Common Car Repair Issues: When to Visit an Abbotsford Auto Repair Shop

Even with regular maintenance, car issues are inevitable. From replacing light bulbs to engine replacement, repairs can be expensive.

Staying ahead of common issues saves both money and keeps drivers safe on the road.

Check Engine Light

When your Check Engine light illuminates, it is a sure sign something is amiss with your vehicle.

Some problems can be easily remedied such as tightening a loose gas cap while other more complex problems require professional diagnostic equipment and analysis to locate. Whatever the cause, don’t ignore its warning light – as doing so could result in irreparable damage and costly repairs.

Vehicle onboard computers monitor performance data and relay it to an information display panel which activates the Check Engine Light when there is an issue – for instance due to poor fuel economy or elevated emissions levels.

Home repairs that can easily turn off the Check Engine light may include replacing an oxygen sensor or spark plugs; this should make it go away after several driving cycles.

Other issues, like transmission failure and overheating, may require professional diagnostic equipment in order to identify and repair. You can visit https://www.hubmotor.ca/ for professionals that can help you diagnose your car issues. Working with professionals ensures safe repairs.

Cooling System Issues

The Cooling System is an essential part of your vehicle. Without it, your engine could quickly overheat and fail completely. Over time however, its functionality may deteriorate or wear out leading to issues like leaks, failed water pumps and bad radiators.

Signs that your cooling system may be failing can include seeing coolant leaks beneath your car – usually caused by cracking hoses and gaskets – and/or your temperature gauge approaching red; should this occur you should stop driving immediately and let it cool before driving again. You can click here to learn more about coolant.

Other telltale signs that your cooling system has gone bad include sudden drops in coolant levels or your vehicle overheating – these should both prompt a visit to a mechanic. When these occur, bring it in immediately for service.

The Cooling System includes components like the radiator, expansion tank or coolant reservoir, thermostat, fans and temperature sensors. While each of these systems works independently of one another, they all serve an important function by cooling engine components or sending control signals directly to ECU. You can click the link: https://auto.howstuffworks.com/cooling-system.htm to learn more.

Regular inspection of all of these systems by certified mechanics can reduce risks of overheating and costly repair bills.

Warning Lights

Modern cars are like computers on wheels; they feature numerous sensors that monitor everything from fuel systems and transmissions, to emissions systems. These sensors help the engine control unit (ECU) identify what caused an issue before activating a dashboard warning light to illuminate.

These lights typically use color coded warning lights – green and blue ones being less urgent than red or amber warnings. If a red warning light comes on, it is extremely important that you stop driving immediately and have the problem investigated as long-term neglect may lead to more serious mechanical problems.

Some warning lights are evident, such as an air conditioning light indicating it’s time to recharge the system; others, like the Diesel Particulate Filter warning light, could indicate there may be issues with pollution control systems in your vehicle.

Tires

At some point in time, every driver experiences issues with their car. From minor fixes such as replacing a bulb to major issues that need professional intervention, keeping an eye out for minor issues that can easily be repaired on your own can save both money and time.

Flat tires are one of the most frequently occurring problems, and punctures aren’t the only cause.

Another contributing factor can be deterioration and leakage of valve stems used to fill tires up with air — usually as a result of pothole damage or curb hits; or wear-and-tear on O-rings in tire pressure monitoring systems leading to air loss from certain tires.

Flat tires can usually be repaired fairly easily if you have a spare. First, pump enough air into your tire until finger pressure is firm, then examine closely for any visible holes or leaks that might exist.

If there’s one present, look for its source; either listen out for faint hissing noises near its location, or feel around with your hand to locate punctures or puncture leaks. You can click the link: https://www.azdiyguy.com/fix-easy-trick-fix-flat-utility-tire.html to learn more.

Lift the damaged tire off of the ground using a jack, remove its lug nuts, and set them aside as safekeeping. Roll the tire to the back of your vehicle where tools and safe working environments await; cover its exterior in soapy water to coat all exposed areas, wait a few minutes, check for bubbles; if any appear, mark the spot with a marker pen.

