  • Lexus unveiled its model lineup, which aims to deliver new value in response to diversifying customer needs across the globe, for the first time in Japan.
  • Lexus has developed a customer experience program for the ROV Concept that is equipped with a hydrogen engine, with the aim of coexisting with nature.
  • Lexus enhances its unique battery EV development and promotional activities that are geared towards achieving a carbon-neutral society.

TOKYO, Sept 20, 2023 – (JCN Newswire) – On September 15th (Friday) and 16th (Saturday), Lexus hosted the LEXUS SHOWCASE event for global media, where they shared insights into the diversification and electrification efforts of the Lexus brand. Lexus International President, Takashi Watanabe, introduced Lexus’ new model lineup that meets the diversified needs of customers and regions across the world. Additionally, he discussed the future direction of Lexus’ vehicle manufacturing as well as efforts to take on the challenge of developing and promoting battery EVs to achieve a carbon-neutral society.

The LEXUS SHOWCASE presented a new model lineup that world premiered in other regions in the first of half of 2023, together for the first time in Japan. In addition, Lexus announced the start of a customer experience program1 for the ROV Concept2 which is equipped with a hydrogen engine. This program aims to deliver an experience where customers feel connected to the harmony of nature, maintain the joy of driving while remaining environmentally friendly, and experience a driving sensation that only engine-powered vehicles can offer. Lexus also announced the direction of future vehicle development through electrification technology, which is currently under development, with the goal of providing a driving experience unique to the brand.

Since its inception in 1989, Lexus has upheld the mindset of “Pushing Boundaries,” constantly challenging the conventional notions of luxury cars and consistently delivering new technologies and values to its customers. As a luxury lifestyle brand, we will remain agile and attentive to customer needs and the evolving times, unwavering in our endeavor to craft cars that bring a smile to customers’ faces.

Diversity

Offering new values of diversified luxury, the model lineup announced for 2023 was debuted for the first time in Japan. The “LM” stands as a bold new option for chauffeur-driven vehicles. The “LBX” transcends the conventional size hierarchy and is a car for customers with a discerning sense of taste that can be driven casually. The “GX” combines genuine off-road capability with refined on-road luxury, and the “TX” caters exclusively to North American customers with its spacious three-row seating, ensuring comfortable travel. We will continue to deliver models that meet the diversified needs of our customers around the world. In response to the expectations and requests of many customers, we plan to release the GX in Japan within the next year.

Furthermore, Lexus will launch a customer experience program aimed at the future practical application of the ROV Concept (ROV), which features a Lexus first hydrogen powered engine. In developing the ROV, the goal was to offer a distinctive driving experience not possible with regular passenger cars. This was achieved through a compact body size and exceptional off-road capabilities, which allows for an exhilarating driving experience and a chance to connect with the grandeur of nature. By using a hydrogen engine, the ROV aims a balance between environmental consciousness and the thrill of feeling the heartbeat of an engine. ROV utilizes low environmental impact technologies in its vehicle components thanks to the cooperation of partner companies who share the same vision. Lexus will continue to provide a variety of experiences that allow customers to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle, based on the idea of “inspiring a deeper love and understanding of nature”. Additionally, Lexus will use the opinions collected through customer experience programs as feedback to further advance future technological developments for practical applications.

Electrification

Lexus will continue its efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral society, centered around battery EVs. As a car manufacturer, we will also provide new services and joy of driving. For about 10 years, Lexus has been working on enhancing the basic performance and characteristics of its vehicles as well as refining the taste of the Lexus’ driving signature. This driving expereince will of course be carried forward with the battery EV and taken to an even higher level with our electrification technology. The core technologies we have been working on include seamless drive force control with the DIRECT4 four-wheel drive system and the Steer-by-Wire system, which provides an intuitive, linear steering feel. We will continue to pursue a natural dialogue between driver and car that evnokes the joy of driving. In addition, with the AE86 and the RZ Sports Concept which were unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon this January, we are rethinking new ways to inspire the love of driving and cars, even with battery EVs, as we work towards becoming a carbon neutral.

