Payton Freeman, Team 22 Inc. commit to World of Outlaws for 2023 season

Payton Freeman and Team 22 Inc. will race with the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series during the 2023 season.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 8, 2022) – Payton Freeman and Team 22 Inc. are hitting the road with the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series in 2023.

Freeman and team owner G.R. Smith are set to meet with World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series Director of Competition Steve Francis Thursday morning during the opening day of the PRI Trade Show to sign their commitment contract for 2023.

The 20-year-old Freeman will pilot the Team 22 Inc. No. 22 Late Model for the entire 2023 campaign as he pursues the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series Rookie of the Year Award.

“This has been my goal for a long time, to eventually hit the road with one of the national tours,” Freeman said. “It’s an incredible honor to officially be an Outlaw in 2023. It’s been a long road to get here, but I believe I’m ready for the challenge ahead of me.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of G.R. and Stacey Smith, MPM Marketing, Coltman Farms Racing, Victory Circle Auto Sales, my family, my crew and especially my fans. We want to win the Rookie of the Year Award and we want to win some races. We think we can do both. Now we just need to go out and do it.”

Freeman, a native of Commerce, Georgia, is one of Dirt Late Model racing’s fastest rising stars. In 2021 he rose to prominence by capturing the Southern All Stars Racing championship in his rookie season with the tour, which also doubled as his first full year of Super Late Model racing.

This season he expanded his racing schedule to include the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, better known as the Hell Tour. Despite going winless in 25 events with the tour, he finished second in the series standings with six top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.

In addition to his busy summer racing with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Freeman earned three victories during the 2022 season. His first came at Georgia’s Boyd’s Speedway on April 30, followed by a triumph on September 22 at North Carolina’s Tri-County Race Track.

Freeman’s third and final victory of the season came recently at Alabama’s Deep South Speedway, where he won the Hunt the Front Southern Showcase on November 19.

The event paid a whopping $22,000, the biggest payday of Freeman’s young career and was his first triumph with Team 22 Inc., a great sign of things to come during the pairings 2023 World of Outlaws campaign.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Payton is one of the best young Dirt Late Model racers in the country,” said Smith. “We knew when we signed Payton we wanted to take him on the road and the World of Outlaws are the marquee touring Dirt Late Model series in the United States.

“I mean who doesn’t want to be an Outlaw? They’re the baddest drivers in the country racing the baddest race cars in the country. In my mind there is no better series for our team to race with than the World of Outlaws.”

Francis, himself a veteran Dirt Late Model racer with countless marquee victories during his career, is expecting big things from the pairing of Freeman and Smith in 2023.

“Payton and the G.R. Smith-owned team have already proven they are a force to be reckoned with,” Francis said. “A major win in their first few races together has set the stage for a huge 2023 with more wins on the horizon. Everyone with the World of Outlaws is excited to have them contending for rookie of the year and a national championship.”

The 53-race 2023 World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series season begins January 18-21 with the annual running of the Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.

Along with his parents, crew and fans, Payton Freeman would like to thank all of the partners that support him and Team 22 Inc. in MPM Marketing, Coltman Farms Racing, Longhorn Chassis, SRI Performance, Swift Springs, Bilstein Shocks, Keyser Manufacturing, Behrent’s Performance Warehouse, Collins Signs, Austin Kirkpatrick, Winning Edge Carburetion, Accu-Force Dynos & Testers, Gambler Transport, Victory Auto Sales, K1 RaceGear, VP Racing Fuels, Winter’s Performance Products, Arizona Sport Shirts, FK Rod Ends, KRC Power Steering and The Joie of Seating.

How to Boost Your Match Prediction Stats

Another option to take pleasure in significant events is placing bets on games and your preferred team. League gambling excitement comes from winning and losing alongside your teams. Your experience becomes more immersive. Your ability to make predictions is one of the most critical aspects of wagering on sporting events.

To create accurate forecasts, you must have in-depth knowledge of the game you are watching. Some people may make predictions based on instinct, while others place wagers based on their feelings and enthusiasm for a game.