BuzzBallz Named Taylor Reimer’s Primary Sponsor for the 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals

Carrollton, TX, Dec. 15, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — After a year of career high performances including 8 podium finishes, professional driver Taylor Reimer is preparing for one of her biggest annual races, the Chili Bowl Nationals, with BuzzBallz backing her as primary sponsor.

Dubbed as the “Super Bowl of Midget Racing,” the 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals are presented by NOS Energy Drinks and will take place January 8-13, 2024 at the Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, OK. This year marks the 38th annual occurrence of the event.

Reimer said her main goal for this year’s Chili Bowl is to put the BuzzBallz race car in the feature race.

“The Chili Bowl is a hometown race for me,” Reimer said. “I want to give every effort to make my first national sponsor proud.”

From January 8-12, over 300 cars plan to race in preliminary races, each driver competing in one preliminary night. With those results, elimination feature events begin on Saturday, January 13 to determine the starters for the 55-lap A feature race.

“Midget cars are small and mighty, just like BuzzBallz. Taylor is just as mighty as a driver and person, and we’re so proud of all she’s accomplishing,” Frisbie said.

Reimer is currently competing in USAC and Xtreme midget racing events, but is preparing to focus on pavement racing and ARCA Menards Series selected events during her busy 2024 schedule. BuzzBallz will be a primary sponsor for both types of events.

JP Moery, Reimer’s sponsorship liaison, said Reimer’s BuzzBallz race car has become an iconic car over the last three years.

“The two have grown together, BuzzBallz as a fantastic cocktail brand and Taylor as an aspirational driver,” Moery said.

Former Atlanta Motor Speedway President Ed Clark’s career is a blueprint for a racing career

Talking to Ed Clark on the phone, you might not think you’re talking to a man who was once the President of one of NASCAR’s premier race tracks. A smooth, southern drawl covers up the wisdom that Clark gained after nearly three decades working in executive roles at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.

Clark’s interest in the sport came from an uncle, and his interest eventually turned into a job at a local bi-weekly paper in rural Virginia, where Clark covered races before going off to college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. After he graduated from VT, he got his first job in NASCAR at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1977. “Working in NASCAR is all I’ve done since,” Clark said.

Tennessee also ended up being the home of Clark’s first executive role in the sport. While still working at Bristol, he took up the role of Track Manager of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in 1979. In 1981, Clark went to his first corporate boardroom, accepting a role at Speedway Motorsports, which wasn’t the behemoth we know today. “At the time, Charlotte Motor Speedway was the only track we held. In 1990, we purchased Atlanta, and in the summer of ‘92, they asked me to come down and be the General Manager,” Clark explained.

“You know, I got to do something that everybody would love to do and got to do something that wasn’t like a job. It was a pleasure to do it day in and day out,” he added.

After a 27-year career at the track, Clark’s last weekend as President was marked on the calendar as March 13-15 of 2020, the track’s traditional tripleheader spring weekend. However, the COVID-19 pandemic, which was ramping up in the U.S. at that point, had other plans.

“The transporters and cars were in the infield. Then we got a call from NASCAR that, hey, you know, we may be changing the plan for the weekend a little bit. A few hours later, the call was that we might be running this race without any fans. So, you know, we kind of went into, how is this going to work? Before we could even get word out about that decision, they called and said that we’re not going to race at all.”

Not only did Clark not get to see the final scheduled race of his tenure, his retirement dinner was also called off.

“Basically, we all packed up and went home, and none of us were there that weekend,” Clark says. “It was the most bizarre thing when we finally did run the race, you know, like so many events that year. We ran it with no fans in the stands, and that was the most bizarre race I ever attended in my life.”

Asking Clark about his favorite moment as AMS President felt redundant, but I thought I’d try my hand anyway. Sure enough, he gave exactly the answer I thought he would.

