Austin Cindric looked to be in position to win his first NASCAR XFINITY Series race – and score $100,000 in the process as part of the four-driver Dash 4 Cash program – but his No. 22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Ford Mustang ran out of fuel coming to the final restart to relegate him to a 30th-place finish in Saturday’s Sparks Energy 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Spencer Gallagher wasn't one of the primary contenders all day. He didn't win a stage, nor did he lead more than one lap. But that one lap was the one that mattered, when all was said and done.

AUSTIN CINDRIC, No. 22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Ford Mustang “Went from hero to zero, right? We were in position to get the Dash for Cash and maybe a win regardless of what happened to the 7. But hey, we were in contention. We got shoved off cycle there but it is something out of our control and that is what put us in that position anyway. We can’t hang out head too low, it is just one of those deals. I am excited for Dover, it is one of my favorite tracks and the 22 guys have a lot of confidence going there so maybe we can pull off a win there.”

NASCAR needs more crossover stars. It's a time-honored tradition in the sport to bring in drivers from across the pond (mostly on NASCAR's dime) and put them in our cars not only to perform but to draw in the fans. This is usually met with success more on the fan side of things, although former F1 drivers Mario Andretti and Juan Pablo Montoya did find a bit of success in NASCAR.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series head to Talladega Superspeedway, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is off. Check out the tentative full schedule below, subject to change.

Majeski on Talladega “This will be my first start at Talladega and my first restrictor plate race. In practice we are going to draft early and then try to get in some single car runs. It’s a big field with no Cup drivers, so my plan is to just be smart and try and learn as much as I can. I’ll have to learn how the car handles and see how it plays out with the pack. Hopefully we can avoid any accidents and be around at the end, it will be important to get all the laps in.”

Richard Childress Racing's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history at Talladega Superspeedway ... Richard Childress began his driving career at Talladega Superspeedway in 1969 and is in a tie for the most all-time car owner victories at the storied Alabama-based race track with 12 wins. Dale Earnhardt visited Victory Lane nine times, while Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer swept the 2010 events at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. Bowyer added to the Welcome, N.C.-based organization's total by claiming RCR's 100th Cup Series win when NASCAR's senior series visited the facility in October 2011. In 172 starts, RCR also has four pole awards, 42 top-five, 69 top-10 finishes and has led 1,843 laps of competition

"Talladega is my favorite among the two superspeedways that we go to on the NASCAR circuit. It's wider than Daytona, so you can make more passes and you can keep a run going. I feel like GMS Racing has a really strong superspeedway program, whether it's in the Truck Series or the Xfinity Series. Chad (Norris, crew chief) and the guys have been working hard on this No. 23 piece since we brought it back from Daytona and I think we will be in really good shape for this weekend."
