JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK
NO. 42 PYE-BARKER FIRE & SAFETY TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
JHN AT RICHMOND: John Hunter Nemechek has three starts at Richmond Raceway in the NASCAR Cup Series, with his highest finish being 25th in March 2024. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he has made six starts at the track, earning three top-three finishes and a best finish of second earned in his last two races at the rack in April 2022 and April 2023. Nemechek also has two starts at Richmond in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series where he won in April 2021 and finished second in August 2022. He has led a total of 115 of the 500 total laps he’s run at Richmond in the series.

WINNER AT RICHMOND: Nemechek knows how to find victory lane at the short track of Richmond. In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, he never finished worse than second at the .75-mile oval. In his first start at the track in April 2021, Nemechek started 18th after the lineup was set per the NASCAR rulebook. Nemechek first took the lead from Kyle Busch on Lap 100 and did so an additional two times to lead a total of 114 of 250 laps in the race. He passed Chandler Smith for the lead one final time on Lap 234 to capture the checkered flag by .307 of a second ahead of his team owner Kyle Busch.

T-MACK RICHMOND STATS: Saturday’s race under the lights will be crew chief Travis Mack’s 11th NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond. His first outing came in September 2017 with Dale Earnhardt Jr. who finished 13th, Mack’s best finish at the track. He returned the following year in April 2018 with Kasey Kahne. After a short gap, Mack was back at Richmond in April 2021 with Daniel Suárez, where the duo competed for six total races between 2021 and 2023, with their highest finish being 16th, earned twice in April 2021 and April 2022. In the NASCAR Xfinity series, Mack has five starts at Richmond with Michael Annett, where they duo never finished worse than 14th and earned a best finish of seventh in the September 2020 doubleheader.

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK QUOTE:
“I look forward to going to Richmond. I feel like we’ve made gains in our short track program based off Iowa and the results and speed we had there. I’ve had a lot of success at Richmond in the Truck Series and Xfinity Series. I should’ve won multiple races in the Xfinity Series there, but it has always been a good racetrack for me. I’m looking forward to this weekend.”

TRAVIS MACK QUOTE:
“We’ve put a lot of effort into improving our short track program, and each race has taught us something new. The team has been making solid progress, and I’m feeling really good about where we’re heading. I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going and seeing what we can do this weekend at Richmond.”

ERIK JONES
NO. 43 DOLLAR TREE TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
12TH AT WATKINS GLEN: Jones rallied last weekend after starting 29th in Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen in Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. While he initially stayed running in the late 20s for position, Jones found speed and a solid strategy in Stage 2 where he was in the running for stage points on the last lap. Contact with another car unfortunately sent him off course and forced him to settle for a 18th-place result in Stage 2, but he was determined in the final stage to overcome this issue. He restarted the final stage in 37th but wasted no time in his pursuit. He was running 10th just 14 laps into the final stage and then used his pit strategy to stay out and run as high as third before taking his final stop. In a steady run toward the front in the final laps, Jones raced his way from 27th to 14th by the time he saw the white flag. On the final lap of the race, he avoided chaos among the cars in front of him to gain another two spots and finish 12th at Watkins Glen.

JONES RICHMOND STATS: Saturday night’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway will mark Erik Jones’ 16th NASCAR Cup Series start at the .75-mile oval. In his prior 15 starts, Jones earned a best finish of sixth in September 2017 after starting 10th. He has an additional four starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Richmond where he earned three top-five finishes. He never started worse than seventh in his Xfinity Series career at Richmond, earning the pole in April 2016. His best finish of second came in September 2016 where he finished 6.453 seconds behind Kyle Busch after starting fourth.

BESHORE AT RICHMOND: Crew chief Ben Beshore has been on top of the box for six prior NASCAR Cup Series races at Richmond. In his first four races there in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Beshore never finished outside the top-10 with his driver Kyle Busch. He has an additional five races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Richmond where he earned four top-10 finishes. His best result of second came in April 2023 with John Hunter Nemechek who finished .298 of a second behind race winner Chandler Smith after leading 11 laps.

EJ LATE MODEL RACING: In a month full of late model racing for Jones, he returned back to Michigan this week to take on Berlin Raceway for the Battle at Berlin. This will be Jones’ second start at Berlin in his late model this season. In June, he took on the Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway where he won the pole and finished fourth. This is the second of three late model races that Jones will run in August after racing at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. Fans can watch the late model race tomorrow night on FloRacing.com.