Furthermore, through the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept, we will drive the development of future electrification technologies such as all-embracing batteries, aerodynamics, weight reduction, and high rigidity.

In addition, we will take on the challenge of sustainable initiatives that consider the natural environment. Without being bound by conventional values of luxury, we will utilize recycled and man-made materials to create new, high-quality interiors. Furthermore, in preparation for the full-fledged adoption of battery EVs in the future, the “Lexus Electrified Program” will deploy BEV concierges at all 186 dealers*3 to assist customers with any problems they may have. Additionally we will be expanding the charging infrastructure, enhance services and provide experiences that enrich our customers lifestyle.

In 2026, Lexus will introduce a next-generation battery EV with a revolutionary modular vehicle body structure, a drastically changed production method, and a completely renewed software platform. This concept model will be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show in October of this year as part of Lexus commitment to changing the future of automobiles through electrification.

The Hidden Costs of DIY Body Repair: Why Professional Help Matters

Are you a car owner looking to save money on repairs and maintenance? Then, you might have searched online for instructions on how to perform DIY bodywork repairs. But you should be aware that doing car repairs yourself often results in additional costs and imposes limitations.

When you take on a modest automotive problem, doing your own auto body repair can help you save a lot of money and make you feel accomplished. But when it comes to dealing with severe problems like significant crash damage, it can get pretty difficult, quickly. Since the majority of novice DIYers lack bodywork skills, this can be a significant issue.

In this blog post, we will explore why professional help matters, the potential pitfalls of DIY auto body repair, and when it’s best to seek professional expertise.

What is Body Repair?

Bodywork is the process of restoring damaged external car components to their pre-damage state. This may entail correcting collision damage as well as repairing dents and scratches. The goal of body repair is to make the car look better while ensuring it remains sturdy and reliable.

Instead of hiring an auto body shop, have you considered doing your own bodywork repairs? It might not be as simple as you think. You can’t just choose car maintenance at random. Here are 5 things to think about before choosing to conduct your own auto-body work:

The Complexity of Body Repair

Body work on a car can be much more complex than it initially appears. From properly assessing the damage to selecting the right tools and materials, each step requires expertise and precision. Without the necessary experience, you may end up with subpar results or further damage to the vehicle.

The Cost of Trial and Error

There’s a learning curve when attempting DIY body repair. We will unavoidably make mistakes along the way, which will cost us time, money, and resources. Trial and error can be expensive, so it is wiser to see a specialist right away.

Time and Effort

DIY body repair is a time-consuming process that requires patience and significant effort. Before starting a repair, think about whether you have enough time and energy for it. You need to consider research, preparation, and the actual work.

Professional technicians have the expertise and can complete repairs efficiently, saving you valuable time and effort.

Quality of Workmanship

Professional auto body technicians have undergone all the necessary training needed to fix cars. With years of experience under their belts, they surpass the craftsmanship and attention to detail of unskilled do-it-yourselfers. With expert assistance, you can expect a flawless repair that preserves your car’s value while restoring its beauty.

Proper Tools and Equipment

Repairing cars requires special tools and equipment that you might not have lying around in your toolbox. Buying wrench sets, jacks, or pry bars can be very costly, making this option impractical. But, there’s also the option of renting them, which might be cheaper than buying them altogether.

Without the right tools, you’ll find it harder to fix your car properly. Professional technicians usually have access to high-quality tools, equipment, and machines, which ensures high-quality outcomes on their auto bodywork repairs.

How Much Will a DIY Car Repair Cost You?

Do you have a car that needs fixing? Are you considering fixing it yourself? You can save a lot of money by doing your own repairs, but it’s important to familiarize yourself with the costs beforehand.

The first thing you need to consider is the cost of the replacement parts. Depending on the part that needs to be replaced, prices may vary. If you’re replacing air filters or doing oil changes, the prices may lean on the cheaper side.

Always choose the best-quality car parts, as they can make a huge difference in the overall cost of repairs. It’s nice to save a few bucks on parts, but cheaper options don’t always mean high-quality. So, it’s better to spend a little more to save yourself the time, effort, and money from having to redo the repairs sooner than expected.

