In the last race of the regular season and the one to set the Chase contenders here is what was surprising and not surprising from the 48th annual Federated Auto Parts 500 at Richmond International Raceway.

Richard Childress Racing drivers Ryan Newman, Paul Menard and Austin Dillon finished 20th, 26th and 27th, respectively, in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

In the final regular season race, Martin Truex Jr. found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time at Richmond International Raceway.

The first 26 regular season NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races are in the books. After 400-laps/300-miles of racing at Richmond International Raceway, the 2015 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup field has now been set. Chevrolet will have nine drivers, the most of any manufacturer, competing for the championship – Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kurt Busch, Martin Truex, Jr., Jamie McMurray, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman and Paul Menard – will all vie to be the driver and team hoisting the hardware in the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Toyota driver Matt Kenseth was victorious in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Richmond International Raceway.

Matt Kenseth, driver of the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota, scored his fourth win of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season at the Federated Auto Parts 400 "under the lights" at RIR Saturday.

Greg Biffle battled a loose-handling No. 16 Cheez-It Ford Saturday evening under the lights at Richmond International Raceway to a 31st-place finish. The loose handling condition plagued the team in practice and contributed to a 38th-place qualifying effort.

In the final race to make the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Cup, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gambled at the end to take the wave around to join the other 13 cars on the lead lap but newer tires prevailed forcing Stenhouse to settle for a 16th-place finish in Saturday nights’ Federated Auto Parts 400.

Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, earned a 23rd-place finish on Saturday night in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Richmond International Raceway.
