Greg Biffle made his 500th consecutive start Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway. Biffle was looking at a solid top-10 finish until damage to the nose on a restart sent him to pit road for repairs. Biffle was able to keep his No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford Fusion on the lead lap the entire race and in the end survived two green-white-checkered overtime restarts to cross the finish line 16th.

Kyle Busch topped the chart in final Sprint Cup Series practice at Phoenix International Raceway. The driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was the fastest in the final practice session with a time of 26.401 and a speed of 136.358 mph.

Martin Truex Jr. topped the chart in second Sprint Cup Series practice at Phoenix International Raceway. The driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota was the fastest in the second practice session with a time of 26.573 and a speed of 135.476 mph.

Alex Bowman piloting the No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS for the injured Dale Earnhardt, Jr., earned his first career pole after making only his ninth start in the Hendrick Motorsports Chevy.

"Second is not too bad with the Target Chevy it is my best qualifying effort here at Phoenix. We have always qualified well here, just inching our way towards a pole. Would have liked to have gotten a pole, but second is not bad.”

Alex Bowman will lead the field to the green flag on Sunday afternoon after topping the chart in the final round of qualifying in the Valley of the Sun.