You must hone your senses if you want to win bets more frequently. Here are a few factors that can improve the likelihood that your forecast will come true.

Watch Every Team

One of the biggest mistakes fans make when making predictions is to ignore the improvement of other teams and focus solely on their preferred clubs. Even if you believe a team to be weak, you should still watch their games to identify weaknesses. Every team experiences both successful and unsuccessful circumstances. Some groups do better than others in specific situations.

Watching every game will make you familiar with the conditions and ground pressure. Watching games in person rather than catching up on highlights or scorecards is preferable. Write down in your head any details that strike you and consider any adjustments you might make. You can tell you have a thorough comprehension of a game if you can critique it.

Read the small print on scorecards.

Many fans typically don’t understand complex scorecards. Any bettor must not miss these scorecards because they include game information. You can educate yourself about the teams and individual players involved in the game to make sure you are well-prepared. You must learn as much as you can about the teams and players.

Read the game’s rules to find out more information. If you are more knowledgeable about the game, you may wager on the team’s performance at the midway point. By looking at the game scorecards, you can also see what will happen under different conditions. Keep the event scorecard close by at all times. Additionally, see if there have been any updates or additions. Having a bird’s-eye view of the competition is always beneficial in determining which team deserves your wager.

Play sports commentary.

Many sports channels launch broadcasts regarding the competition during the game season. These programs invite experts and sports writers to talk about the game and its participants. These programs typically ask the experts to anticipate or hazard a guess regarding the match. Professionals also discuss their observations of the game and the reasons behind their predictions.

You’ll be able to think like a game expert or former player. You could gain knowledge about team dynamics and potential outcomes. Learn from those who have devoted their entire lives to these games.

Play online casino games

Generally speaking, betting is betting. Playing Online pokies for real money will help you refine your betting intuition. Knowledge can boost your chances of winning, but luck determines the outcome. Play the games at an online casino to test your luck. To try your luck anywhere, anytime, start checking Overview of the best payout online casinos games.

Observe specialists on social media

Many specialists refrain from participating in internet or televised discussions. You can follow an expert on social media if you are familiar with them and value their opinion. Ensure the subject matter expert posts comments on sports on their social media account. You can make an educated assumption based on a tested expert’s opinion.

Example: T20 World Cup 2022, Match 38: Australia defeats Afghanistan by a slim margin of four runs after surviving Rashid Khan’s blitz.

On November 4, in game 38 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval, Australia defeated Afghanistan by four runs despite a brilliant effort by Rashid Khan (48 not out off 23 balls). The Australians’ chances of qualifying for the semi-finals were maintained with the victory. Australia will finish in the top two and advance from Group 1 with New Zealand, who have already qualified if Sri Lanka defeats England on Saturday.

Afghanistan, chasing 169, struggled after a strong start and appeared to be out of options at 103 for 6. Rashid, however, hammered three fours and four sixes to invigorate the match. Afghanistan ultimately missed out on glory by only one significant hit.

Australia scored a mediocre total of 168 for 8 in its first innings of batting after losing the toss. Since Aaron Finch was unable to play, Matthew Wade served as the Australian team’s captain. They also changed a few additional things. Cameron Green, one of their choices, felt cheaply priced at 3. David Warner had a solid appearance but was dismissed for 25 runs off 18 balls while trying a switch shot off Naveen-ul-Haq. The same bowler also claimed Steven Smith (4), and Australia dropped three runs during the powerplay.

Jimmy Villeneuve to Lead No. 4 Team in 2023

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 7, 2022) – Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) announced today that Jimmy Villeneuve has been named the crew chief for Chase Purdy and the No. 4 Chevrolet team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2023.

Villeneuve has served as a truck chief at KBM since 2017, where he has been a part of 18 wins, a driver’s championship with Christopher Bell in 2017 and the 2019 owner’s championship with the No. 51 team. Prior to joining KBM the New Hampshire native served as a truck chief at Athenian Motorsports in 2015 when the team won with John Wes Townley and was promoted to crew chief five races into the 2016 season.

