Hennessey Announces Supercharged ‘GOLIATH 650’ Upgrade for GM’s 6.2-liter V8 Trucks

  • Hennessey upgrades GM’s V8-powered pickups with a supercharger to deliver 650 bhp and 658 lb-ft of torque — a monstrous 55 percent increase in horsepower over stock
  • Available ‘GOLIATH OFF-ROAD’ package for GMC Sierra AT4 adds aggressive custom steel bumpers, LED light bar and driving lamps, and Hennessey 20-inch aluminum wheels with 35-inch off-road tires
  • All upgrades and accessories are backed by Hennessey’s comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty

SEALY, Texas, Dec. 12, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hennessey, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer and high-performance vehicle creator, has announced comprehensive upgrades for General Motors pickup trucks with its ‘GOLIATH 650’ build. The new supercharged performance upgrade delivers an impressive 55 percent increase in horsepower and a 43 percent increase in torque — a warranty backs the upgrade.

The factory Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups may be optioned with GM’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 — the powerplant is the largest and most potent naturally aspirated gasoline-fed eight-cylinder in its class. Stock output is 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, sending power through GM’s Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission with part- or full-time four-wheel drive.

Obsessed with ‘making fast cars faster’ since 1991 and determined to release the full potential of the GM’s engine, the engineers at Hennessey upgrade the Sierra and Silverado’s 6.2-liter V8 (L87 EcoTec3) with a robust 3.0-liter supercharger, high-flow intake system, high-flow intercooler, and a crankcase ventilation system. In addition, chromoly pushrods are installed, and the engine management software is enhanced with HPE engine management calibration. Lastly, a stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system (retaining stock exhaust tips) is installed to improve performance and soundtrack. The result is a dyno-proven 650 bhp and 658 lb-ft of torque.

The ‘GOLIATH OFF-ROAD’ package complements the supercharged power upgrade on the GMC Sierra AT4 and adds a custom front steel bumper with ‘GOLIATH’ laser-etched into the plate. An LED lightbar and LED driving lamps are also installed to enhance visibility on- and off-road while further boosting the vehicle’s presence. The chassis is lifted with an off-road suspension upgrade, and Hennessey 20-inch aluminum wheels, with rugged 35-inch off-road tires, replace the stock 18-inch wheels.

John Hennessey, company founder and CEO: “GM offers its naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 in a range of very capable pickup trucks begging for forced induction. We bolt on a big supercharger to pull an extra 230 horsepower and nearly 200 additional lb-ft of torque out of the engine and then back it with a warranty for peace of mind. Our GOLIATH package is ideal for those seeking more power than the factory is willing to offer, whether on-road, off-road, or towing.”

Hennessey prides itself on the quality of its vehicles and workmanship. As such, the ‘GOLIATH 650′ benefits from a comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. The ‘GOLIATH 650’ power upgrade is offered for the Chevrolet Silverado RST, Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, or High Country and the GMC Sierra AT4 and Denali Ultimate with the L87 motor. The ‘GOLIATH OFF-ROAD’ package is offered exclusively for the Sierra AT4. Customers may send applicable vehicles to Hennessey for the ‘GOLIATH 650′ upgrade, or they may be ordered now through authorized Chevrolet and GMC retailers or directly from Hennessey by calling +1 979.885.1300 or visiting HennesseyPerformance.com.

Speedway Children’s Charities DistributesRecord $2 Million to North Carolina Nonprofits

  • Speedway Children’s Charities hosted this year’s Charlotte and North Wilkesboro recipient organizations at Speedway Christmas to spread cheer and deliver grant funding, capping a record-breaking year of fundraising for local children in need
  • Nationally, Speedway Children’s Charities will distribute more than $4.2 million; since inception, SCC has allocated more than $69 million across the United States
  • Supporters can register to volunteer or donate to Speedway Children’s Charities by visiting speedwaycharities.org

CONCORD, N.C. (Dec. 11, 2022) – Speedway Children’s Charities hosted area nonprofits and their supporters at Speedway Christmas Monday night, delivering holiday cheer and much-needed grant funding to organizations making a direct impact on the lives of area children in need. In total, officials announced a record year with more than $2 million given to North Carolina nonprofits this holiday season. SCC Charlotte will distribute $1.78 million in grants to 94 deserving charities throughout the region, while SCC’s new North Wilkesboro chapter will distribute $215,000.

SCC volunteers and staff welcomed more than 450 children and charity representatives for an evening of cookies and hot chocolate and a tour through the nearly 5 million Christmas lights that illuminate Speedway Christmas, the country’s largest drive-thru holiday light show. Santa Claus and Lug Nut joined the festivities, passing out candy canes and plenty of Christmas cheer.