While DIY repairs can save money initially, mistakes can lead to more expensive damage later. Many vehicle owners ultimately rely on a professional Auto Body Shop to properly diagnose structural damage, restore paint, and ensure the vehicle meets safety and manufacturer standards.

While home auto body repairs can save you money, they also require an investment of your time. Think about how much your time is worth, and factor in that you’ll be taking time off work to do the collision repair. Sometimes, it might make more financial sense to pay a professional if the repair is particularly time-consuming or complex.

Is a DIY Car Repair Worth It?

When your car starts making strange noises or if the warning lights on your dashboard keep blinking, it might need to be checked and repaired. However, professional car repairs are expensive, so most people opt for DIY.

DIY car repair can be tempting since it promises cost savings and gives you a sense of accomplishment. But, before you start your DIY journey, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of DIY car repairs. This might help you determine whether or not choosing to DIY your car repairs is worth it.

The Pros of DIY Car Repair

1. Cost Savings: One of the most alluring benefits of doing DIY auto maintenance is the cost savings. In repair shops, labor costs can mount up quickly, particularly for difficult projects. You can save a lot of money by handling it yourself and putting the money to other uses.

2. Learning Opportunity: DIY auto body repair is a chance to gain inner knowledge about your car. Learn how your car functions so you can be more independent in maintaining and correcting little problems.

3. Convenience: You may work around your schedule by performing DIY repairs. There’s no need to schedule meetings, leave your car behind, or wait for someone else to fix it. You have complete authority over the repair procedure.

4. Sense of accomplishment: Finishing a DIY car repair successfully can be very fulfilling. It’s a concrete accomplishment that gives you more self-assurance and pride.

The Cons of DIY Car Repair

1. Insufficient Knowledge: Unless you’re an experienced mechanic, there’s a good possibility you might not have the knowledge necessary to identify and resolve complex problems. Future costly repairs can result from mistakes.

2. Time-consuming: Should you lack experience, DIY auto repairs may take longer than expected. It could take you all weekend to finish something that would take an expert only a few hours.

3. Requirement for Equipment and Space: To do good do-it-yourself auto repairs, you’ll need the right equipment and a suitable workspace. These essentials can be costly to buy and may not be cost-effective for irregular maintenance.

4. Warranty Concerns: Concerns about the warranty. Performing your own repairs could violate your vehicle’s warranty if it is still active. Before trying any DIY repairs, it’s crucial to review your warranty conditions.

5. Safety concerns: Performing some auto repairs entails safety concerns, particularly if you’re using heavy equipment or working with electrical components. Safety must always come first, and essential safety measures must be taken.

When to Seek Professional Help for Body Repair

DIY car repair is good for small scratches and dings, but not for big repairs. It can be fun and save money, but there are limits and extra costs to consider. This is why it’s best to seek professional help when the repair is quite extensive. They can help irrespective of how the car or vehicle, in general, is used, whether personal or commercial.

For instance, in the case of the latter, try finding for one by using the keywords “commercial body shop near me“. This might help you to find the right shop especially if you own a fleet business. In any case, here are a set of situations that may force you to call upon professional help:

  • Complex or Extensive Damage: Getting professional help is essential if the damage is significant or affects structural elements. This protects the structural integrity and safety of your car.
  • Lack of Time or Experience: It is best to leave the repair to a qualified professional if you don’t have the time or experience necessary.
  • Painting matching and finishing: Skill and specialized tools are needed to achieve a flawless paint match and finish. Professional technicians have the knowledge and equipment needed to guarantee a perfect outcome.
  • Insurance Claims: If the repair is necessary as part of an insurance claim, collaborating with a reputable collision repair facility can assist in speeding up the procedure. Your rights are also safeguarded as a result of this.

Since joining Stewart-Haas Racing, you’ve won a pole and finished runner-up at Texas. Is this a track that fits your style?