THE OSCAR PLUSH: Jones announced the launch of his latest Erik Jones Foundation project last month at Indianapolis Motor Speedway – the Oscar Jones collectible plush. Modeled after his four-legged best friend, the Oscar plush started to be sold at Indianapolis after a collaboration with Ultimate Canine, LLC. A portion of the sale of the plush will go back to the Erik Jones Foundation to support the funding of grants for its animal welfare pillar. Since its launch in 2021, the foundation has gifted more than $40,000 in grants to organizations promoting animal welfare and supporting the training of working animals. Fans can still purchase their own Oscar plush at ErikJonesRacing.com or at the NASCAR Classics merchandise hauler at the racetrack.

ERIK JONES QUOTE
“Richmond has always been an interesting place for us. It’s a very difficult short track that is very slick and really worn out, so it’s not easy to get your car driving good. It’s always a challenge, but now with the soft tire, it’ll be interesting. We’re limited on the sets that we get, so I don’t really know if there are enough for the race with how fast they’ll wear so we’ll have to do a lot of tire management to make it through the whole race. That should throw in a different kind of curveball for the race, but it should be fun to try to get through and manage that to see where you end up in the end.”

BEN BESHORE QUOTE
“Hopefully for Richmond, we can build on some of the things we learned at Iowa a few weeks ago. I know it’s a little different on the tires since Richmond has a ton of tire fall off. Strategy is going to come into play there. You’re typically on the fence of how many times you’re going to stop in each stage, so trying to play to how much tire fall of there is versus the amount of time you’re giving up on pit road. Whether the lap time gained is enough to overcome the pit stop time. There’s also always the risk of an untimely caution at a certain point in the race. We’ll be looking at all of that a lot. It’s a little bit of an unknown as they’re using that option tire from last year, but now we’re running it the whole race. You’re really going to have to manage your tires – so you can’t just fire off and go as hard as you can on new tires. If you do, you’ll wear your stuff out in 50 laps and be paying for it the last half of the run. The key is pacing yourself and having a car that is handling good so you’re not having to run hard to keep up. You want to be able to pace yourself a bit to have some tire at the end of the run to hopefully pass those guys that had to go too hard early.”

CLUB APPEARANCES:
Nemechek will visit the fan zone on Friday, Aug. 15 to participate in Family Feud at the NASCAR Experience Stage at 3:00 p.m. local time. He will also be at the NASCAR Classics trackside merchandise rig to sign for fans at 3:30 p.m. local time before visiting the Toyota Gazoo Racing display for a Q&A session at 4:20 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 16.

  • The 400-lap event will be televised live on USA Saturday, Aug. 16 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The 25th of 36 points-paying races on the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series calendar will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Channel 90.

Justin Haley – Driver, No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet ZL1

  • Justin Haley will pilot Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Gainbridge Super League Chevrolet ZL1 in Saturday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.
  • Haley has made eight previous Cup Series appearances at the 0.75-mile D-shaped oval in Henrico, Va., scoring a venue-best 21st-place finish in August 2022. In five NASCAR Xfinity Series appearances at Richmond, Haley finished in the runner-up position twice (September 2020 and 2021).
  • Last weekend at Watkins Glen International, the 26-year-old clocked the fastest lap in practice and raced as high as 14th. Haley was forced to settle or a 27th-place finish when severe tire wear in the last 20 laps limited his speed.
  • The Gainbridge Super League is a Division I professional women’s soccer league committed to expanding access to the highest level of the sport in the United States. Launched in 2024 and sanctioned by U.S. Soccer, the league is operated by the United Soccer League (USL). The 2025/26 season will feature nine clubs: Brooklyn FC, Carolina Ascent FC, Dallas Trinity FC, DC Power FC, Fort Lauderdale United FC, Lexington SC, Spokane Zephyr FC, Tampa Bay Sun FC, and Sporting Jax. • The 2016 ARCA Menards Series East champion owns one start at Richmond in the series. In 2015, Haley started sixth and finished 12th driving for late team owner Harry Scott, Jr.
  • Haley is one of just 41 drivers to have won races in all three of NASCAR’s National Touring Series. The driver of Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevy has collected one win in the NASCAR Cup Series, four in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and three in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.
  • Haley is a veteran of 168 Cup Series starts and has notched one win, five top fives, 16 top 10s and led 118 laps in NASCAR’s premier division. In total, he has made 68 Cup Series starts for Spire Motorsports, including his first start in NASCAR’s premier division at Talladega Superspeedway on his 20th birthday.