“It warms my heart that SCC was able to make a big impact and it’s amazing to see,” said Speedway Children’s Charities Chairman Marcus Smith. “We are blessed to contribute to so many amazing organizations and I appreciate all of the hard work they do to make a difference in these children’s lives.”

SCC raises money throughout the year through a variety of fundraising events, ranging from its annual black-tie Gala to 50/50 raffles, charity hot laps and more.

“2023 has been an extraordinary year for the Speedway Children’s Charities chapters in North Carolina,” said the Director of SCC Charlotte Taylor Kirby. “The financial support we can offer these organizations will help continue their missions and help make a lasting difference in the lives of children facing various challenges.”

The record-setting distribution would not be possible, Kirby said, without the help of many volunteers and dedicated corporate partners. As part of Monday’s celebration, devoted volunteer Craig Austin was honored as the recipient of the inaugural David L. Johnston Volunteer of the Year.

“Our volunteers portray what it means to serve without recognition,” said Kirby. “Through their hard work and dedication, we are able to make a significant impact in the lives of children in need.”

Nationally, SCC serves 11 communities across the United States. This year alone, SCC will distribute more than $4.2 million to charities. Since its inception in 1982, SCC has awarded over $69 million to nonprofit organizations nationwide.

A Guide to Enjoying Online Casinos Safely and Mindfully

Online casinos have become a popular source of entertainment for those who want to experience the thrill of winning big from the comfort of their homes. However, it’s important to remember that online gambling comes with a responsibility to ensure a safe and responsible gaming experience. As the world of virtual casinos continues to grow, it’s essential to learn how to navigate it safely.

Understanding the Risks and Setting Limits

If you’re thinking about trying your luck in the world of online casinos, it’s crucial to keep in mind that gambling comes with its own set of risks. It’s always better to be aware of them beforehand and take necessary precautions to ensure that you’re playing it safe. Like any form of entertainment, moderation is key. Set realistic limits on both time and money to avoid falling into the trap of compulsive gambling. Establishing a budget ensures that your gaming activities remain within manageable bounds, preventing financial strain and stress.

Choosing Reputable Online Casinos

The first step toward a safe online casino experience is selecting a reputable platform. Look for casinos like W88 with proper licensing, transparent terms and conditions, and positive reviews from other players. Reputable online casinos prioritize fair play, secure transactions, and responsible gaming. It’s important to take the time to explore different platforms and choose one that aligns with your preferences and values.

Protecting Your Personal and Financial Information

Security should be a top priority when engaging in online gambling. Opt for casinos that utilize advanced encryption technology to safeguard your personal and financial information. A secure website typically displays a padlock icon in the address bar, indicating that the connection is encrypted. Additionally, use strong and unique passwords for your casino accounts and enable two-factor authentication when available.

Recognizing the Signs of Problem Gambling

Mindful gaming involves recognizing the signs of problem gambling and seeking help when needed. If you find yourself chasing losses, neglecting responsibilities, or feeling the need to gamble with increasing amounts of money, it’s crucial to address these behaviors promptly. Many reputable online casinos provide tools for self-exclusion and limits on deposits, helping players maintain control over their gaming habits.

Promoting Responsible Gaming Features

Responsible online casinos like W88 actively promote features that support mindful gaming. Look for platforms that offer reality checks, allowing you to set reminders about the duration of your gaming sessions. Time limits, deposit limits, and loss limits are additional tools that help you stay in control. Get to know these functionalities well and utilize them to amplify your overall gaming enjoyment.

Balancing Entertainment and Winning Potential

While the prospect of winning big is undoubtedly enticing, it’s important to view online casino gaming primarily as a form of entertainment rather than a reliable source of income. Treat losses as the cost of entertainment and celebrate wins responsibly. Establish a healthy mindset that values the enjoyment of the gaming experience itself, rather than focusing solely on financial outcomes.

Conclusion

With the increase in popularity of online casinos, it is important to prioritize safety and mindfulness when using these virtual platforms. Understanding the risks associated with online gambling can help ensure a positive and secure experience. It is crucial to find the right balance between entertainment and responsibility, allowing you to fully enjoy the thrill of online casinos while also safeguarding your well-being.

NICK GOOZEE, JAY SIGNORE INDUCTED INTO TEAM PENSKE HALL OF FAME

Influential Team Members Honored as 2023 Class

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 11, 2023) – On Saturday evening at the annual Team Penske holiday party, Nick Goozee and Jay Signore were inducted into the Team Penske Hall of Fame, becoming the 14th and 15th team members to receive the distinguished honor. Both men represent some of the most unique and unsung areas of the team’s 57-year history with contributions spanning across Team Penske practices. The two received their custom awards as the team gathered to celebrate their second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series championship and their 19th Indianapolis 500 victory.

