Kevin Harvick, No. 4 Jimmy John’s Ford Fusion - Finished 2nd “We were starting to track him (Kyle Busch) down there at the end. I needed about 25 more laps. I gotta thank everybody on our Jimmy John’s Ford. They did a great job on a weekend when we needed to do a great job with all the unknowns going into next week. It will be a fun weekend but it will be kind of trial and error as we go through the weekend. It was a good night for us here at Richmond and we did a good job on pit road, just came up a little bit short.”

Roush Fenway Racing announced today that veteran NASCAR driver Ryan Newman will take the reins of its iconic No. 6 Ford Mustang, competing full-time for Jack Roush in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in 2019. During his celebrated career, Newman has accumulated 18 victories, 51 poles, 112 top-fives and 246 top-10 finishes competing at NASCAR’s highest level.

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Qualifying Position: 2nd - Did you feel you were close to being able to beat the pole time set by Kevin Harvick? “Not really, I thought we were a little bit farther off than that. Just takes our car so long to come in, but still happy with that qualifying effort considering how much of a long run car it is. Proud of this whole FedEx Camry team."

Kevin Harvick, No. 4 Jimmy John’s Ford Fusion - Qualified 1st “We didn’t do any qualifying runs in practice so we were trying to get the car dialed in and get the driver to get the most out of it. I did an okay job the last round getting the car to roll fast enough through three and four and then the guys got it tightened up a little bit and we were able to get in the throttle up off the corner. That was really the key.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 DC SOLAR CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 10th - WHAT WERE YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN QUALIFYING? “We just lacked balance and probably just a little bit of speed there, in Qualifying. I feel like our balance wasn’t terrible; it was better than practice, but we were still pretty slow. So hopefully we can figure something out for the race tomorrow because if it drives like it did in practice, it’ll be a long race.”

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Is it weird that somebody who hasn’t won during much of the year and made the playoffs is now in the position to potentially win the championship? “It’s kind of what the playoff format is all about, right? You come into this with guys who have a dominant regular season and then you reset the board and whoever is good in the final 10 (races) or three by three by three to one, obviously has a great shot to win the championship."
