Garrett Smithley hopes to bounce back from a 35th-place finish last week at Pocono in Saturday’s Irish Hills 250 Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

Veteran stock car and open-wheel driver Sam Hornish Jr. will return to Team Penske this summer to compete in select NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races for the team, driving the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang. Hornish is currently scheduled to compete in both upcoming series events at Iowa Speedway (June 24 and July 29) and the NXS road course event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (August 12).

GMS Racing is pleased to announce veteran NASCAR crew chief; Mike Ford has joined the team as GMS Racing's NASCAR XFINITY Series Competition Director. Tom Ackerman will continue to serve as the Competition Director over the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series program.

Richard Childress Racing at Michigan International Speedway ... In 160 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Michigan International Speedway, RCR teams have earned three wins, two with Dale Earnhardt (1987, 1990) and the most recent with Kevin Harvick (August 2010). Additionally, RCR has claimed 23 top-five and 55 top-10 finishes with 10 different drivers including Richard Childress, a former driver in NASCAR's top division, who recorded top-10 finishes at MIS in June 1978 and August 1979.

Ryan Reed has competed at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) three times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In 2014, Reed finished 11th after starting 24th. In 2015, Reed finished 19th after starting in the same position and in 2016 Reed started 11th and crossed the finish line 14th.

"I have always enjoyed going to Michigan (International Speedway). The track has really started to age and take some character. With it being in Michigan there is going to be some weathering elements that are going to help that. Even though it's still a fairly new track, the groove is actually widening out considerably. It hasn't gotten bumpy which is nice and it's still glass smooth. It's great racing there and I think we will have ourselves a good little car."

Ben Kennedy and GMS Racing announced today that Weber, the world’s premier manufacturer of charcoal, gas and electric grills, grilling accessories and other outdoor room products, will serve as primary sponsor on the No. 96 Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on June 17th.

Recap: Brad Keselowski used an impressive late-race drive to secure the win for the No. 22 SKF Ford Mustang team in the Pocono Green 250 at Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the first for the three-time NASCAR XFINITY Series Owners Championship team since November 7, 2015 at Texas Motor Speedway. Keselowski began the day from the eighth position but quickly began a march to the front of the field when the race began.

Camry driver Daniel Suárez (fifth) was the top-Toyota finisher in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Pocono Raceway. This was the fourth top-five result in nine NXS starts this year for the 2016 XFINITY Series champion.

We were leading or second or whatever it was. Elliott (Sadler) gave me a good push to clear the 00 but it carried all the way into Turn 1. I got down there and my rear tires were off the ground and went straight trying not to back it into the wall. Kind of a never give up.