Justin Haley Quote
What is your outlook heading into Richmond this weekend?
“I really enjoy competing at Richmond. It’s always been one of my favorite tracks. The lack of grip from the old asphalt and short track feel makes the cars slide around and a lot of fun to drive. I feel confident we can execute a solid weekend in the Gainbridge Super League Chevy.”

Atop the No. 7 Box – Crew Chief Ryan Sparks

  • Ryan Sparks serves in a dual role as both Spire Motorsports Competition Director and crew chief for driver Justin Haley and was first paired with Haley at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in September 2024.
  • The Winston Salem, N.C., native has called 190 NASCAR Cup Series races where he’s earned three top-five and nine top-10 finishes.
  • In total, Sparks has called eight previous Cup Series races at Richmond Raceway and has a pair of 21st-place finishes with driver Corey LaJoie.

Michael McDowell – Driver, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet ZL1

  • The Glendale, Ariz., native has logged five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Richmond where he earned a series/venue-best eighth-place finish in the 2009 Lipton Tea 250.
  • For the second time this season, Workforce Occupational Health and Safety Solutions will serve as the primary sponsor aboard McDowell’s No. 71 Chevrolet. Workforce Occupational Health and Safety Solutions is based in Pittsburgh with partners throughout North America. For over thirty years, Workforce continues to provide support to clients through the operation of three divisions – Work Injury Management, Medical Bill Repricing and Employer Services. The Work Injury Management Division provides access to telephonic physician services with expedited access to a nationwide network of specialty, imaging and therapy providers – and employer access to OSHA recordable injury investigation and impact mitigation services, preferred medical provider panel development and more. The Medical Bill Repricing Division provides cost containment to clients by minimizing incident, experience, and injury frequency rates, reducing exposure to insurance premium increases. The Employer Services Division provides employee onboarding and testing services, corporate safety committee oversight, required annual certification coordination and integration of any required testing, licensing, or accreditation. Since 1995, Workforce’s mission is developing long-term partnerships with employers that facilitate successful and positive impacts on health and safety issues encountered by their employees at the workplace.
  • Over the first 24 races of the season, McDowell has tallied two top-five, three top-10 and 12 top-20 finishes. The 2021 Daytona 500 winner is currently 22nd in points, 44 markers below the playoff cutline.
  • The No. 71 team earned a $100,000 payday and a trip to Victory Lane after winning the Mechanix Wear Pit Crew Challenge during May’s NASCAR All-Star Weekend at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway. The crew’s blazing 12.587-second stop topped all entries for both the NASCAR All-Star Open and NASCAR All-Star Race, earning the title of the fastest team on pit road.
  • McDowell has claimed three Xfinity Fastest Lap awards this season, clocking the fastest lap in the Daytona 500, Phoenix Raceway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The team is one of just three in the series to tally three or more bonus points via the program.
  • The No. 71 team secured Spire Motorsports’ first Busch Light Pole Award at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. The 28.833-second lap marks the fastest lap recorded in NASCAR’s seventh-generation Cup Series car (2022-present) at the 1.5-mile Nevada oval. The team also earned Spire Motorsports’ first stage win during the Grant Park 165 on the streets of downtown Chicago.

Michael McDowell Quote
What are your thoughts heading into Richmond?
“Running Richmond on a Saturday night should be a fun race. The track temps are going to be different than what we see in practice on Friday afternoon, but I think our Spire Motorsports group has been in the game with our short-track package. We had the speed at Iowa, but those long green flag runs put us behind with some old tires and didn’t get the finish we deserved. I think we have a lot to show this weekend in Richmond, and I’m looking forward to getting to the track. I have been watching a lot of film and us, as a group, have put a big emphasis our simulator sessions, so I feel confident heading into this weekend and expect to have a good run.”

Atop the No. 71 Box – Crew Chief Travis Peterson

  • Travis Peterson serves as the crew chief for driver Michael McDowell and Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 Chevrolet ZL1 in the NASCAR Cup Series.
  • Peterson has called four Cup Series races at Richmond Raceway, all with McDowell in the cockpit. The West Bend, Wis., native guided his driver to a spirited sixth-place finish in April 2023.

