Chase Elliott topped the chart in the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Phoenix International Raceway.

NASCAR heads to Phoenix Raceway this weekend as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and XFINITY Series compete at the one-mile oval. Saturday’s XFINITY Series DC Solar 200 will be broadcast at 4 p.m. on FOX. The Cup Series Camping World 500 will be televised on FOX at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The NASCAR Camping World 500 race weekend at Phoenix Raceway is all about fast cars and the state of Arizona. It seems only appropriate that six members from the cast of the upcoming movie “Car Dogs” will be on hand this weekend to serve as honorary race officials for Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Camping World 500, which starts at 12:30 p.m., PT.

22nd in Points: Matt DiBenedetto and the No. 32 Can-Am/Kappa Ford team sit 22nd in owner and driver points going into the Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Matt, a west-coast native, considers Phoenix to be one of his favorite tracks on the schedule, and he and the team are looking for another great finish to maintain or strengthen their points position in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Wins mean everything, but doing well in the stages and coming home close to the front seems pretty important also this season. Last week, Matt Kenseth finished ninth, yet lost ground by 30 points to race winner Martin Truex Jr. in Las Vegas alone.

Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and their respective crews will not face punishment for their post-race actions following Sunday's Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

LAS VEGAS REWIND: Chase Elliott and the No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS team posted another impressive run with a third-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He is now third in the NASCAR Cup Series standings after three races, only three points out of the lead.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars Kyle Larson, Danica Patrick, and Chris Buescher are scheduled to participate in the traditional Fan Question & Answer Session at Talladega Superspeedway’s start-finish line prior to the running of the GEICO 500 on Sunday, May 7.