“I’m honored that Kyle has chosen to elevate me to the crew chief position and I’m going to do everything that I can to prove that it was the right decision,” Villeneuve said. “We’ve got a close-knit group of guys on the 4 team that are working hard to make sure that we come out of the gates strong to start the 2023 season. Chase has been at the shop pretty much every day, so we’re already getting acclimated to him as a person and making things comfortable for him inside the truck so that when the season starts we can unload with fast Silverados each week.”

“Jimmy has been an instrumental part of the success we have had at KBM in recent years winning a lot of races and a couple of championships as a truck chief, so we feel like he’s well deserving of the opportunity to be promoted to crew chief,” Busch said. “He’s learned the KBM way under Eric (Phillips) and Rudy (Fugle) and being able to promote someone from within the organization to lead Chase (Purdy) and the No. 4 team will allow them to come out of the gates strong to start the 2023 season. It also shows the quality of people we have working at KBM throughout the building in every position and that hard work and dedication within our company will be rewarded.”

About Kyle Busch Motorsports:

Since debuting in 2010, Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) has quickly established itself as one of the most successful teams in all of NASCAR. In addition to collecting a series-record seven Owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).

KBM prepares a fleet of race-winning vehicles out of its state-of-the art 77,000-square-foot facility in Mooresville, N.C. Dayco Signs as an Official Partner of Tony Stewart Racing in NHRA

Dayco Racing Belts to be Used by Drivers Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 7, 2022) – Dayco, a leading engine products and drive systems supplier in the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries, is proud to announce a collaboration with Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series for the 2023 season that includes supplying three-time Funny Car champion Matt Hagan and 10-time Top Fuel event winner Leah Pruett with its 11mm blower belt, along with technical support.

TSR just completed its inaugural NHRA season, earning five victories in 2022 – four in Funny Car with Hagan and one in Top Fuel with Pruett. The team also placed both drivers in the Countdown to the Championship, with Pruett securing her sixth Countdown appearance while Hagan earned his spot in the NHRA postseason for the 11th time.

These two racers push their machines to the limit, driving speeds in excess of 330 mph down the track, and now will officially be putting the Dayco blower belt to the ultimate test as the team sets its sights on the 2023 season.

“You’ve got to have the best parts and pieces to put 11,000 horsepower to the pavement, and that’s why we’ve partnered with Dayco,” said Stewart, owner, TSR. “The amount of load we put on a blower belt is huge. They need to be tough, strong and durable. Dayco belts check all of those boxes, and the technical support they provide to our race team is incredible. When winning is measured in thousandths of a second, this is the kind of partnership you want to have.”

The Dayco 11mm blower belt is race-engineered with a hybrid carbon cord encapsulated in custom rubber compounds and patented low friction PTFE tooth fabric. Built to withstand some of the highest dynamic loads in racing, this standard 11mm pitch, 84mm wide and 145 teeth belt was developed using real-world track data, specifically for supercharged nitromethane engines.

“We’re really excited about this partnership. Tony, Matt and Leah have been fantastic to work with, both on and off the track,” said Jay Buckley, Director of Product Management, Dayco North America. “And we’re glad our belt gets their official stamp of approval as we’re constantly working to make enhancements as we receive team feedback so we know we have a winning formula.”

The two teams will kick off their partnership with a special guest appearance at the PRI Show in Indy this week, with Pruett signing hero cards at Dayco booth #7154 on Thursday from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. EST.

Sammy Smith secures full-time Xfinity ride with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2023

Photo by John Knittel for SpeedwayMedia.com.

Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Sammy Smith will be joining the NASCAR Xfinity Series competition on a full-time basis and behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota Supra for the 2023 season.