“That was the race where Bill Elliott and Alan Kulwicki raced head to head for the championship. Those two guys raced and dueled all day long. And it came down to if Bill Elliott had waited one more lap to pit and led one more lap,” Clark said, recounting the infamous story of the 1992 Hooters 500.

“It was one of the greatest championship duels of all time, if not the greatest,” Clark said. “A couple other things were also happening that weekend. A guy named Richard Petty retired, ran his last race. A guy named Jeff Gordon made his very first Cup start. So there were so many storylines that weekend that made it special. The race was great. That buildup to Richard, for me, was like nothing I’d ever seen,” Clark says. “Of course it’s my first race. I’d never done a race in Atlanta before. So many great memories though,” he added.

Ed Clark may not be the flashiest name in NASCAR history, nor the most well-known employee in the history of SMI. His story of working his way up the ladder to the top rung of a premier track, however, is one that can inspire everyone seeking a career in NASCAR.

And it all started at a bi-weekly newspaper in rural Virginia.

What could have been in Season 3 for third-placed Veloce Racing

Veloce Racing came tantalizingly close to a maiden Extreme E championship title in Chile. The British squad entered the Season 3 finale third in the standings, but an incident-packed Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix meant the team ultimately came up short in the championship decider. Here’s how the Season 3 title slipped away from Veloce Racing’s grasp.

Extreme E Season 3 saw the Veloce Racing team secure the same number of wins as two-time champions Rosberg X Racing (RXR). Taking three victories in a year that saw five teams in the title fight indicates just how close Veloce Racing was to taking home the Season 3 trophy.

In their most successful campaign to date, the team not only stood on the top step of the podium three times, but also secured a debut first-place finish, with Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen securing a healthy number of points and podiums over the course of Season 3.

The London-based outfit entered the Season 3 finale in Chile mathematically within reach of the top spot, sitting just 21 points behind leaders ASXE. However, misfortune for the team in Round 9 denied Veloce Racing their first-ever Extreme E title.

Hansen and Taylor started Round 9 strongly, comfortably winning the very first Heat of the day with an eye-catching new chrome livery, voted for by VEXT token holders. Hansen performed a striking overtake on fellow Swede and eventual Season 3 champion, RXR’s Johan Kristoffersson, in the opening stages to help secure a positive start and an extra championship point for Veloce Racing.

In the next Qualifying Heat it was Taylor’s turn to strike, as the Australian charged off the line to take an early lead. A red flag in the first corner, which saw a roll for ABT CUPRA XE’s Klara Andersson, meant a restart. Taylor appeared unfazed, as the Australian surged into the lead once again.

Taylor remained ahead throughout the opening lap, before a puncture and broken suspension allowed ASXE’s Sanz to shoot round on the outside at the start of lap two.

The situation worsened for Veloce Racing, though, as Munnings, unaware of Taylor slowing down, launched her Andretti Altawkilat Extreme E ODYSSEY 21 over the top of the Veloce car. This brought about the second red flag of the Heat and an end to both teams’ races.

Nevertheless, Veloce Racing still had enough points for a Grand Final appearance. With hopes high for a podium result, having won GridPlay and securing a strong spot on the start the line, the team suffered another DNF due to damage suffered in Qualifying.

Fifth-place for the London-based team in the penultimate round of Season 3 put Veloce Racing just out of reach of a maiden championship title, with the squad’s nearest rivals RXR and ASXE finishing first and second, respectively.

Just as the team started off Season 3 strongly with a win, they ended it with a victory, too. Kicking off Round 10 in positive fashion, Hansen and Taylor finished their Qualifying 1 Heat in second, hot on the heels of ASXE after several striking overtakes from Hansen. Delivering strong starts throughout the weekend, the second Qualifying session proved no different as Taylor stormed to the front of the pack in Q2 Heat 1.

