Just weeks after SMI chairman Bruton Smith called start and park teams a "disgrace to the sport", NASCAR president Mike Helton has released news of a change in the way that purses would be paid out to competitors in positions 39 through 43 of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

In the sport of NASCAR, as in many professional sports, it is certainly the sponsors that make it all possible.

Technology has become synonymous with racing. We see it in the changes NASCAR has made in the cars over the years, in the tech process, communications, even the “world’s biggest television” that Bruton Smith installed on the backstretch at Charlotte Motor Speedway just a couple of seasons ago. Why wouldn’t we expect to see it in track drying process?

The world of racing that Clay Campbell and Karen Parker work in is one of high speed, cutting-edge technology with a fair amount of excitement. But for two days this week two Martinsville Speedway officials were immersed in a much faster, much more high-tech world.

For the third straight spring, Dover International Speedway will offer race fans the unique, free opportunity to roam the frontstretch of the Monster Mile with the return of the 5-hour ENERGY Open Track Session.

When Ed and Paula Wagaman made their first trip to Martinsville Speedway from Palestine, WV, in 2007, they had no intentions of becoming race fans. They just wanted to see a race.

As it has for more than five decades, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE: TRK) will again expand its Fans First platform in 2013. New initiatives will include a four-tiered program reaching across a variety of fan bases, including long-time fans, first-time fans, families and those fans interested in the most exclusive race experience in motorsports.

As fans look towards the upcoming season, a highlight on the Camping World Truck Series calendar is a trip to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on September 1st. In anticipation for that event, CTMP continues making improvements to the facility, and will use the 7th Annual Canadian Motorsports Expo powered by Inside Track Motorsports News to highlight those changes.