Carson Hocevar – Driver, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet ZL1

  • Carson Hocevar will make his third NASCAR Cup Series start at Richmond Raceway in Saturday night’s 400-lap race. The 22-year-old driver finished eighth in his most recent outing at the venerable 0.75-mile D-shaped oval.
  • Hocevar’s most recent start on tracks measuring less than one mile in length came two weeks ago at Iowa Speedway where the driver of the Delaware Life Chevrolet started seventh and finished eighth to score his sixth top-10 finish of the season.
  • Delaware Life is an insurance and annuity company that empowers financial professionals with a wide array of customizable solutions. A subsidiary of Group 1001 Insurance Holdings, LLC (“Group 1001 Insurance”), our focus is to deliver a seamless experience for advisors. We’re passionate about equipping you with annuities that give your customers peace of mind and a successful future—allowing them to plan with confidence for whatever’s next.
  • The Portage, Mich., native has four previous NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Richmond. In 2023, Hocevar qualified 17th, lead 64 laps, and collected his third of four wins that season.

Carson Hocevar Quote
The No. 77 team’s short track performances have been strong this year. What is your outlook for Richmond this weekend?
“I enjoy racing at Richmond a lot. Last year I was able to move around and find different lines that worked for me based on how our tires were wearing. It was a lot of fun to move around and try something different. I feel like those are the types of tracks where I do well and can find something that works for me that may not work for someone else. I know we had the option tire there last year, and maybe that was what made the difference, but I still feel like I learned enough about how the track races to be able to put together a good run.”

Atop the No. 77 Box – Crew Chief Luke Lambert

  • Crew Chief Luke Lambert is set to call his 22nd NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Saturday night. He has combined for two top-five and six top-10 finishes with six different drivers.
  • The Mount Airy, N.C., native has called 69 short track races over his 13-year career in the Cup Series, resulting in four top fives and 19 top 10s
  • Lambert has been atop the box for 428 races in the NASCAR Cup Series and has racked up a total of 29 top fives and 98 top 10s.

He owns victories in two of the United States’ most prestigious Late Model races – the 2017 Winchester 400 at the half-mile Winchester (Ind.) Speedway and the 2018 Snowball Derby at the half-mile Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.

“Richmond’s a worn-out racetrack, and you have to be really disciplined to drive it low and come off the corner straight,” said Gragson. “Ever since my K&N days, we’ve had good pace there. It’s a real rhythm track, and hitting your marks is everything—if you miss the yellow line by even an inch, you lose about 30 percent of your grip. I like that challenge. It reminds me a lot of the old Atlanta, where discipline really pays off. We’ve had success here before, winning in 2021 in the Xfinity Series, and I’m looking forward to getting back and seeing what we can do this weekend.”

Sammy Smith Quote
Coming off a good finish last week at Watkins Glen, what are your thoughts heading to Richmond?
“I’m looking forward to racing with the No. 7 team again this weekend. Richmond is a place where you have to be aggressive, but smart. We gained some momentum last week at Watkins Glen, rebounding from damage late in the race to finish sixth. We’ll take that and look to put together a great race.”

  • The 50-year-old was atop the box for Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Cup Series triumph at the 0.75-mile circuit in 2012. Bowyer started fourth and led 88 laps en route to the duo’s second of three wins that year.

Rajah Caruth Quotes
Richmond is your home track. What is it like returning home and seeing all the people that come out to support you?
“It is great to return to Richmond. That is a really special place for me. Not only is it my home track, it is the place I saw my first NASCAR race and the site of my first national series start. Those are both memories I will cherish forever. So many people come out to support me that it is impossible to find time in the day to interact with every one of them. The volume of people that comes out is crazy. It is always good to get back to my roots.”

Richmond marks the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series playoff cutoff. What are you doing to prepare for playoff racing next time out at Darlington?
“Things are definitely starting to ramp up. I’m already in the mindset of taking things one race at a time, focusing on one track at a time and not looking too far down the line. Looking at last year, we left some points on the table that could have prevented us from moving on to the Round of 8, and eventually kept us out of the Championship 4. Overall, we are trying to limit the mistakes and be there at the end of the race. That allows you to maximize your points and have the possibility of snagging a win to automatically advance.”

Events DC is riding along on the quarter panel this week. They have supported your racing career every step of the way. What does that partnership mean to you?
“It is super special. To have both HENDRICKCARS.COM and Events DC support me in one weekend is really special. Without both of those companies, I would not be here right now. Events DC has done a Late Model race, an ARCA race and some Xfinity races for me. They sponsored some races with Alpha Prime a couple years back and Dover earlier this season. It is cool to represent ‘The District’ any time you have the chance. Hopefully we can get both HENDRICKCARS.COM and Events DC to Victory Lane on Friday.”

