Former Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model champion Kevin Cornelius made the most of his return home, capturing his first career Don Biederman Memorial title in a pair of head-turning performances June 28th & 29th.

Night 1 defending Biederman Champion Dwayne Baker looked like he was ready to add his name to the trophy for a second time. After starting 3rd in the 50 lap feature event it took the #48 till lap 30 to wrestle the lead away from the #17 of Cornelius. The next 20 laps was all #48 up front to record his first feature win of 2014 and putting the pressure on the rest of the field to wrestle the overall championship away from him. Kevin Cornelious placed a strong 2nd.

The start of the first 30 lap feature event saw the #47 of Brian McLean and #7 of Brent McLean lead the field to green. Both teams have suffered some bad luck in the past few weeks and both were looking to score their first victory of the 2014 season. Brian got the jump on Brent and lead for the first 3 laps of the event. Fourth starting #26 of Terry Baker quickly moved up from his fourth starting sport to take the lead on lap four.

This beautiful hot night brought out many fans for autographs and to meet our team.

Fresh off the heels of three consecutive top-10 finishes in the Upper Midwest, Kraig Kinser begins the busiest month of the year for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series with momentum. The third-generation takes to the track three times this week, which open the 15-race month for the best sprint car drivers in the world.

After battling ill-handling issues at Barrie Speedway, Tyler Hawn was hoping to find the right handle to get around the 3/8-mile known as Sunset Speedway. The Hawn Motorsports team worked hard throughout the weekend, posting a 15th and a 10th place finish in the pair of features.

Entering the 18-race 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season, drivers and team personnel predicted that the competition at each of the 15 venues would be exceptionally competitive.

The 2014 season was supposed to be Andrew Ranger’s triumphant return to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1. The road to a potential third championship has been quite bumpy to start, but this week’s Jiffy Lube 100 presented by La Petite Bretonne at Circuit ICAR provides Ranger with the perfect opportunity to get back in the Winner’s Circle.

After losing the Don Biederman Memorial Championship last year in a tie-breaker, Kevin Cornelius would come back stronger this year and score the feature victory on Sunday night at Sunset Speedway. The feature victory marks Cornelius’ second in the last three events and third straight top-two finish.

In his first career OSCAAR Hanover Holiday Modified start on Sunday, Cayden Lapcevich would impress as he grabbed the lead late in the feature to pick up the victory. The 14-year-old becomes the youngest OSCAAR modified feature winner in series history.