The 18-year-old Smith from Johnston, Iowa, is coming off a competitive 2022 campaign, where he made his first nine career starts in the Xfinity circuit, beginning at Road America in July and capping off the season at Phoenix Raceway in November. Throughout his part-time Xfinity schedule, he earned three top-10 results and recorded a career-best third-place run at Watkins Glen International in August while contributing to JGR’s No. 18 team finishing in seventh place in the 2022 Xfinity owner’s standings.

For his first full-time Xfinity season and bid for the series championship, Smith will be receiving a bevy of sponsorship support for the upcoming season that will include Pilot Flying J, TMC Transportation, Allstate Peterbilt, Renda Group, Sinclair Tractor and Mobil 1. Veteran Jeff Meendering, who served as Brandon Jones’ crew chief during the previous four seasons, will be remaining at JGR for a fifth full-time season to serve as Smith’s crew chief.

“This is an opportunity I have been working towards,” Smith said. “I can’t wait to get behind the wheel full-time and am looking forward to a great season. I learned a lot in 2022 that will really help me to be competitive and run up front in the Xfinity Series. Thank you to Pilot Flying J, TMC Transportation, Allstate Peterbilt Group, and Toyota Racing Development for supporting me in my racing career. I am excited for next year and appreciate the opportunity.”

In addition to his part-time Xfinity schedule in 2022, Smith competed on a full-time basis in the ARCA Menards Series East and part-time in the ARCA Menards Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He captured the ARCA East title after winning all but two of the series’ seven-race schedule, which marked his second consecutive title in the series after winning his first a year prior with Joe Gibbs Racing. In the ARCA side, he captured six victories and 15 top-five results in 16 starts, which was enough for him to deliver the owner’s title for KBM.

“Sammy is a fantastic addition to our 2023 Xfinity lineup. He proved to have the passion and the talent to necessary to compete for wins in the races he ran for us in 2022,” Steve DeSouza, Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Driver Development, added. “We are excited to get him in the No. 18 full time and know he will be competitive from the jump.”

The remainder of Joe Gibbs Racing’s and Toyota’s Xfinity Series lineup is set to be announced this Thursday, December 8, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With his plans for the upcoming season set, Smith’s first full-time campaign in the Xfinity Series is set to commence at Daytona International Speedway on February 18. The event’s coverage is slated to occur at 5 p.m. ET on FS1.

GMS Racing Announces NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Crew Chief Lineup for the 2023 Season

Statesville, NC (Dec. 6th, 2022) – With the team’s driver lineup now complete, GMS Racing is proud to announce the three Crew Chiefs signed on for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Experience is a strong point for all three of the leaders, with a mixture of familiar names and fresh faces heading the organization’s three full-time entries.

No. 23 – Jeff Hensley

No surprises here, veteran Jeff Hensley will return to the top of the box and work with Grant Enfinger for their sixth season together. Hensley made news headlines in July when it was announced that he would be returning with Grant Enfinger for the remainder of the 2022 season, and once the change was made, results began to show. In nine races that season, Hensley was able to guide Enfinger to four top-fives and five top-10 finishes, including a thrilling victory at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. It’s hard to beat the chemistry that he and Enfinger have built up over the years, which makes sense why the duo will continue their relationship leading into 2023.

Hensley’s career spans decades, spending the majority of his time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He was the championship winning Crew Chief for Chuck Bown in the 1990 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and overall has won 11 NXS races during his tenure from 1987 to 2001 – 10 with Bown and one with Larry Pollard. Transitioning over to the Truck Series in 2004, Hensley has amassed 19 career wins with drivers of the likes of Mike Skinner, Ron Hornaday, Johnny Sauter, Timothy Peters, and Brian Scott. With Grant as his driver, the pairing has won six NCTS races since 2018.

“I am so grateful to be able to continue to work with Grant Enfinger and have another full year with him as our driver. We were fairly successful when I joined back up with him midway through this year, and we still have a lot of work to do, but I think we found our direction over the latter half of the season. If we can start off like that and continue to learn and get better every week, I think by the middle of the 2023 season we have the opportunity to win ourselves a number of races. We want to put ourselves in the position to contend when it matters most, so gathering as many playoffs points as possible is going to be the top of our focus so we aren’t in as big of a hole as where we were this year. GMS Racing has given us everything we need to compete, so I am thankful and excited to contend next year.” said Hensley.

