NASCAR Cup Series

NASCAR announced today that Scott Miller has joined the organization as Senior Vice President of Competition, responsible for managing all competition efforts related to technology, inspection, rule development and officiating across NASCAR’s wide portfolio of racing.

The sport fittingly crowned a first-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch, in what was a transformational season that saw the championship format produce a series of records, milestones and firsts on and off the track.

NASCAR announced today that Senior Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton will leave the organization at the end of 2015.

Detroit-based Quicken Loans, the nation’s second largest retail mortgage lender, today announced it will partner with Hendrick Motorsports in 2016, serving as a three-race primary sponsor of the No. 5 Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS driven by Kasey Kahne in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The company will be an associate sponsor for all remaining races.

Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) has made new appointments within its competition department as the championship-winning race team wastes no time preparing for the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Denny Hamlin underwent successful surgery today to repair the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee. This was previously scheduled and was done by Dr. Patrick Connor of OrthoCarolina. The knee is expected to recover by the time Speedweeks starts up in February at Daytona International Speedway.

Introducing a new video series by Mobil 1 The Grid that will focus on the behind the scenes action of NASCAR’s teams and the crew members that support them. This installment features James "Ace" Keener, the gas man for Stewart-Haas Racing's Tony Stewart.

The reigning Sprint Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will have surgery, on either Dec. 14 or Dec. 15, to remove the plate and screws out of his left foot. He'll also have a second separate surgical procedure to remove a rod from his right leg.

Busch won the Ford EcoBoost 400, holding off Kevin Harvick to win his first Sprint Cup championship. Busch missed the first 11 races of the season after breaking his leg at a crash at Daytona in February. “A pasty white guy from Las Vegas is the Sprint Cup champion,” Busch said. “Ironically, all other driver ‘pale’ in comparison to me.
