“Except for Talladega (finished last with engine issue), we’ve been consistent since the Chase started,” noted Truex. “We obviously feel we belong in the hunt for the championship but we’re not. But the next best thing we can do is continue our momentum in the final races and hopefully bring home a victory or two.”

“Anytime I’ve been below (the cut line) in an elimination race, I’ve found a way to get in on the final in the elimination round so I like our chances. (Phoenix) is a pressure race and I like pressure. “Phoenix was a good track for us in the spring. I look to go back there and have another great run and go out there and try to win.”

“I love being out west and Phoenix is a fun and challenging place to race and a great place to make my 500th consecutive start. It’s hard to find a balance between the two ends because the corners are so different.

Kasey Kahne will pilot the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway -- the paint scheme's final race of the season. The Enumclaw, Washington, native last drove the flat black Farmers Insurance Chevy at Kansas Speedway, where he earned a 10th-place finish.

Edwards beat martin Truex, Jr. out of the pits on the race’s final stop and was declared the winner when rain end the AAA Texas 500. Edwards joins Jimmie Johnson as qualifiers for the Chase finale at Homestead.

“Phoenix is definitely a challenging track. It’s always raced more like a short-track than it does a one-mile track. I’m looking forward to seeing what we will have there this weekend with our AdvoCare Ford as we hope to really end this season on a strong note and see what we can learn this weekend that will help us when we come back here in 2017.”

With just two races left in the 2016 Sprint Cup Series season, Brian Scott and the No. 44 team are heading back out west for the final short-track race of the year at Phoenix International Raceway. With its proximity to Idaho, Scott considers Phoenix a homecoming, especially with Safeway, a banner store of Albertsons, and Whitetail adorning the hood of the Ford Fusion, in which Scott has ties to both companies.

Phoenix International Raceway will be the final short track visit of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, and the team is looking forward to returning. After finishing in the 13th position at the one-mile track in the spring, Almirola will return with the U.S. Air Force adorning the hood to score another Top-15 finish.
