Clint Bowyer last won a race nearly five years ago and his career slowly started to dip until he hit rock bottom last season. Now he's back to posting competitive numbers and looks to end his long winless drought.

We only made like seven laps the first practice because I was spinning out every time. They made some big adjustments there between practices, but I actually thought my (Turns) 1 and 2 was better because as I run my (Turn) 3 and 4 has been my worst corner."

Martin Truex Jr. topped the chart in first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Kansas Speedway. The driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota was the fastest with a time of 29.179 and a speed of 185.065 mph.
