Jimmie Johnson led the way for Team Chevy in today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying session at Darlington Raceway by putting his No. 48 Lowe’s/KOBALT Tools Chevrolet on the outside front row, in second position, missing the pole by a scant one-tenth of a second.

TELL US ABOUT THAT FIRST LAP THAT WAS SO IMPRESSIVE: “It was just a great lap. We have been working hard on the car all day. It had a lot of comfort and speed in it. There are still some great cars to go yet, so we will have to see where we end up. I’m proud of that lap. I felt like there was a little bit left in turns three and four that I didn’t get down there. I hope no one else can find it either (laughs).”