A native of South London, Nick Goozee joined Team Penske in 1974 as a fabricator for the team’s Formula 1 (F1) operation based at Penske Cars in Poole, Dorset, England. In 1983, Goozee rose to the role of Managing Director of the famed facility on the southern coast of England where F1 and INDYCAR winners were constructed from 1974 to 1999 using standards of build that few other manufacturers could match.

Nick Goozee was instrumental in the design, development and build of Penske chassis that would go on to win 14 Indianapolis 500s and nine INDYCAR SERIES championships. This included the winningest chassis in Penske Cars history, the PC-23 that Al Unser Jr., Emerson Fittipaldi and Paul Tracy used to dominate the 1994 INDYCAR season. That year the team won 12 of 16 races – including a historic performance at the Indianapolis 500 with the Mercedes-Benz engine – en route to a 1-2-3 finish in the series standings with Unser taking the crown.

“It is an honor to accept this award not only for myself but on behalf of the many remarkable members of Penske Cars who over three decades made so much success for Team Penske possible,” said Goozee.

Jay Signore first came to the attention of Roger Penske after Signore and Team Penske’s first champion driver, Mark Donohue, competed in Sports Car Club of America races together in the late 1950s. His first role was helping with Penske’s powerboat racing operation in the summer of 1972. Signore and his wife Barbara both joined Team Penske in 1973 and helped manage the team until 1980.

The biggest undertaking for Signore during his time at Team Penske was as President of the International Race of Champions (IROC) from 1974 to 2007, an all-star racing series co-created by Roger Penske. Over the span of its existence, IROC featured drivers from NASCAR, INDYCAR, Formula 1, Sports Car and dirt racing competing in identically prepared cars.

“I have to thank everyone at Team Penske that voted me into this exclusive Hall of Fame,” said Signore. “I was able to touch a lot of different areas during my time with Team Penske, with IROC being right at the top. Roger’s vision was to gather the best drivers from sports cars, stock cars and open wheel competition, and pit them against one another on an even playing field. It was a different time because we got all of the top drivers to participate. It was a great chapter in motorsports.”

With their inductions, Goozee and Signore join previous Team Penske Hall of Fame honorees: Roger Penske (2016), Mark Donohue (2016), Rick Mears (2017), Karl Kainhofer (2017), Rusty Wallace (2018), Walter Czarnecki (2018), Don Miller (2019), Dan Luginbuhl (2019), Helio Castroneves (2020), Tim Cindric (2021), Jerry Breon (2021), Larry Bluth (2022) and Clive Howell (2022).

The Team Penske Hall of Fame began in 2016 when Team Penske celebrated its 50th anniversary in motorsports. Inductions into the Team Penske Hall of Fame occur annually. Each year, inductees are chosen from current and former drivers, employees and partners that have made a significant impact on the team and its history. The Hall of Famers are honored both at an event and within the walls of the Team Penske facility located in Mooresville, NC.

About Team Penske
Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports. Cars owned and prepared by Team Penske have produced more than 620 major race wins, over 680 pole positions and 44 championships across open-wheel, stock car and sports car competition. Entering its 58th season in 2024, Team Penske has also earned 19 Indianapolis 500 victories, three Daytona 500 Championships, a Formula 1 win, victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, along with a win in Australia’s legendary Bathurst 1000 race. In 2024, Team Penske will compete in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, NASCAR Cup Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship. “It’s pretty exciting to be able to partner with Zeigler Auto Group and be able to show some hometown pride in 2024,” said Hocevar. “It’s a dream come true for a kid from Michigan to be supported and sponsored by a company from Kalamazoo. I grew up in Portage, just a few miles south of Zeigler’s headquarters, so that makes the partnership personal. I can’t thank Aaron Zeigler enough for the opportunity and for taking a chance on me. We’re going to do our very best to make everyone from Zeigler proud.”

In addition to his NCS debut, Hocevar made four NASCAR Xfinity Series starts for Spire Motorsports in 2023, with a pair of top-10 finishes coming in May at Darlington Raceway (sixth) and Charlotte Motor Speedway (eighth).

“This is a big moment for Spire Motorsports and Carson Hocevar,” said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “It’s important to have partners that can identify with their driver and vice versa. I think we’ve found exactly that. It feels like the perfect match. I got to know Aaron Zeigler and his team when we worked together in 2022 and we’ve become great friends. They see the same potential in Carson that we do.”

The 66th running of the Daytona 500 will be televised live on FOX, Sunday, February 18 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The first of 36 races on the 2024 NCS schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

I want to thank Ron and Rhonda (Sallman) for the opportunity to be able to help with the current growth of the Sherco brand in the United States,” concluded Anderson.