“I just think our organization has found a lot of success figuring out Texas over the years and we had one of the fastest cars in 2019 and finished second to Kevin (Harvick), so we have been really successful as a team at Texas. With this NextGen car, it’s been a bit of a toss-up at the 1.5-mile tracks. Sometimes we hit on it and sometimes we don’t, so we just have to hope what we’re bringing to Texas this weekend is the right setup. I’m really confident there, so if we do unload well, I know we can race up front with the guys contending in the playoffs. Texas always has a huge celebration for the winner, so this would be a really cool track to add to the list and close out the season with a win.”

● Briscoe’s best finish in two starts at Texas came in the first race of the Round of 12 of last year’s playoffs. Briscoe started 30th but powered his way to a fifth-place finish. The team struggled early in the race but used fuel strategy to its advantage to earn points and set up a run to the Round of 8.

● In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Briscoe has two top-fives in five starts at Texas with a best finish of second in March 2020. He also competed in two NASCAR Truck Series races at the track, finishing second and fourth in the 2017 events, respectively.

Chase Briscoe, Driver of the No. 14 Rush Truck Centers/Cummins Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

What has been the toughest part of racing at Texas?

“We’ve really had a hard time finding the right balance. That’s something we deal with at a lot of the intermediate tracks, but Texas has been really tough. The track changed a lot with the changes that were made years ago and I think we just haven’t quite gotten it right with the NextGen.”

Last year the No. 14 team used fuel strategy to earn a top-five finish at Texas. Is that something you could do again to get yourself in position to finish inside the top-10?

“I think so. We are definitely in position to try something different from what the playoff guys are doing. Track position is big at the intermediate tracks. The race gets to a point where it’s going to be really hard to pass, so if we can get up there, we might be able to hold on to the spot on a long, green-flag run. But we really need to use these last few races to work on our playbook. We have so much to learn and figure out and, if we don’t use this time for that, it could put us behind for next season.”

It’s a tough racetrack, probably one of the fastest we go to. I think we can go there and build off the speed we’ve had at mile and a half tracks this year. I am open minded with no expectations and look forward to doing what this group is capable of. I’m just going to try to execute and give ourselves the best option to go and have a good day.” – Daniel Hemric on Texas Motor Speedway

  • He sits 18 points above the cutline in fifth with two races remaining in the NXS Playoffs Round of 12. He’s scored one win, six top five and 10 top-10 finishes in 2023.

Our intermediate package was really strong earlier in the season, and we’ve tried to get back to that point over the last couple months. If we can get out of there with some stage points and a solid finish, we’ll be sitting nicely heading into Charlotte.” – Chandler Smith on Texas Motor Speedway

● Last Weekend: Preece returned to Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway last Saturday night for some short-track action under the lights. He qualified the No. 41 Ford Mustang 17th and finished Stage 1 in that same position. From there, he rallied toward the front and was able to stay out of trouble, finishing ninth in Stage 2. Fast pit stops and strong tire strategy kept him near the front and he took the checkered flag in 12th place, marking his eighth top-15 and third top-12 of the season.

● Where He Stands: Preece heads to Texas 24th in the driver standings with 484 points.

Ryan Preece, Driver of the No. 41 Autodesk Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing

What are your thoughts heading to Texas this weekend after having a strong race at Bristol last Saturday?

“I’m looking forward to getting to Texas and seeing what this No. 41 team can do. We’ve been working hard on different setups and figuring out what works best for us to show the most speed at these types of tracks. We had a really good weekend at Bristol and that’s exactly what we needed. I’ve mentioned it before, but consistencty is what we’re looking for most in these final races, so we want to keep that going. SHR has had speed at Texas in the past and I think, if we bring that with us this weekend, we can have a really decent day.”

Although you’re not competing for the championship this season, does anything change in these final races from your perspective?
“Nothing changes for me. This is my job and this is what I’ve worked my whole life for, so nothing changes for me. I’m at the shop during the week, in the simulator and working out. I keep the same routine as best I can during the week. My crew chief Chad (Johnston) and I are always talking and working on different ways to approach things to consistently get better. We want to continue qualifying better and better each weekend and then putting ourselves in position to run up front and stay out of trouble throughout the entire race. That will be important this week at Texas and definitely next weekend at Talladega. I’m looking forward to it.”

