Rowe Jumps To Top of Barber Practice by Tiny Margin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Friday, March 27, 2026) – Myles Rowe needed this.

INDY NXT by Firestone veteran Rowe led the only practice for the Grand Prix of Alabama doubleheader Friday at Barber Motorsports Park, turning a top lap of 1 minute, 12.0345 seconds in the No. 99 ABEL Motorsports with Force Indy car.

Rowe entered his third season in the INDYCAR development series as a championship favorite after finishing fourth in the standings in 2025, boosted by his first two career INDY NXT victories. But this early season has been a grind, as Rowe finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the first two races of the season and is eighth in the standings.

“Happy with P1, no doubt, especially with a couple of performances we weren’t happy with in Round 1 and Round 2,” Rowe said. “Coming into our first doubleheader weekend, it definitely makes it easier on the team knowing we have pace coming into qualifying in a weekend where we have double points (two races).

“I’m happy with the performance. Very grateful for the team, ABEL Motorsports with Force Indy, and looking forward to the rest of the weekend.”

Rowe kept the top spot by just seven 10-thousandths of a second over JM Correa, who stopped the clocks in second at 1:12.0352 in the No. 68 Cusick Morgan Motorsports entry. Josh Pierson was third at 1:12.1283 in the No. 29 Starchive Andretti car fielded by Andretti Global.

Enzo Fittipaldi, grandson of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi, was fourth – and the quickest rookie – at 1:12.1869 in the No. 67 HMD Motorsports car. Lochie Hughes, the top returning driver to the series this season, rounded out the top five at 1:12.2004 in the No. 26 Andretti Global machine.

Andretti Global drivers took three of the top six spots on the speed chart, as series leader Max Taylor was sixth at 1:12.2265 in the No. 28 Susan G. Komen car.

Qualifying for the doubleheader weekend is up next at 10 a.m. ET Saturday (FS2, FOX One, FOX Sports app, INDYCAR Radio powered by OnlyBulls) on the 17-turn, 2.3-mile road course. Competition should be tight, as just .1920 of a second separated the top six drivers in today’s 45-minute practice.

Justin Allgaier awarded O’Reilly pole at Martinsville

Justin Allgaier has been awarded the pole position for the NFPA 250 at Martinsville Speedway on Friday, March 27.

The event’s starting lineup was initially going to be determined through a single-car, two-lap qualifying format. In the format, all 40 competitors vying for 38 starting spots would cycle around Martinsville Speedway twice while attempting to post the fastest lap. The competitor who posted the fastest single lap would be awarded the pole position.

Friday’s qualifying session was canceled, however, due to rain. As a result, the lineup was determined through a qualifying metric formula from the NASCAR rulebook. The formula evaluated competitors’ results from the most recent O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event and the current owner’s standings. This resulted in Allgaier being awarded the pole position as he is coming off last weekend’s victory at Darlington Raceway. He is also leading the standings in both the driver’s and owner’s categories.

With the pole, Allgaier will bid for his third O’Reilly victory of the 2026 season and his second Martinsville victory after he achieved his first in October 2023. After becoming the eighth competitor to achieve at least 30 victories in the O’Reilly division, Allgaier will also attempt to tie Jack Ingram for sixth place on the all-time O’Reilly wins list.

Allgaier will share the front row with teammate and rookie Rajah Caruth, the latter of whom returns to pilot the No. 88 HendrickCars.com/JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro entry after he spent the previous two weekends driving for Jordan Anderson Racing.

Brandon Jones, rookie Brent Crews and Carson Kvapil will start in the top five, respectively. Sheldon Creed, rookie Corey Day, Jesse Love, Sammy Smith and Parker Retzlaff complete the top-10 starting grid.

Notably, Lee Pulliam, Andrew Patterson and Luke Baldwin will start 12th, 19th and 29th, respectively, while Myatt Snider and Ross Chastain complete the 38-car starting grid in 37th and 38th, respectively. In addition, Taylor Gray and Austin Hill, both of whom won last year’s O’Reilly events at Martinsville, will start 13th and 26th, respectively.

With 40 competitors vying for 38 starting spots, Dawson Cram and Justin Carroll were the two who did not qualify for the main event.

Brad Keselowski Making 600th Career Start at Martinsville

Will Become Just The 35th Driver to Reach Milestone

When the green flag flies at Martinsville Speedway Sunday it will mark a career milestone for Brad Keselowski. He will have accomplished something only done by 34 other drivers, starting his 600th NASCAR Cup Series race.

The run began on November 2, 2008, at Texas Motor Speedway. At the time Keselowski was a heralded prospect, who had scored two wins in what was known as the NASCAR Nationwide Series, now the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (NOAPS). He was a young driver with recognizable talent but one who was just trying to earn a place in the NASCAR’s premier series.