No. 24 – Chad Walter

A familiar face returns to GMS Racing for the 2023 season, as Chad Walter joins to call the shots for Rajah Caruth after spending a year away from the team. Walter was a mainstay at GMS Racing for the 2020 and 2021 NCTS seasons, working primarily with Tyler Ankrum and Jack Wood in the respective years. With a motorsports career dating back to the early 1990’s, Walter brings a wealth of knowledge to the fold as he pairs up with the newest member of the team’s driver lineup. On his resume, Walter has worked previously with many powerhouse teams, including Hendrick Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Team Penske, Michael Waltrip Racing, and Richard Childress Racing – just to name a few.

As a NASCAR Xfinity Series Crew Chief, Walter won five races working with Kyle Busch, Mark Martin, Justin Allgaier, Ron Fellows, and Sam Hornish, Jr. In his two seasons competing in the Truck Series, Walter called the shots for 14 top-10 finishes – nearly a third of every start he made. The native of Albion, New York has also made several starts as a NASCAR Cup Series Crew Chief as well. This experience will prove to be a valuable asset for Caruth, as he looks to compete in his first full-season campaign.

“First and foremost, I am very excited to be back with everybody at GMS Racing. My two seasons that we had together here were a lot of fun, and I enjoyed learning a lot about the Truck Series. Even more exciting for me, however, is having the opportunity to work with a bright young talent like Rajah. In the short time that I have come to know and learn about him, he has thoroughly impressed me. The kid takes a ton of notes and pays attention to detail in everything he does, and that’s the mentality that a rookie needs heading into the series. He has shown a ton of potential in the ARCA Series as well as his starts in Trucks and Xfinity, so to be able to guide him throughout an entire year is really going to be a fun experience. We have realistic goals set on next year, but make no mistake about it, we want to show ourselves as true contenders. I’m looking forward to what we have in store in 2023.” said Walter.

No. 43 – Travis Sharpe

Relationships are key in the racing industry, and a successful run with Daniel Dye is exactly what brought Travis Sharpe to the leadership of GMS Racing. Sharpe not only has served as Dye’s Crew Chief in Super Late Model competition, but he has also fielded some of Dye’s efforts as a car owner as well, building Dye’s chassis out of the Racing Dynamics shop, which he owns. In a one race deal between GMS and Bill McAnally Racing to compete in the ARCA Menards Series West at Portland Raceway, the duo were able to win the pole position and contend for the win. It is the team of Bill McAnally Racing that Sharpe has most recently spent his time with, accomplishing back-to-back ARCA Menards Series West championships in 2020 and 2021 with Jesse Love.

The native of Marion, Montana has a long history in the sport, winning over 30 NCTS races as a Truck Chief. Ironically enough, Sharpe actually began his career working alongside Jeff Hensley at Hensley Racing in 1995. A true short track racer at heart, Sharpe has won over 250 races in the Late Model and Super Late Model ranks as a Crew Chief, and 57 as a former driver himself. Returning to the No. 43 has special meaning for Travis, who served as a mechanic for Petty Enterprises in the early 2000’s. He looks to bring the iconic number back to victory lane as he leads Dye in his rookie season.

“I am really optimistic to make the transition over to GMS Racing next year and continue to work with Daniel as he makes his first full-time season in the Truck Series. I believe that we have a good chance to make some good things happen right out of the gate that people may not expect, because in all of my time working with him, I can tell that he wants this more than anyone out there. I wouldn’t make the move over to this organization if I didn’t think we could compete at a high level, and I really believe in Daniel, so having the opportunity to lead him and the No. 43 team is one that I genuinely look forward to. We know what this equipment is capable of, and I believe we will have ourselves a great year in 2023.” said Sharpe.