Lone Star Racing Scores First IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Podium and Completes Successful IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Indianapolis Motor Speedway Debut

CRESSON, Texas (September 19, 2023) – Lone Star Racing scored a milestone race finish for an established program and successfully launched a new one in a full weekend of competition for the Texas-based team and co-drivers Anton Dias Perera and Scott Andrews in the IMSA Battle on the Bricks this past Saturday and Sunday on the road course at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).

Doubling up on their Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing programs on the 2.439-mile IMS road course, Lone Star, Perera and Andrews made their debut together in top-tier IMSA competition in Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race while continuing their competitive IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) campaign in Saturday’s four-hour Indianapolis Motor Speedway 240.

Both efforts reached and even maximized their goals in a successful weekend, but it was Saturday’s fast and frenzied four-hour race into darkness in which the Lone Star team and drivers truly shined.

A highlight event of this year’s full-season campaign by Perera and Andrews in the No. 27 Lone Star Racing/Bluff City Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 in Pilot Challenge GS, the four-hour race started at 4:30 p.m. EDT and literally raced into the night for the checkered flag at 8:30 p.m. EDT.

After a clean and competitive opening driving stint by Perera, Andrews challenged in the lead pack throughout the final half of the race and stepped up in a mad dash to the finish to challenge for the win. With the clock winding down, Andrews kept the pressure on the race leader in the closing minutes, almost closing enough to attempt a pass, but he ultimately crossed the finish line a scant 0.566 of a second behind the winner.

The second place finish was still a season-best result for the No. 27 Lone Star Racing team and drivers after coming so close to reaching the podium – if not a victory – several times this season.

Lone Star and its drivers carried the momentum of Saturday night’s thriller straight into their debut as a team in the GT Daytona (GTD) class in the No. 15 Lone Star Racing/Bluff City Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 on Sunday.

Rebounding from a pair of early spins, the Lone Star team and drivers met their pre-race goal of finishing in their GTD debut together. Andrews brought the No. 15 across the finish line in 15th place, just one lap behind the front runners.

“It’s really validating for our program, it’s satisfying for our guys to get the result, get a podium,” said AJ Petersen, Lone Star Racing Team Manager and Technical Director. “Of course, we still wanted more. We’re always wanting more, but it was very satisfying Saturday night to finally make it to victory lane. I am also proud of hitting our goal of finishing Sunday’s race in Anton’s GT3 debut. All weekend our execution as a team was fantastic, Anton drove very well and improved all weekend, and you can count on Scott to always be fast. Everybody gets along and works well together. It’s a consistent feeling in the tent. We’re all in it, pulling in the same direction, and that’s rare.”

Perera and Andrews are in their first season racing with Lone Star but the team gelled from their very first race together at Daytona in January.

“In GT4, a podium was a long time coming,” Perera said. “It was a long race, so it was important not to have any damage and bring the car home on the lead lap. Scott Andrews is a fast driver, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is great on long runs, and the car comes alive as the race goes on. The team has been working well together so that was good. It was a brand-new track for me, I’ve never been here, which is always challenging, especially in a new car on Sunday. We checked all the boxes. I spent most of my time on how to manage traffic and keep the car clean, but it was definitely a baptism by fire. It was frenzied and fast paced but it was really good, and for the team as well. Lots of positives and a lot of things to work on too.”

“It was a successful weekend,” Andrews said. We walked away with a GS trophy, which had definitely been a long time coming for this particular operation. I’m glad to finally get the monkey off our backs, so to speak. Sunday’s race was about learning. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 program is new and I’m proud to be a part of it. We’ll definitely be able to use this as a building block and continue moving forward.”

Emotions ran high as the Lone Star team and drivers celebrated their first visit to victory lane together on the hallowed ground of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“It’s just an absolute testament to the team,” Andrews said. “We just never give up, we work so hard and tirelessly, particularly for this weekend’s double-duty effort. I’m just so happy, this result is for my teammates and for my family back home in Australia. They’ve been supporting me. I haven’t lived there in 10 years, do go back for Christmas, but they’re not over here. So this is for them, for Anton and the whole team.”