In the Round 10 Grand Final Hansen held his ground ahead of RXR’s Kristofferson to take second place behind ASXE’s Mattias Ekström. Taylor took over in a prime position, and the Australian deployed her ENOWA Hyperdrive at the exit to the Switch Zone to the lead from ASXE’s Laia Sanz to end a strong Season 3 campaign with a third win and a third-place finish in the championship.

Veloce Racing ended the campaign just 27 points adrift of 2023 champions RXR.

Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing driver, said: “It feels amazing to end the season with a victory here in Chile. This course really suited Kevin and myself, and we showed race winning pace throughout the double-header. The team executed everything perfectly today and they truly deserve this victory. While it stung to fall short of a maiden Extreme E title, our campaign this year has been so strong and we will be riding this momentum into 2024.”

Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing driver, said: “This is the perfect end to such a great season with the team. We had a frustrating time in Round 9 where we fell out of contention for the Extreme E title despite showing race winning pace, but I’m so happy we could repay the team with what is our third victory this year. For Molly, myself, and the team to make it into the top three in our first full campaign together is an amazing achievement, and there is so much for us to build on heading into next season.”

Dan Bailey, CEO, Veloce Racing, added: “While we missed out on our maiden Extreme E title there is still so much for Veloce Racing to be proud of. Kevin and Molly put on a stellar performance over the weekend, and the team worked tirelessly to provide a race winning car. The same can be said for the whole season, as we found ourselves wheel-to-wheel with the best on the grid, never dropping out of the top three in the championship standings.

“Our attention has already switched to Season 4 and we’ll be looking to build upon our three victories this year and convert our pace into an Extreme E championship trophy.”

Speedway Shred: Unleashing the Power of Fat Burners in Your Nascar Fitness Regimen

In the high-octane world of NASCAR, peak physical fitness is not just a requirement; it’s a necessity.

Among the diverse strategies available, integrating fat burners into a fitness regimen stands out for its potential to enhance performance. This article delves into the strategic use of fat burners for NASCAR professionals, offering insights grounded in science and practice.

Understanding Fat Burners

The Science Behind Fat Burners

Fat burners are supplements designed to increase fat metabolism, impair fat absorption, increase weight loss, and increase fat oxidation during exercise. Typically, they contain a blend of ingredients, each with its own mechanism of action. Key components often include caffeine, green tea extract, and conjugated linoleic acid, known for their metabolic-enhancing properties.

Selecting the Right Fat Burner

Choosing the right fat burner requires understanding your body’s needs and fitness goals. Factors to consider include:

Tolerance to Stimulants: Assess how your body reacts to ingredients like caffeine.

  • Ingredient Transparency: Opt for supplements with clear, understandable ingredient lists.
  • Health Considerations: Consult with a healthcare professional to ensure the supplement aligns with your health status.
  • Brand Reputation: Research and select products from reputable brands with a proven track record for quality and efficacy.

Integrating Fat Burners into Your Regime

Strategic Supplementation

Integrating fat burners into a fitness regimen demands a strategic approach. Begin by:

  • Starting with a Low Dose: Acclimate your body by starting with a lower dose than recommended and gradually increasing it.
  • Timing: Take fat burners in the morning or before workouts to maximize their effects.

Complementary Practices

  • Fat burners work best when paired with healthy lifestyle choices. Enhance their effectiveness by:
  • Maintaining a balanced diet rich in proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates, including sources like whey protein, can help support muscle growth and overall health.
  • Engaging in regular cardiovascular and strength training exercises.
  • Consistent Sleep Patterns: Ensure adequate and consistent sleep to support recovery and metabolic health.

Safety and Precautions

While beneficial, even the best fat burners can have side effects such as increased heart rate, insomnia, and jitteriness.

Monitoring your body’s response is crucial for safe supplementation.

Consulting with a healthcare provider is imperative before starting any new supplement, especially fat burners. This step is crucial for individuals with pre-existing health conditions or those taking other medications.

  • Understanding Interactions: Be aware of potential interactions between fat burners and other medications or supplements.

