Richard Childress Racing's Jeff Burton finished eighth in the NASCAR Sprint Showdown while teammates Kevin Harvick and Paul Menard finished sixth and 16th, respectively, in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Why it is that NASCAR feels it has to tweak the All-Star race. Consider this. The All Star Game, the mid-summer classic plays nine innings and all rules apply. The NBA All Star event follows the rules and the NFL late season All Star game still plays four quarters and follows the rules.

Jimmie Johnson used a carefully planned strategy of driving his No. 48 Lowe’s Patriotic Chevrolet hard for the first and last segments, and coasting for the three in between, to capture his third NASCAR Sprint All-Star race plus a cool $1 million.

Jimmie Johnson executed his strategy perfectly, winning the first 20-lap segment, hanging back for the next three, and catapulting to the lead at the beginning of the final 10-lap sprint to win Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Camry driver Kyle Busch (fourth) was the highest-finishing Toyota driver in Saturday night's All-Star NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

After competing four previous Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge’s, Clint Bowyer emerged as the victor in Saturday night’s competition, earning $10,000 that will be donated to his charity of choice – Emporia Community Fund.
