. We were way loose in the corner and had no rear grip. We chattered the front tires. We chattered the rear tires. There at the end we chattered all four, so it was just back and forth with all four tires chattering but no grip at all. We were doing really well in the middle part of the race and I thought, ‘Man, we’ve got something. We’re going.’ We got up to 10th and then just went straight backwards. I don’t know what happened.”

A total of 16 Team Chevy drivers will start the Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

After a two-week hiatus, I'm back in action this week as the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup rolls on into The Granite State for the second time this season. If it wasn't for Ryan Newman's tenth-place finish, the twelve drivers in contention for the drivers' championship this year would have claimed the top twelve finishing spots in July's Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