“I just wanted to have a career and was trying to prove myself,” said Keselowski, who will be driving the BuildSubmarines.com Ford Mustang at Martinsville. “To think that I’ve had another 599 since then is pretty cool. I just want to sit down with a 24-year-old me and tell him that was going to happen.

Just what would he tell the younger version of himself? Keselowski says he would like to strategically educate, providing tips on various race tracks, but mostly importantly he’d like to tell that 24 year-old prodigy to just to enjoy the ride. And what a ride it has been, scoring 36 Cup Series victories and the 2012 Championship.

“When I first got in a cup, I just wanted to be here. I didn’t think about anything outside of that,” Keselowski added. “I didn’t think of the stats. I didn’t think about the accolades, I just wanted to be here and I’m lucky to be here.”

Since the first Cup Series race in 1949, nearly three thousand drivers have made at least one Cup Series start. Being only the 35th to do it places Keselowski in rare company. To achieve that though takes stamina, and maturity.

“Honestly, over the years it’s gotten easier for me,” Keselowski said. “Mentally I’ve accepted the challenge. I know what it is. I don’t get nervous. I’m just ready.”

Keselowski began building his reputation in 2004 driving for his father, Bob Keselowski, in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, then expanded into what was the NASCAR Busch Series (now NOAPS) by 2006 with owner Keith Coleman. A breakout 2007 truck performance at Memphis, winning the pole and leading 62 laps for Germain Racing, caught the attention of Dale Earnhardt Jr., leading to a midseason opportunity with JR Motorsports. There, Keselowski won six Nationwide (now NOAPS) races from 2008 to 2009, earning his shot at NASCAR’s top level.

Over the course of his career Keselowski has become one of the most successful and respected competitors of NASCAR’s modern era. The Rochester Hills, MI native is a two-time national series champion (2012 Cup/2010 Nationwide) with 36 NASCAR Cup Series victories, and more than 75 combined NASCAR wins across Cup, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series competition. Now in his 17th full-time Cup season, he ranks among the top active drivers in wins, top 10s, and laps led.

While six hundred is a big number, he says he is far from the finish line.

“I’d like to get to eight hundred,” said Keselowski. “I think that’s a good goal.”

NHRA 4-Wide Nationals Roars Into Charlotte For NHRA’s Thrilling 75th Anniversary Season

CONCORD, N.C. (March 27, 2026) – As NHRA continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary season in 2026, the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series returns to zMAX Dragway for one of the most thrilling spectacles in all of motorsports with the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals on April 24-26.

Dubbed the “Bellagio of Dragstrips,” zMAX Dragway provides the perfect stage for a massive sensory overload of nitro-fueled thrills. Fans will witness four nitro-burning machines racing simultaneously, showcasing nearly 50,000-horsepower at once while reaching speeds of more than 340 mph. This can’t-miss experience is a highlight for racing enthusiasts – and the only four-wide event of the year – delivering thrilling racing and one of the most unique experiences in the sport.

The jam-packed schedule at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals will keep fans busy all weekend, starting with two rounds of qualifying, including a must-see night session with pyrotechnics, on Friday. Alabama Football Legend McCarron To Ride in Fastest Seat in Sports at Barber

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, March 27, 2026) – Birmingham Stallions head coach A.J. McCarron will ride in the Fastest Seat in Sports at the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix powered by AmFirst on Sunday, March 29 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

RAFA Racing Team takes on packed Sonoma weekend

SONOMA, Calif. (Friday, March 27, 2026) – RAFA Racing Team heads into Sonoma Raceway facing one of its most demanding weekends of the season, fielding entries across multiple championships as its expanded 2026 program comes into full effect.

The team will compete across Pirelli GT4 America, Toyota GR Cup North America, and McLaren Trophy America, marking one of the first weekends where its broadened driver ladder and multi-series structure are fully active at a single venue.

Across those three championships alone, RAFA drivers will take part in 20 separate on-track sessions over four days with seven drivers and four cars, ranging from testing and practice to qualifying and races, underscoring the scale of the operation required to execute the weekend.

In GT4 America, RAFA returns with its Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 program, pairing young stars Tyler Gonzalez and Westin Workman in the No. Endava 68 entry, alongside Chris Spada and Werner Neugebauer in Pro-Am. “The biggest thing is coordination. You’re moving cars, spares, engineers, mechanics, and making sure every program has what it needs. There’s no real reset between events, so everything has to be planned weeks in advance and executed almost perfectly.”

The scale of RAFA’s lineup is rooted in a broader focus on long-term driver development across multiple platforms.

