NASCAR Cup Series

There’s something to be said about an 18-year veteran in this day and age of NASCAR. Especially one with a Daytona 500 win, Brickyard 400 win, and Rookie of the Year title under his belt. But with anything new comes a learning curve, one Ryan Newman is excited to embrace heading into his first season in the No. 6 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing.

One lucky fan has the chance to attend each NASCAR Cup Series event at Dover International Speedway for the next 50 years as part of the Monster Mile’s “Golden Tickets” promotion, track officials announced today.

Spire Motorsports, through a partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR), announced today that 2010 Daytona 500 Champion Jamie McMurray will drive the No. 40 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the 2019 Daytona 500. McMurray will be making his 17th start in the “Great American Race”, when the Daytona 500 kicks-off the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) regular season on Feb. 17.

“In every way, Glen Wood was an original. In building the famed Wood Brothers Racing at the very beginnings of our sport, Glen laid a foundation for NASCAR excellence that remains to this day. As both a driver and a team owner, he was, and always will be, the gold standard. But personally, even more significant than his exemplary on-track record, he was a true gentleman and a close confidant to my father, mother and brother. On behalf of the France family and all of NASCAR, I send my condolences to the entire Wood family for the loss of a NASCAR giant.”

David Ragan was all smiles Thursday night at the world renowned car auction house, Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ragan joined patients from the Shiners Hospitals for Children on stage to watch the hammer drop after a final bid of $300,000 to purchase a 2018 No. 38 Shriners Hospitals for Children Ford Fusion Cup car. All of the proceeds of the bid will benefit the Shriners Hospitals.

Michigan native Erik Jones enjoys the hot, slick racing surface at Michigan International Speedway for NASCAR racing in the summer. On Tuesday, the surface was icy and slick when Jones visited the Detroit Red Wings.

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has renewed its partnership with Alsco, the premier linen and uniform rental business, into the 2019 NASCAR season. Alsco will serve as an associate partner for the full year on both No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, piloted by Daniel Hemric in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Tyler Reddick in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Although the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year race will see such talents as Ryan Preece and Daniel Hemric lead a charge that also includes Matt Tifft and Tanner Berryhill, it doesn’t look like it will be much of a race.