The Role of Hydration and Nutrition

Hydration is vital in any fitness regimen, especially when using fat burners. These supplements can increase sweat production, making adequate water intake essential.

A well-rounded diet is the foundation of any effective fitness strategy. Ensure your diet includes:

  • Lean proteins for muscle repair and growth.
  • Complex carbohydrates for sustained energy.

Incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables to ensure a sufficient intake of essential vitamins and minerals.

Monitoring Progress and Adjustments

  • Tracking Fitness Outcomes – Regularly assessing your fitness progress helps fine-tune your regimen. Keep track of metrics like body composition, energy levels, and endurance.
  • Adapting the Regimen – Adaptation is key in any fitness journey. Be prepared to adjust dosages, timing, and even the choice of fat burner as your body’s response evolves.
  • Feedback and Reviews: Utilize feedback from trainers or peers, and consider user reviews to make informed adjustments to your regimen.

Conclusion

Incorporating fat burners into your NASCAR fitness regimen can be a game-changer, provided it’s done with care, knowledge, and a commitment to overall health.

Remember, these supplements are tools to augment a well-rounded fitness strategy, not replacements for sound nutrition and rigorous training. By adopting a meticulous and informed approach, you can harness the full potential of fat burners to rev up your fitness journey

UTV manufacturers invited to participate in the UNLTD Off-Road Racing UTV World Championship Manufacturers Cup

UNLTD Off-Road Racing announced today that The UTV World Championship will expand from a single race to a three-race series as part of the newly formed UNLTD Off-Road Racing Championship Series. In addition, all of the top UTV manufacturers have been invited to participate in the UNLTD Off-Road Racing UTV World Championship Manufacturers Cup. Special awards and recognition will be given to the manufacturer with the most successful teams and vehicles at the conclusion of the UNLTD season.

“The UTV platform has evolved quickly to become one of the most capable off-road vehicle platforms on the planet! It’s time we had a challenge that truly puts them to the test,” said UNLTD Off-Road Racing CEO Matt Martelli. “Less than 50% of the competitors will likely finish all 1100 miles of the UTV World Championship Series. This is by far the most challenging race series for UTV’s ever created!”

The UTV World Championship was started in 2015 as a premiere showcase and ultimate proving ground for UTV manufacturers, aftermarket products, and racers. It quickly grew into one of the biggest and most coveted races in the sport, and launched the careers of countless factory backed athletes.

In 2020, the event was moved from Laughlin to Lake Havasu City and the format and courses were changed to make the event more challenging. For the past two years the event has been part of The California 300 Off-Road Race in Barstow, California. In 2024, the UTV World Championship will feature a dedicated “Youth UTV World Championship” that will add additional prizes and prestige to the already wildly popular event.

“We started UTV Youth racing in 2015 as a way to help foster up-and-coming racers and give them a massive stage to compete on. Next year, we’re ramping that up and giving Youth racers a three race series that will allow them to compete alongside some of the best in the sport. We feel it’s time they receive special recognition for their classes and put them front and center at our start/finish line spectating,” stated UNLTD Event Director Kilian Hamlin.

Mazda specifies medium-term targets and roadmap towards achieving carbon neutrality

— Mazda is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions from its domestic plants, etc. by approximately 70% and achieve over 70% of non-fossil fuel electricity usage by FY2030 —

TOKYO, Dec 14, 2023 – (JCN Newswire) – Mazda Motor Corporation (“Mazda”) today specified the medium-term targets and roadmap towards achieving carbon neutrality at its plants and operational sites in Japan(1), which account for approximately 75% of its global total CO2 emissions, as part of its efforts to attain carbon neutrality at all Mazda plants globally by 2035 and across the whole supply chain by 2050. The medium-term goal is to reduce, by FY2030, its CO2 emissions by 69% in comparison to FY2013 levels. Mazda will work steadily, in line with its roadmap, to follow through on the policies it already has in place and achieve this medium-term goal.