“At the end of the day, it’s about creating an environment where drivers can improve,” Conway said. “That means giving them the tools, the experience, and the opportunities across different series. If they stay focused on the process and keep building their skill set, the performance will follow.”

With multiple championships running concurrently at Sonoma, the weekend represents both a logistical test and a clear signal of RAFA Racing Team’s expanding footprint across North American motorsports.

RAFA Racing Team’s Sonoma schedule begins Thursday with McLaren Trophy America testing at 9:00 AM, followed by Pirelli GT4 America testing at 10:15 AM and Toyota GR Cup North America testing at 12:00 PM. GT4 America continues with Practice 1 at 2:30 PM and Practice 2 at 5:15 PM, with McLaren Trophy America Practice 1 scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Friday features GR Cup Practice 1 at 8:15 AM, GT4 America qualifying at 10:45 AM, McLaren Trophy America Practice 2 at 11:10 AM, and GT4 America Race 1 at 2:00 PM. GR Cup returns to the track later in the day for Practice 2 at 3:15 PM.

On Saturday, McLaren Trophy America qualifying sessions are set for 8:20 AM and 8:40 AM, followed by GR Cup Qualifying 1 at 10:30 AM. GT4 America Race 2 goes green at 1:00 PM, with McLaren Trophy America Race 1 at 3:05 PM and GR Cup Race 1 at 4:15 PM.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with GR Cup Qualifying 2 at 8:15 AM, McLaren Trophy America Race 2 at 9:50 AM, and GR Cup Race 2 at 12:00 PM.

Sweet Home Alabama: IndyCar returns to the Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday

IndyCar fans, it’s that time of the year again to head down South and enjoy the blooming magnolias and hopefully some sunshine in Alabama this weekend. After a two-week hiatus, IndyCar roars into Birmingham for the annual Children’s of Alabama Grand Prix at the Barber Motorsports Park. The season’s momentum hasn’t begun to hit a high note at this point, and with three different winners in three races so far in 2026, race predictions for this Sunday are wide open at this point. Can Alex Palou pull off a second consecutive win after his 2025 victory in Alabama? How many other drivers will make their move to stamp success onto their racing resumes this weekend?

Three races and three different winners in 2026 so far.

With the 2026 IndyCar season in its early stages, a recurring theme has developed among drivers and teams that this season is wide open to all takers. With the 2025 IndyCar season winner and Chip Ganassi stalwart Alex Palou taking the checkered flag at St. Petersburg, fans and pundits alike believed that Palou would just extend his winning streak into this year as well. However, a little thing called an oval track in Phoenix, AZ, dispelled that myth as Team Penske’s stalwart Josef Newgarden showed off his NASCAR-like skills by making a lot of left turns to a big win in the desert. Capping off the early IndyCar season was the inaugural Grand Prix of Arlington around the venerable AT&T Stadium, and Andretti’s Kyle Kirkwood nailed down the initial race win with his number 27 Honda. With multiple winners already sitting atop race podiums in 2026, any real predictions for this week’s race seem almost foolhardy.

Is this the week Will Power breaks through and grabs the top of the podium at Barber?

For IndyCar fans used to the iconic Will Power being a dominant force on any racetrack, 2026 has been a bit of a letdown so far. After moving teams from Penske to Andretti, Power hasn’t seemed to be much of a race factor, with a 22nd-place finish in St. Petersburg and a 16th-place spot in Phoenix. However, only foolish or ignorant fans write off a great veteran driver like Power, and with a third-place finish in Arlington and a spot on the podium, the road course at Barber looks to potentially be a season-defining move for the number 26 Honda this Sunday. In reality, Power already has two wins in his career on this course, and a third victory would be a turnaround moment for this season and validate his team move from Penske to Andretti this season.

Fox Sports is making strides with its IndyCar partnership.

Fox Sports is changing up its sports promotion package with a heavy roll of the dice with IndyCar this season. While Fox has been a regular broadcaster of NASCAR, going all the way back to 2001, the network’s recent dive into open-wheeled racing and IndyCar in particular is already paying big dividends this season. The inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington showed a 142 percent viewship increase from the similar time frame race last season (Long Beach), with an overall increase in all three race broadcasts this season.

In fact, there are, of course, rumors swirling around American racing fanbases that FOX is now betting the farm on IndyCar and decreasing its support of its NASCAR broadcasts by moving many races over to FS1, while IndyCar still remains the darling of the main Fox channel. While these are still unsubstantiated rumors at best, many NASCAR fans are starting grumble at the prospect of having to share their network with open-wheeled races (it should be noted of course that NASCAR will be broadcasted on multiple platforms, including NBC, FOX, Prime Video, and TNT this season.)

IndyCar will have a busy weekend down in Birmingham.

