‘The Rocket Man’ Ryan Newman, No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet, earned a third-place starting position during Friday’s qualifying session at Bristol Motor Speedway. Newman was the 41st qualifier out of 45 cars and missed his fourth career pole win at Bristol by just one-tenth of a second.

Carl Edwards was fastest in NASCAR Sprint Cup practice, but it was another Roush Fenway driver that claimed his first pole here at Bristol Motor Speedway. Greg Biffle came from 11th in practice to claim the pole for Sunday's 52nd Annual Food City 500.

Roush Fenway’s Greg Biffle covered the .533 oval of Bristol Motor Speedway in 15.324 seconds (125.215 mph) to win the Sprint Cup pole and cap off a strong performance for RFR that saw Carl Edwards lead the day's Sprint practice session as well.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle carries the Sprint Cup Series points lead into this weekend’s showdown at Bristol Motor Speedway. Biffle is the third Roush Fenway driver to hold the Cup point lead in the last year and leads a lineup of RFR Champions into this weekend race.