Mazda positions the achievement of carbon neutrality as one of its key initiatives of management policy up to 2030. To achieve carbon neutrality at all of its plants around the world, Mazda will be focusing on three pillars: energy conservation, shifting to renewable energy, and introducing carbon neutral fuels. Along with the details of these three pillars, Mazda specified the roadmap for its domestic plants and operational sites which have a strong effect on its ability to achieve carbon neutrality.

Roadmap for achieving carbon neutral at Mazda’s plants and operational sites in Japan

In terms of energy conservation, Mazda will be introducing Internal Carbon Pricing(2) as one of the capital investment criteria. As a result, investment decisions will take the future price of carbon trading into account and prioritize investments with a major contribution to CO2 emissions reduction. Mazda will continue working in all areas, including production and indirect departments such as infrastructure, to improve the efficiency of our facilities and transform our technology.

In terms of introducing renewable energy, Mazda will be switching the fuel used to supply the power generation facilities of MCM Energy Service Co., Ltd. (Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture), at Hiroshima plant Ujina District (Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture) from fossil fuels to liquid ammonia(3), while also making use of corporate PPA(4) signed with other local parties, and increasing the purchase of non-fossil fuel derived sustainable energy from power companies. As a result of these policies, Mazda plans to achieve a usage ratio for non-fossil fuel power of 75% by FY2030.

To introduce carbon neutral fuels, Mazda will be switching the fuel used to power vehicles for transport within the company from diesel to a next-generation biofuel. In cases where generating power from alternative fuel sources proves difficult, we will make use of J-credits(5) to promote forestry preservation and re-forestry to absorb CO2 in the Chugoku region and other regions.

Commenting on this latest announcement, Takeshi Mukai, Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer (Oversight of Quality, Purchasing, Production, Business Logistics and Carbon Neutrality; Assistant to the Officer overseeing Cost Innovation) said “Mazda will move forward with carbon neutral initiatives in line with our plans to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the prevention of global warming across all of our processes including manufacturing transportation, usage, and recycling/disposal, as we believe that such efforts are a core responsibility of automotive manufacturers. NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (Dec. 13, 2023) – Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) celebrated a momentous year of fundraising at North Wilkesboro Speedway by hosting area nonprofits, supporters and community advocates at the historic track to tie a bow on a record-setting year. In SCC’s first full year at North Wilkesboro, the organization distributed $215,000 to 14 area charities who make a direct impact to improve the lives of area children in need. For 2023, North Wilkesboro ranked fifth amongst all 11 SCC chapters nationwide in terms of dollars granted, thanks in large part to the generous donations of supporters and race fans. Following a Christmas-themed reception in the new Turn 4 hospitality building at the speedway, guests were treated to ride-alongs on the newly paved asphalt surface of the 0.625-mile short track.

North Wilkesboro Speedway was home to many historic moments this year, from hosting NASCAR’s Cup Series return for the first time since 1996 with the May 21 running of the NASCAR All-Star Race to raising record-setting numbers for Speedway Children’s Charities. All-Star week kicked off with the inaugural Bootleggers Cup Golf Tournament, which was the second largest charity golf event across all SCC chapters. Throughout the week, fans purchased tickets for a 50/50 raffle, raising the most money ever through SCC for such a fundraiser. Proceeds from the first-ever Cars & Jars car show, sales of jars of asphalt from the old track pavement and multiple laps-for-charity drive-the-track events during 2023 also contributed to the fundraising grants.

“The Wilkes County community has truly rallied around the North Wilkesboro Speedway and supported Speedway Children’s Charities through every event and opportunity,” said Jessica Fickenscher, national managing director of Speedway Children’s Charities. “The impact SCC will make for children in need through our nonprofit grant recipients is significant, and we are so grateful for the fans, supporters and community advocates who have made this possible.”

The following 14 area nonprofits received life-impacting grants to change and shape the lives of Wilkes County area children in need:

  • Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission (BROC)
  • Catherine H. Barber Memorial Homeless Shelter
  • Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home
  • Anchor Ridge