Petersen thought of his family and Lone Star Racing owner and driver Dan Knox in victory lane and recalled the team’s role in last October’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Indianapolis 8 Hour victory by Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Racing. Petersen worked with the Hong Kong-based team throughout the event and Lone Star provided the winning Mercedes-AMG GT3 and all of the foundational support for the effort, including pit and paddock equipment and all car setup.

“None of us could make the commitment required to be successful at this level of competition without the love, support and incredible understanding of our families,” Petersen said. “I am thinking of and have to thank my wife and children back home in Texas while we are up here on the podium at Indianapolis. I am also really thankful for Dan. He was texting me the whole race, this result is for him, and we wouldn’t even be here without him. This one means a little more than last year, just because it was all us. We’ve had stronger cars and had stronger performances in the past but it just came together Saturday.”

Next up for Lone Star Racing is a return to Indy in three weeks with a multi-car effort for this year’s Indianapolis 8 Hour and season-ending SRO Motorsports America race weekend, October 5 – 8. One weekend later, the IMSA season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans takes place at Michelin Raceway Laguna Seca where Andrews, Perera and the No. 27 team will get a final shot at securing their first GS race win of the season in Friday’s Michelin Pilot Challenge finale.

How to Safely Navigate Dangerous Roads and Prevent Car Accidents in New Jersey

The roads in New Jersey can occasionally be difficult to drive on. To protect everyone’s safety, drivers must be ready for various situations like rain, snow, and congested junctions. Whether you’re a beginner driver or an experienced one, this article offers helpful advice for everyone utilizing beginner Jersey roadways.

We’ll go into certain guidelines, rules, and best practices that can assist you in navigating even the most challenging stretches of our state’s roads. Keeping yourself and other drivers safe by being informed and taking these precautions will help lower the likelihood of accidents.

Navigating Dangerous Road Conditions in New Jersey

New Jersey roads present a variety of challenges to drivers. One common issue is potholes. These are holes in the road’s surface, often caused by wear and tear, that can damage vehicles. Additionally, the state experiences various weather conditions that can make driving tricky. Icy roads, especially during the winter months, can become slippery and lead to skidding if drivers are not careful. Rain can create wet road surfaces, making it harder for vehicles to grip the road.

Furthermore, there are certain roads and intersections in New Jersey that have gained a reputation for being particularly hazardous. Drivers must be extra cautious when navigating these areas. Staying alert, understanding the unique challenges of New Jersey’s roadways, and adhering to the safety measures discussed in this article can significantly decrease the risks and ensure safer travel for everyone.

Essential Driving Safety Tips for New Jersey Roadways

Driving safely in New Jersey requires a combination of preparedness and adherence to vital safety practices. Here are some crucial guidelines every driver should follow:

Maintain Your Vehicle

The condition of your car plays a central role in ensuring safety on the roads. Regularly schedule check-ups to inspect essential components. It’s imperative to ensure that the tires are in good shape, providing the necessary grip. Additionally, brakes must be examined frequently to ascertain they function optimally, allowing drivers to stop when needed without complications.

Stay Updated with Weather Forecasts

Weather conditions significantly influence road safety. Before heading out, especially during the winter months, always check the weather forecast. This will provide insight into potential road conditions, preparing drivers for what lies ahead and allowing them to take necessary precautions.

Avoid Distracted Driving

Using a phone, adjusting the radio, or engaging in other distractions while driving can have serious consequences. Distractions reduce a driver’s reaction time and awareness, increasing the likelihood of accidents. It’s essential to remain focused on the road at all times.

Observe Speed Limits

Speed limits are set for a reason. They are determined based on road conditions, traffic volume, and other factors to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Drivers must respect these limits, especially in areas notorious for accidents. Faster speeds may reduce the driver’s ability to steer safely around curves or objects in the roadway.

Use Turn Signals

Indicating your intentions on the road is not just courteous but also a safety necessity. Turn signals inform other drivers of your plans, allowing them to react appropriately. Always ensure you signal well in advance before making a turn or changing lanes.

Adapting to New Jersey’s Diverse Road Conditions

In New Jersey, drivers encounter a variety of road conditions. It’s essential to adjust driving habits accordingly for safety.

