NASCAR Cup Series

In round one of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Tony Stewart put his fuel mileage management skills to work in the closing laps of the GEICO 400 to put his No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet in victory lane.

Despite his U.S. Army Medicine Chevrolet running out of fuel on Turn 2 of the final lap, Ryan Newman still managed to bring home a strong finish as he coasted to the checkered flag in eighth place in Monday's rain-delayed Geico 400, the opening event in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Bank of America, the Official Bank of NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway, today announced $1 million in educational grants to nonprofit organizations in Charlotte and a series of programs that provide area students with NASCAR-themed curriculum and career opportunities, in conjunction with its title sponsorship of the Bank of America 500 on Saturday, October 15.
