Zane Smith Set for Future Growth with Front Row Motorsports in 2023

Returns to NASCAR Truck Series and Will Make Select Cup and Xfinity Series Starts

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 25, 2022) – Zane Smith, the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Regular Season Champion, will return to Front Row Motorsports (FRM) in 2023 to compete in a dynamic schedule that will include defending his regular season championship with the No. 38 team in the NASCAR Truck Series. In addition, Smith will make his Daytona 500 debut with FRM as part of a plan that will include other NASCAR Cup Series starts for the organization as well as possible NASCAR Xfinity Series races in collaboration with FRM.

The plan is part of Smith’s ongoing, long-term agreement and plan for growth with the organization.

“We have been thrilled with the performance by Zane this season,” said Bob Jenkins, Owner, Front Row Motorsports. “We always felt that he was the next breakthrough star in the sport, and he has been proving that this season. We have a plan laid out for him and our next step will be to put Zane and that team in NASCAR Cup Series races where we know we can be successful. We also want to give Zane the opportunity to win more races and a championship with our truck series program, and we are excited to see what he will do next season.”

FRM will tap its potent NASCAR Truck Series team to prepare a third NASCAR Cup Series car and work with Smith during the select NASCAR Cup Series starts as an open car. FRM will support Smith with new business and marketing efforts for Xfinity Series races. Currently FRM does not have plans to enter its own Xfinity Series entry.

The FRM truck series team has led Smith to three wins, fifteen top-10, 10 top-five finishes, and the regular season title. Smith is currently second in points and is competing for the championship.

“Chris Lawson, his team, and Zane have really worked well together this season,” said Jerry Freeze, General Manager, Front Row Motorsports. “We do not want to change that chemistry, but also feel this team is up to the challenge with Zane to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series. We will be strategic as what races we select to enter. We want to allow Zane to highlight what many have seen him do this year at the elite level. We will announce those races later once the 2023 schedules are announced. Until that time, we are focused on winning the truck series championship.”

Smith has continued to add to an already impressive career on the track this season. He currently has six wins in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to complement his four ARCA Series wins. Off the track, Smith continues to be one of the sport’s most likeable personalities and is the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series Most Popular Driver. He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut earlier this year with an impressive 17th-place finish and is excited for what is ahead.

“Front Row Motorsports has a lot of great momentum now, not only with their Truck Series program, but also with their Cup Series program,” said Smith, a two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship runner-up. “While I’m 100 percent focused now on the Truck Series playoffs and racing to win a championship for our partners, I’m excited for what the future holds next season as I get the opportunity to also compete at the next level and continue to grow as a race car driver.”

Smith and the team return to the track on Friday, September 9 at the Kansas Speedway for the third playoff race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule.

Brandon Brown and Larry’s Hard Lemonade Reunite with Shades of Victory at Daytona

Talladega Race-Winning Sponsor Returns to Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro After Eight Month Hiatus

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 25, 2022) – Brandonbilt Motorsports (BMS) announces today the return of Larry’s Hard Lemonade as the primary sponsor for Brandon Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro during this Friday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race at the Daytona International Speedway.

After an eight month hiatus, Brandon Brown and Larry’s Hard Lemonade are set to make their 16th NXS start as a driver and primary sponsor duo. What first began as a single-race primary sponsorship during the 2020 NXS season opener at Daytona, quickly developed into a successful multi-race program which earned a total of two Top-5 and seven Top-10 finishes. The partnership also saw its first-ever NASCAR victory when Brown took the checkered flag in his No. 68 Larry’s Hard Lemonade Chevrolet Camaro at the Talladega Superspeedway on October 1, 2021. Following their victory, the partnership seemed destined for long-term growth and success. Unfortunately, that growth was stunted after Larry’s Hard Lemonade released an official statement on January 6, 2022, announcing their departure from Brandonbilt Motorsports.