Corey LaJoie Quote
What are your thoughts heading into your second CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race of the season and first at Richmond?
“Richmond is a challenging race track. It feels like you’re going 30 miles an hour around there. Your inputs have to be precise and tire conservation comes at a premium. Chad (Walter) and I have made some gains in the simulator, so we feel like we are prepared to have a good run Friday night.”

Former drivers Mark Martin (1990), Jeff Burton (1998), Matt Kenseth (2002), Kurt Busch (2005), and Carl Edwards (2013) are responsible for RFK’s five Cup wins, with Buescher adding his name to that list in 2023, and a Jack Roush Cup Series Ford has led 2,633 laps at the .75-mile track.

Last Time Out & Where They Stand
Watkins Glen: Buescher 3rd; Preece 13th; Keselowski 31st.

Points Standings (17: 16th, 60: 17th, 6: 21st): Buescher sits 34 points above the playoff cutline, ahead of his teammate Preece for the final playoff spot. Keselowski remains 21st in the standings after earning five stage points and leading five laps at Watkins Glen.

Ford Teams Continue Push for Playoffs This Weekend in Richmond

RICHMOND

Friday, August 15 – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, August 16 – NASCAR Cup Series, 7:30 p.m. ET (USA)

The NASCAR Cup Series conducts its penultimate race of the regular season this weekend at Richmond Raceway, where three current Ford drivers (Chris Buescher, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski) have at least one victory. In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, which will run its regular season finale on Friday night, F-150 driver Ty Majeski is the defending race winner.

TWO TO GO IN REGULAR SEASON

Saturday night’s scheduled race at Richmond Raceway and next weekend’s event at Daytona International Speedway are all that remains of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series regular season. There are currently four Ford drivers who have secured spots in the playoff field – three-time and defending champion Joey Logano, 2023 series champion Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric and Josh Berry. Chris Buescher holds a 34-point advantage over RFK Racing teammate Ryan Preece for the final berth, but a new winner would knock him below the cut line.

BLANEY CONTINUES TOP 10 ROLL

Ryan Blaney has had speed all season and that was evident again last weekend at Watkins Glen International, where he qualified on the pole, won a stage and finished sixth. That marked his fourth straight top 10 finish, dating back to an eighth-place run at Dover Speedway. In 17 series starts at Richmond Raceway, Blaney has one pole, which came in the spring of 2022, and a career best finish of seventh, which happened on that same weekend.

RICHMOND ONE OF LOGANO’S BEST

It would be easy to look at Joey Logano’s two career wins at Richmond and say it’s got to be one of his best tracks on the circuit, but the statistics provide further proof. In 31 career starts, Logano has 14 top 5 and 19 top 10 finishes, which gives him an average finish of 10.0. That’s his second-best average finish on tracks where he’s run more than 10 races and includes a current stretch that has seen him finish seventh or better in seven of the last nine Richmond races.. The only track where Logano has a better average finish is Las Vegas, where his four wins and 14 top-10 finishes in 24 starts works out to a 9.8 average finish.

JOEY LOGANO: “Richmond is my favorite track to go to. I love it. It is a great racetrack. It’s fun to race because you have so much tire fall off that you have to be smart in how you race there. It seems like in the past we have put together a really good Ford Mustang for Richmond. I look forward to being strong there.”

RYAN BLANEY: “Looking forward to getting to Richmond. It’s a unique place. Penske always seems to run well there, the 22 especially runs well there. I am just trying to take all the notes that Joey has. I wouldn’t say it is my strongest track. I seem to have struggled there all through my career with a couple of glimpses of hope, but it is a place that we continue to work really hard on. You try to get better everywhere but especially the places that you might not be as strong at as others. I look forward to it. I look forward to what the tire is like, how the track is, and Saturday night races are always

fun. Hopefully, it goes well for us as we gear up for the Playoffs. We just have to keep building momentum with the No. 12 Ford Mustang. That’s the biggest thing right now.”

BRAD KESELOWSKI: “We are really pumped. We ran so well in Iowa. We hope that success will carry over. I have won there a few times and we’ve had some good runs. A lot of positive thoughts going into the weekend.”

CHRIS BUESCHER: “I laugh about it now because we have had a lot of really good runs at Richmond and we have been able to win there. But it wasn’t that long ago that I wanted

to fill the place with dirt and build apartments on it. I didn’t care; just make it go away. It was a struggle. We are not there at this point. We are well beyond that. We are to a point that we can confidently say, wherever we are headed to, we are excited about the speed we believe we will have and the opportunity to win.”

