After a rough and tumble opening weekend for all three national touring series, the 2017 NASCAR season shifts 400 miles north to Atlanta Motor Speedway, a track where drivers will face a whole different set of challenges, as the historic facility, first opened in 1960, closes the books on one iconic era of racing before opening another on a new surface in 2018.

By the first caution on Lap 27, Almirola was in 24th and said the car was tight the exit of the corner. Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer called for a four-tire pit stop and adjustments.

On Sunday, 16 cars retired from the Daytona 500 due to an accident. On Saturday, 23 cars retired from the XFINITY Series race due to an accident. On Friday night, 11 trucks retired from the Camping World Truck Series race due to an accident. And those numbers don't include the vehicles that also received damage as a result of these wrecks.