Rajah Caruth Joins GMS Racing For Full-Time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Campaign in 2023

CONCORD, NC (Dec. 6th, 2022) – Today, at the Chevrolet Performance Center, GMS Racing announced its newest driver to the fold, as standout talent Rajah Caruth officially joins the team to drive the No. 24 Chevrolet in the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

Coming off a busy year on track, Caruth put his focus primarily on the ARCA Menards Series, where he raced for the championship. In his first full-time season of ARCA competition, Caruth was able to collect eight top-fives, 14 top-10’s, and would finish third in the points standings, right behind fellow GMS Racing teammate, Daniel Dye.

In addition to his full year of ARCA racing, Caruth would also showcase his abilities by making select starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Truck Series, gaining some valuable experience at several tracks that he will be returning to in this upcoming season. Rajah’s best finishes in the two national series were a 12th place result at Martinsville and an 11th place result at World Wide Technology Raceway, respectively.

“I am extremely honored, and really excited to join GMS Racing and be in the fold of a professional race team with so much history. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this throughout my whole career, and I’m going to do the best in my power to make the most of it. First and foremost, I can’t thank everybody at GMS enough for believing in me and believing that I have what it takes to drive one of their trucks. Same goes for everybody at Chevrolet for their support, we truly wouldn’t be able to make this happen without them. Specifically, I wanted to thank the Steward and Scott families as well, for their belief in my family and I, not just academically, but they have played a huge role in my career as well. Lastly, I have to thank my family – my mom, my dad, and my little sister; I have the greatest support system there is, and they all help me so much. Next year is going to be a pivotal point in not just my career, but my life as a whole, and I can’t wait to show everyone what we’re capable of.” exclaimed Rajah.

Growing up in Washington, D.C., Rajah found a passion in racing at a young age. Starting with sim racing on the iRacing platform, many began to take note of his talents, including the NASCAR Drive For Diversity program, which invited him to compete in their annual combine at just 16 years old. Caruth impressed in many aspects during his audition, and was selected to drive for Rev Racing for starts in US Legends Cars, Late Models, ARCA Menards Series East, and most recently the ARCA Menards Series national tour. Caruth joins an extensive list of alumni from the NASCAR Drive For Diversity program, including top NASCAR Cup Series prospects such as Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, and Daniel Suarez.

GMS Racing Team President, Mike Beam, sings high praises for the 20-year-old, stating “We are truly excited to welcome Rajah to our team next year. I’ve studied up on him ever since I saw him racing in ARCA, but I know that he’s been on the radar for many people in the industry for quite some time now. It was fun to watch him and Daniel fight for the championship last year, and I think having both of them make the jump up to the Truck Series will be a benefit, because they will both be able to learn together. Rajah’s a sharp kid; I’ve seen his work ethic and attention to detail he brings to the racetrack, and I can tell that he’s hungry. He just started driving a few years ago, so to see how far he’s been able to grow in such a short amount of time has been pretty remarkable. He’s built himself a good name in the garage area and is someone that people like to be around, so he’ll be able to soak up some mentorship lessons from experienced drivers, which should go a long way. I’m excited for him.”

Serving as Caruth’s primary partner for the 2023 campaign will be the Wendell Scott Foundation, which was inspired by NASCAR Hall Of Fame inductee, Wendell Scott, Sr. The Foundation aims to provide resources and services to underprivileged African-American youth communities near Scott’s hometown of Danville, Virginia. Since its formation in 2011, over 25 students have been awarded more than $50,000 from the Wendell Scott Legacy Scholarship programs. This partnership is one of great personal meaning to Rajah, who was the recipient of the Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award in 2021 for being an outstanding diverse ambassador for the sport; highlighting his performance, sportsmanship, and community service efforts.

As one of the rising stars in the Chevrolet camp, Rajah has also been named as the newest addition to Drivers Edge Development, which was formed by GMS Racing and JR Motorsports in 2019. The Drivers Edge Development program aims at bolstering young talent’s careers by providing competition & marketing resources from the winningest OEM in NASCAR history.