Sean Creech Motorsport Continues Ligier Learning Curve at Daytona

Two-day test at Daytona International Speedway offers an opportunity to gain more knowledge of team’s new Ligier JS P217 ahead of the Rolex 24

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (11 December 2023) – Sean Creech Motorsport (SCM) had a productive test last week, continuing the learning curve with its No. 33 SCM Focal One Ligier JS P217 by pacing 290 laps over two days as the team prepares for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

For full season drivers Lance Willsey and João Barbosa, it was another chance to learn the intricacies of the new Ligier – the only JS P217 currently running in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s highly competitive LMP2 class.

Never having run the car at speed at Daytona, the team came into the test with a lengthy checklist of setup options, amassing a database for the car from scratch while preparing to take on a new class in 2024.

Over the course of five test sessions, including night practice on day two, the drivers and team engineers worked to refine the setup and narrow the balance between speed and traction.

“We made great strides over the course of those two days,” said Willsey, “That said, I think it has, has shown a bright light on the chasm we need to fill between this car and the ORECA chassis. I don’t think it’s an insurmountable gap, but we certainly have a lot of work to do and a lot of things to figure out. Thankfully, the car ran perfectly so we got a lot of run time in and generated a great deal of data. We progressively and sequentially made the car better throughout the two days and while there’s still a very large gap we need to close, I’m quite optimistic we’ll close it – how tight remains to be seen, but it won’t be for lack of effort on the part of the team.”

“We knew it was going to be an uphill climb,” said four-time Rolex 24 winner Barbosa. “But we gained a lot of good information this week, the team did a great job, and the car ran a lot of laps – which is good, we were able to find some of the weak points in the car coming for the 24 hours, which was one of the main goals. We’re generating all our own data, unlike the ORECA teams that have years and years of data and experience on this track. We made some steps forward, and some steps back, but it’s part of learning what the car wants and what we’re trying to achieve. Lance was on pace right away and I was getting more comfortable with the car, so now we just keep working and trying to find a little more speed and get a balance where everybody is more comfortable for running a 24-hour race.”

“We expected this to be a process,” said team principal Sean Creech, who has helped develop numerous cars over the years, including the Callaway Corvette, the Nissan GTP and the Ligier JS P320. “Two steps forward, one step back a few times, but that’s what we expected. This was day one for us at Daytona, so we were working through what didn’t work as well as what did work. We knew we had our work cut out for us, but we have nearly 14 hours of track time and data acquisition down now. I think we’ll be fine.”

The test was also an opportunity to get a look at two new young drivers, both looking for a shot to contest one of the world’s endurance classics – and both newcomers to Daytona.

The team has a fantastic history giving young drivers a shot, with Parker Thompson (now full time with Vasser Sullivan in GTD), Malthe Jakobsen (now a Peugeot junior driver), Nico Pino (contesting the 2024 Michelin Endurance Cup with United Autosport), and Nolan Siegel (a favorite for the 2024 INDY NXT title) all making their mark.

Romanian Filip Ugran, 21, and Englishman Jonny Edgar, 19, each came up through the European open wheel ranks and have now turned their attention toward sports car racing. Ugran finished 10th earlier this year in the FIA Endurance Trophy while Edgar raced in the British GT Championship finale last year in a McLaren GT3.

“I have P2 experience, but this is a different animal,” said Ugran. “This car is quite complicated, especially since you’re driving on the right side, while I’m used to driving from the left side, and it’s also a matter of figuring out how large the car is. But I think we are on the way toward really developing it and, at the end of the day, the car felt much, much better than what I drove in the morning. It was great to work with Lance and João, they both have a lot of experience, especially here at Daytona.”

“I’ve never driven a prototype and it was my first time here,” said Edgar, cousin of F1 Academy race winner Jessica Edgar. “So there was quite a lot to learn, especially at Daytona. The banking was quite interesting at first. It’s like the elevation changes at Eau Rouge the first time you run there, like a roller coaster until you get used to it. But within five laps I felt pretty comfortable and kept improving every lap, and the car improved a great deal over the two days as well. But it was a really enjoyable car to drive and the team was great to work with. It was a great experience.”

“We’re extremely pleased with both Johnny and Filip’s performances,” said Willsey. “They did everything we asked of them and nothing that we asked them not to do, which is critically important. They both bring a lot to the table.”

One more chance to pace the Ligier JS P217 lies ahead for the SCM team, a two-day test at Daytona December 16 and 17.

SCM thanks partner Focal One for its continued support.

The 62nd Rolex 24 at Daytona takes the green flag Saturday, January 27. The race will be broadcast live in the U.S. on the NBC family of networks beginning at 1:30 p.m., while international viewers can watch via IMSA.tv/. IMSA Radio will be available at IMSA.com.