AUSTIN CINDRIC: “Richmond is a fun place, and I think it’s a great place to have a night race. It gives short track vibes even though it’s not technically a very small Saturday

night short track. It has those same feelings. I like going there. It’s very much a rhythm racetrack and very important to get all your things right with strategy and [tire] fall off and track position. It’s a tricky place and it’s one of my favorites.”

RYAN PREECE: “I’m excited about Richmond. I am going to go run the modified there on Thursday and that will lead into Cup practice and qualifying on Friday and the Cup race on Saturday. We call it a short track but it’s a big short track. I like racing there. The last time I was there in a modified we won, and it would be nice to do that again. For me, racing the modified before the Cup race can be pretty good. But at the same time, it can be an absolute challenge. I am hoping the work put in will pay off.”

BUESCHER CLAIMS FIRST RICHMOND WIN

Chris Buescher claimed his third victory of the season by leading 53 of the final 54 laps when he took the checkered flag at Richmond Raceway on July 30, 2023. Despite that dominance, he had to endure a late-race caution that brought the field back to him with nine laps remaining, resulting in one final round of pit stops. Buescher’s crew got him out in the lead and, after choosing the inside line, was able to get away from Denny Hamlin on the restart with three laps to go to claim the win.

A PENSKE SEASON SWEEP

Thanks to Team Penske, Ford dominated the 2014 season at RR as both Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski made it to victory lane. Keselowski clinched the top seed for the ensuing Chase with a dominating performance that saw him lead all but 17 of the 400 laps, including the final 274 circuits. The win was his fourth of the season and marked the third time Ford swept both NCS races at the three-quarter-mile track, and the first since 1997. Logano won the first RR race after passing Matt Kenseth with four laps to go to claim his fifth career series victory.

KYLE PETTY’S FIRST WIN

The Wood Brothers have 101 all-time NASCAR Cup Series victories and many of those have been first-time winners. Kyle Petty was that man in the mid-1980s and on Feb. 23, 1986 found himself in the right place at the right time. Driving the No. 7 Ford for Glenn Wood – the car carried that number because of sponsor 7-Eleven – Petty was the beneficiary of an ongoing battle between Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt. After Waltrip passed Earnhardt to take the lead with two to go, Earnhardt made contact with Waltrip and both cars went spinning into the wall. Others got collected in the aftermath, but Petty was able to get through unscathed and took the checkered flag under caution for his first series triumph.

RICHMOND REPEAT FOR MAJESKI?

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has its final regular season race on Friday night at Richmond Raceway and defending series champion Ty Majeski would like nothing better than to repeat his victory from a year ago. He ensured that this weekend would be a little less stressful after clinching a spot in the playoffs with a seventh place finish at Watkins Glen International last Friday. This marks the third straight season Majeski has reached the postseason with Ford and ThorSport Racing, and the fourth overall.

GARCIA AND RHODES ON THE BUBBLE

ThorSport teammates Jake Garcia and Ben Rhodes find themselves battling each other on the bubble going into the regular season finale. Garcia is 10th in the standings and holds the final playoff berth on points while Rhodes finds himself 11 points behind. A win by either would automatically put them in the field, but if there’s a new winner, both would likely be eliminated.

DraftKings and NASCAR share a longstanding relationship focused on enhancing fan engagement and delivering an exceptional fan experience. Earlier this season, NASCAR introduced the inaugural In-Season Challenge presented by DraftKings, a five-race competition designed to bring a new level of excitement to the sport. Utilizing a traditional bracket format, the top 32 drivers were matched in weekly head-to-head contests, with the field narrowing by half each round.

As the No. 32 seed, Dillon had an uphill battle from the start, but with perseverance and fight, finished the In-Season Challenge in second place. Throughout the Challenge, Dillon faced No. 1 seed Denny Hamlin in Round 1 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, No. 17 seed Brad Keselowski in Round 2 at the Chicago Street Course, No. 8 seed Alex Bowman in Round 3 at Sonoma Raceway, No. 12 seed John Hunter Nemechek in Round 4 at Dover Motor Speedway and No. 6 seed Ty Gibbs in the Championship Round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

DraftKings will make its debut with Kaulig Racing and the No. 10 Chevrolet for the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday, September 7, live on USA at 3:00 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SIRIUS XM’s NASCAR Channel.