“We are excited for Rajah to compete full-time with GMS Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2023,” said Dayne Pierantoni, GM Racing Program Manager for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. “Through Chevrolet’s partnership with Rev Racing, we have been impressed with Rajah’s talent both on and off the track. He has proven his ability to compete at the NASCAR national level and we look forward to seeing his continued success with a series championship winning team.”

This announcement thus solidifies GMS Racing’s full-time lineup for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Rajah Caruth will join Grant Enfinger and Daniel Dye in a trio of teammates as they collectively work to add to the team’s storied legacy. Further announcements, including additional partners and key personnel on Caruth’s No. 24 team, will be released in the near future.

New Season Brings Major Boost for Showtime Motorsports in Trans Am

Franklin, TENNESSEE – December 6, 2022 – Ken Thwaits reflected on a fine season for Showtime Motorsports and Franklin Road Apparel in 2022 when we spoke to him at his Tennessee headquarters last week. The former XGT Champion went on to make an unexpected announcement that further boosts his team as they continue to establish the Franklin Road fleet among the preeminent outfits in the Trans Am Series.

“We have a new Mike Cope car coming for TA2 for 2023. We’ll have three very capable cars for next year and a seat is available.” The Mike Cope platform is very successful in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli TA2 Class. A seat with one of the rising stars among teams represents an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious driver and Ken said he would welcome approaches from qualified candidates.

Already signed up for 2023 is Dylan Archer who is behind the wheel of the FPEC sponsored car while negotiations remain ongoing for the available seats with Showtime and the team’s highly professional garage stable.

Former TA2 Champion Cameron Lawrence, who finished in P9 overall in the 2022 Drivers Championship has departed the Showtime Motorsports team – meaning there is also an opening in the No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro.

Over in the TA Class Ken made another bombshell announcement when he said that 2023 would probably be his last year driving competitively in the famous muscle car series. The former XGT Champion scored four podium finishes in 2022 but was narrowly denied a place in the top three Driver Championship despite outrunning his opponents on several occasions.

Reflecting on the year he said, “You know as far as 2022 goes I’m happy about how we performed. We’re the only team running a TA2 side of the garage and a TA side and that’s a big bite to take. We accomplished a lot. We didn’t win a race or lead a lap in TA2 but we won a couple of races in TA which was fantastic. We’ve made great progress in TA2 and had lots of expertise join the team so that bodes well for the future. As for the TA side, I’m happy with my performance in the car. The tire package really worked for me, and it improved the performance of the car.”

Ken will race again in TA again the No. 7 car in 2023 while Justin Marks will be bidding to give the team its first TA Class Drivers Championship.

“We’re going to give Justin our full support. Justin will be in the No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro TA1. Keith Grant will be racing a limited number of races in the No. 5 car which we will be preparing. Plus, there’s a seat in another car available for the right person. We will have three if not four cars that could be on the grid.”

Of his experience last year Ken added, “The camaraderie of the paddock, especially the TA side, has been great. As far as reliability of components are concerned, we’re going to be communicating about parts. You don’t want to beat somebody because their cars keep failing. The teams work very well to support each other with continued developmental safety and performance.”

He went on, “I had run-ins with several people but you shake hands afterwards and it’s over. It’s not like NASCAR where you owe people! You still try to race everybody fairly.”

The Franklin Road name will be visible on several cars next year and it’s not long now before Ken and the rest of the Showtime Motorsports team begin gearing up for the season opener at Sebring from February 23 to 26. It promises to be another exhilarating season and you can be sure that Showtime Motorsports and Franklin Road Apparel will be at the head of pack.

About Showtime Motorsports:
The Showtime Motorsports team is based in Franklin Tennessee and is the power behind the Franklin Road Apparel brand. Showtime is responsible for preparing the cars for the track and keeping Ken Thwaits’ outstanding classic Camaro collection in tip top condition.