Fox Sports will be covering the NTT INDYCAR Series this weekend with the Children’s of Alabama Grand Prix, with first practice on Friday at 3:30 ET and the broadcast on FS2. Fox moves over to Saturday’s broadcast with a morning practice at 11:00 ET on FS1 and qualifying at 2:30pm on FS1, as well. The actual race is scheduled for 1 pm ET this Sunday, March 29th, with the NASCAR Cup race scheduled later this Sunday on FS1.

ARCA East Champion Isaac Kitzmiller Opens Title Defense at Hickory Motor Speedway

NEWTON, N.C.: The 2026 ARCA Menards Series East season officially roars to life this weekend at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, and for reigning series champion Isaac Kitzmiller, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Not only does Kitzmiller enter the new campaign with the target of defending his championship, but he also faces a pivotal year to elevate his profile and prove he belongs among the sport’s rising stars.

When the teenage sensation burst onto the development tour in 2025, expectations were modest. But through steady consistency and continuous improvement, Kitzmiller turned heads all season long.

By the time the series finale concluded at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway last September, Kitzmiller had done far more than deliver another strong finish — he left the World’s Fastest Half-Mile as the ARCA Menards Series East champion, an impressive accomplishment against a deep and competitive series class.

Returning to the seat of his A.L.L. Construction Racing – CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet, Isaac Kitzmiller eyes the highly anticipated Cook Out 200 as more than just the start of his title defense.

Instead, the season opener presents an opportunity to begin another championship run while also chasing a milestone — his first ARCA-sanctioned victory.

“Coming into this season, there’s definitely a different level of confidence after what we were able to accomplish last year,” said Kitzmiller.

“But at the same time, we know we have to keep working just as hard, if not harder. Hickory is a special place to start the year, and for us, it’s about putting ourselves in position early, staying consistent, and hopefully contending for that first win. That’s a big goal for our team.”

Much like his inaugural ARCA Menards Series East campaign a year ago, Kitzmiller continues to be surrounded by experience, knowledge, and championship-caliber guidance.

His father, Jason Kitzmiller, the current ARCA Menards Series championship contender, will be on the hallowed grounds of Hickory Motor Speedway this weekend in support of his teenage son. Additionally, NASCAR Hall of Famer Ron Hornaday Jr. continues to take a keen interest in Kitzmiller’s rising trajectory.

That support system is further strengthened by 10-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel’s guidance, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and respected short-track competitors in ARCA history.

“I’m really fortunate to have people like my dad, Ron, and Frank in my corner,” added Kitzmiller.

“They’ve all been through this at a high level, and just being able to learn from their experiences has meant a lot to me. I’m still learning every time I get in the car, but having that kind of support gives me a lot of confidence heading into this season.”

The first stop in an eight-race campaign at the legendary half-mile short track brings plenty of anticipation — and a fair share of unknowns — not just for Isaac Kitzmiller, but for the ARCA Menards Series East field as a whole.

With a scheduled two-and-a-half-hour test session on Friday, March 27, the Maysville, Va. native is focused on establishing a strong baseline that will position his No. 79 A.L.L. Construction Racing – CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet for success. That early track time will be critical for teams across the garage ahead of a condensed practice session on race day at Hickory Motor Speedway, before tackling 200 laps in western North Carolina.

“With it being the first race of the year, there are definitely a lot of unknowns for everyone,” said Isaac Kitzmiller. “You don’t really know where you stack up until you get on track, so that test session is going to be really important for us to find a good balance in the car.

“I think it’s the same for everybody in the field — everyone’s worked hard in the offseason, but now it’s about putting it all together. For our team, the goal is to unload with speed, keep improving throughout the weekend, and put ourselves in a position to be there at the end.”

As for his goals for Saturday evening’s Cook Out 200, the objective is straightforward for Isaac Kitzmiller — put himself in contention when it matters most.

“At the end of the day, you want to give yourself a shot,” explained Kitzmiller.

“If we can keep ourselves up front, stay out of trouble, and be in contention in the closing laps, that’s all you can ask for. From there, it’s about executing and taking advantage of the opportunity when it comes.”

Like his father, the younger Kitzmiller will also adorn the colors of A.L.L. Construction and Carter Machinery in his ninth career ARCA Menards Series East start.

The Cook Out 200 (200 laps | 72.6 miles) marks the eighth of eight races on the 2026 ARCA Menards Series East schedule. On Saturday, March 28, teams will hit the track for a forty-five-minute practice session from 2:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single-car qualifying will follow at 4:00 p.m., with the green flag expected to wave shortly after 7:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on FloRacing and the NASCAR Channel, while ARCARacing.com will provide live timing and scoring throughout the day’s activities.
