NASCAR Cup Series

The last two times Martin Truex Jr. competed at Texas Motor Speedway his Furniture Row Racing car was contending for the win. But in the late stages of each race he saw his chance for a Victory Lane visit slip away.

To date, Hendrick Motorsports has totals of 244 victories, 209 pole positions, 1,007 top-five finishes and 1,689 top-10 finishes in Sprint Cup competition. Its teams have led 66,159 laps since 1984.

“Certainly, our goal is to go out and win the race. That’s the only way we can ensure that we can run for a championship at Homestead. We have had some success at Texas in the past, and it’s a pretty good track for us, so hopefully we can go out there, run up front and have a chance to win at the end.

“Texas has always been pretty special to me. We made our first career Cup start here in 2010 with the Wood Brothers and we also won our first XFINITY Series race here in 2011. I really like racing here. It’s a fast, wide track that lets you run all over the place.

"It's a long race at Texas, so we're definitely going to have to be patient and make sure to keep our No. 44 Albertsons Ford out of any carnage. I've found some success from all three series at Texas, and I'm looking forward to being back and hopefully finishing at the front after 500 miles."

"We will have a real big focus on trying to make sure that we can maintain some grip and not get really, really loose like we have the last couple years. We've got some great momentum heading there after great finishes for the No. 43 Smithfield Ford in Talladega and Martinsville, so hopefully we can keep the positive upward trend going and get a solid finish this weekend."

“I really enjoy racing at Texas. It’s been a good track for me in the past and I feel like we’ve made some positive changes with our cars. Texas will be a good place to take what we’ve learned so far this season and see what we’ve got.”

The Round of 8 continues this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway with Joey Logano sitting fifth in the Chase standings, four points behind fourth-place Kyle Busch and six points in back of Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth for second and third. Logano has one series win at Texas with that coming in the Spring of 2014.

“I always look forward to Texas as Eddie Gossage (track president) and team always put on a good show for the fans. Earlier this year, we ran solidly in the top-10 before getting caught up in an accident. If we can play the right pit strategy, execute on pit-road, and stay out of trouble then we should leave Texas with a strong finish.”

Not everyone is a metrosexual male. There are some rude, uncaring, disrespectful individuals in this world who hide behind the civility of society in a bid to get away with saying or doing whatever they damn well please.