Rain and Wet Roads

Wet roads can be slippery. It’s vital to increase the distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. This provides more time to react if the car ahead stops suddenly. Always turn on your headlights in the rain, ensuring you’re visible to others. Moreover, drive at a moderate speed to prevent hydroplaning, where the car slides uncontrollably on a wet surface.

Snow and Ice

Winter roads in New Jersey can be treacherous. Snow tires enhance grip on snowy and icy surfaces, making them a wise choice. Slowing down is also crucial, as higher speeds can lead to skidding. When braking on icy roads, do so gently to avoid losing control of the vehicle.

Night Driving

Driving after dark presents its own challenges. Ensure all headlights and tail lights are working correctly for clear vision and to signal your presence to other drivers. Always be on the lookout for animals, especially in less urban areas, as they can suddenly appear on roads. Moreover, even if the road seems clear, reduce your speed. Visibility decreases at night, so slower speeds provide more reaction time for unexpected obstacles.

Adapting to these conditions is essential for every driver’s safety on New Jersey’s roads. By recognizing and understanding these challenges, one can make informed decisions and navigate safely.

The Crucial Role of Defensive Driving in New Jersey

Defensive driving refers to a set of skills that allow individuals to drive safely by anticipating potential dangers and responding effectively. It’s not just about how you drive, but also about predicting and preparing for how others might drive. The importance of this driving approach cannot be overstated, as it plays a vital role in preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users.

Key defensive driving strategies include:

Anticipating Other Drivers

This means always being prepared for the unexpected moves of other drivers. By predicting what others might do, you can make safer decisions.

Staying Alert

It’s essential to remain attentive and avoid distractions. This ensures quick reaction times to any sudden changes on the road.

Maintaining Safe Distances

Keeping a reasonable gap between your vehicle and the one ahead allows more time to stop if necessary.

New Jersey’s Traffic Laws and Regulations

To further ensure safety, New Jersey has specific traffic laws in place. These laws aim to guide drivers toward safer habits. For instance:

Cell Phone Use

New Jersey prohibits the use of handheld devices while driving, reducing distractions.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

It’s illegal to operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This law aims to keep impaired drivers off the roads.

Seat Belt Requirements

All passengers in a vehicle, both front and back, are required to wear seat belts. This simple action can greatly reduce injury in case of a collision

Emerging Technologies Enhancing Road Safety

With advancements in technology, many modern vehicles are now equipped with tools designed to assist drivers and bolster safety. Some of these innovations include:

Backup Cameras

These cameras provide drivers with a clear view of the area behind their vehicle, reducing the risk of collisions while reversing.

Lane Departure Warnings

This system alerts drivers if they unintentionally drift out of their lane, helping to prevent potential accidents.

Adaptive Cruise Control

This feature automatically adjusts a vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe distance from the car ahead, offering added comfort and protection on highways.

While these technologies offer valuable support, it’s essential for drivers to understand and use them correctly. Relying solely on them without proper knowledge can lead to misjudgments.

Seeking Legal Guidance After a Road Incident in Jersey City

In the unfortunate event of a car accident in New Jersey, understanding your rights and legal options is crucial. A specialized car accident or jersey city personal injury lawyer in the area can offer valuable assistance. Such professionals are well-versed in local regulations and can guide victims through the complexities of seeking rightful compensation.

Whether it’s navigating insurance claims or pursuing legal action, having a trusted Jersey City car accident lawyer by your side can make a significant difference. Their expertise ensures that those affected by road accidents receive the support and justice they deserve.

Promoting Road Safety Through Public Awareness and Education

In addition to technological advancements, community efforts play a crucial role in enhancing road safety. New Jersey has initiated several campaigns and programs focused on educating the public about safe driving habits. These initiatives emphasize the collective responsibility of the community to ensure safer roads.

Public participation in these programs, whether it’s attending seminars or following road safety campaigns, is vital. An informed community can make better decisions on the road, leading to fewer accidents and a safer driving environment for everyone. It’s not just about individual drivers; it’s about the entire community coming together for the shared goal of road safety.

Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops / Chevron Delo Ford Mustang Team Texas Motor Speedway Competition Notes

TEAM AND RACE NOTES:

Although Michael McDowell and the No. 34 team will not be racing for the NASCAR Cup Series championship, this team is still on a mission to make history for Front Row Motorsports (FRM).

As teams get eliminated from the playoffs, points are reset to 2,000 plus points earned in the playoffs. This means, theoretically, McDowell can finish as high as fifth in the championship.

For McDowell and the No. 34 team, the goal is setting a new high mark in the history of FRM at the end of the season. McDowell and Chris Buescher currently own the best season-end mark for FRM at 16th.

Sunday’s race is live on the USA Network at 3:30 p.m. ET.

COMPETITION NOTES:

In 2021, McDowell and the No. 34 team finished 16th in the NASCAR Cup Series championship. Heading into the Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), McDowell is 16th in points, but only 12 points out of 13th as the team attempts to gain more spots by the end of the season.

McDowell will be making his 25th start at TMS. His best start is fifth and finish is 11th last season.

CREW CHIEF TRAVIS PETERSON:

“We’re disappointed to be eliminated from the playoffs, but there is still a lot to race for. It’s cool to chase history for FRM and we want to be able to do that for our organization and for Michael.”

DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:

“This is part of the process for us. We didn’t have what we needed to advance, but we’re still a playoff team in two of the past three seasons with wins. And having points to do it this year without the win. So, we see consistency and that’s how you build.

“The rest of this year is getting as high as possible in points, making more history and racing for another win.”

TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY NOTES

Texas Motor Speedway will host the Round of 12 in both the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend with single events on Saturday and Sunday. Ford has won 15 times in Cup with Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards leading the way with three each while Mark Martin’s three NXS triumphs is the most in Ford history.

CURRENT CUP PLAYOFF STANDINGS

The Round of 12 begins on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway with three Ford drivers still in contention for this year’s championship. Here’s where they sit going into the weekend.

5th – Chris Buescher (+10)
10th – Brad Keselowski (-3)
11th – Ryan Blaney (-6)
NOTE: The top 8 drivers will advance after Charlotte

HARVICK DOMINATION

Nobody has had a better playoff run at Texas Motor Speedway than Kevin Harvick, who won three straight postseason races at the 1.5-mile facility from 2017-19. Harvick’s streak started in 2017 when he passed Martin Truex Jr. with 10 laps remaining to register his first Cup victory at the speedway in 30 starts. Domination was the word used to describe his next two victories as he led 177-of-334 laps to win in 2018 and then 119 more in his 2019 triumph. On each occasion, the win propelled Harvick to a spot in the Championship 4.

LAST LAP PASS LEADS TO LOGANO VICTORY

Joey Logano’s first Cup win at TMS came in 2014 in a race that was delayed until Monday because of rain. Logano dominated much of the second half, but a caution with two laps to go forced a green-white-checker finish. He started third on the restart after the leaders stopped on pit road and was able to get past Jeff Gordon on the final lap to claim victory. Logano led 108 of the final 116 laps to claim the first of five wins that season.

A TEXAS TWO-FIRST

A couple of firsts happened on April 6, 1997 as Texas Motor Speedway hosted its inaugural NASCAR Cup Series event and Jeff Burton took his first checkered flag. Burton, led by crew chief Buddy Parrott, passed Todd Bodine with 58 laps remaining and beat fellow Ford driver Dale Jarrett to the finish line by four seconds. The race was slowed by 10 cautions, which included a multi-car accident in first turn of the first lap. Burton went on to win 21 career series races with 17 of those coming in a Thunderbird or Taurus.

CUSTER IN CONTENTION

Cole Custer had a solid playoff opener as he won the pole and led 102 laps in finishing fourth last week at Bristol Motor Speedway. He comes into the Texas race ranked third in the standings, 39 points ahead of the cut line with two races remaining in the Round of 12. Custer, who won at Texas in 2018, currently ranks in a three-way tie for seventh on the all-time NXS Ford win list with 12 career victories, including two this season in Portland and Chicago.