“Many believe that Larry’s Hard Lemonade withdrew its sponsorship of Brandon Brown because of a disagreement between Brandon and myself, however this is something that I would like to address as false. Shortly after our Talladega win, there were a handful of new team affiliates who I felt were influencing some of the team’s decision making in ways that I did not agree with – and for that reason alone, is what ultimately led to the decision for Larry’s Hard Lemonade to withdraw its sponsorship,” said Vic Reynolds, Owner of Larry’s Hard Lemonade. “I recently became aware of the impact that our sponsorship termination has had on Brandon after reading an article which stated that he would be out of the No. 68 for the majority of the remaining 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, due to a lack of sponsorship funding which stemmed from speculation about Brandon’s character. This broke my heart to read as I know Brandon to be a talented race car driver and a great human being, whose character has been put into question over previous decisions that were out of his control.”

Reynolds continued by saying, “you can do a thousand great things, but one blip on the radar can drastically affect your entire life. This is something that I understand personally, along with what it’s like to be given a second chance – and I feel strongly that Brandon deserves the same opportunity to continue pursuing greatness. So, the decision was made to resurrect our Talladega race-winning paint scheme for this Friday’s NASCAR race at Daytona in the hopes of giving it a new meaning. Instead of people associating it with the events from the past, my hope is that it will now be seen as a representation of new beginnings and a fresh start.”

Brandon Brown and Larry’s Hard Lemonade head to Daytona International Speedway with a partnership-best NXS finish of sixth at the World Center of Racing and look to make it back-to-back superspeedway victories as the two have not partnered together for a superspeedway event since their 2021 victory at Talladega.

“I can’t wait to get back to Daytona (International Speedway) this Friday and have the opportunity to once again compete with Larry’s Hard Lemonade. We have a great superspeedway record together – especially with the car that we’re bringing to Daytona, because it’s actually our Talladega (Superspeedway) race-winning Chassis, No. 007 which we’ve decided to pull out of retirement this weekend for the special occasion,” said Brown. “I’m grateful to Vic (Reynolds) and Larry’s Hard Lemonade for continuing to support me through the ups and downs of my racing career. They’ve played a huge part in getting me to where I am today, and for that, I will forever be grateful.”

“Winning last year with Larry’s Hard Lemonade was a dream come true. It’s a goal that every race car driver has from the moment they start racing, but not all of us are fortunate enough to have that dream become a reality,” continued Brown. “Looking ahead to this Friday’s race at Daytona, I would love nothing more than to make that dream of winning become a reality for the second time and take Larry’s Hard Lemonade, Zero FG Energy and Fast Lane Media, Inc to Victory Lane with me as all three will be on the car and have helped to support me through the toughest financial period that I’ve ever experienced in racing. And since we’re racing in ‘The Sunshine State,’ which I know is a market that Larry’s Hard Lemonade has been looking to explore, my hope is that someone will hear our story and help me in trying to make their goals become a reality – much like they’ve done for me.”

The No. 68 Larry’s Hard Lemonade Chevrolet Camaro will make its 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on Friday, August 26 for the Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola at the Daytona International Speedway, with coverage airing live on USA Network at 7:30 p.m. ET.

About The Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company®

In 2008, at one of his famous backyard parties, Larry Wilson created a concoction in which he dubbed, “Larry’s Lemonade” and served it up to his family and friends. It was an instant hit, so Larry decided to team up with St. George Brewing Company to produce small batches of his beverage and have it served in their tap room. As word of Larry’s Lemonade quickly spread throughout Hampton, VA, he knew that he was onto something. From there, Larry’s friend Vic Reynolds (Owner of The Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade) knew that they could quickly upscale production and with the right marketing, expand the reach of Larry’s Lemonade. It was during this process that Bill “Senior” Ballou, a successful businessman, agreed to invest in their venture, to which The Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company® was born!

Burton, DEX Imaging Team Aiming High in Regular Season Finale at Daytona

In his debut run with the Wood Brothers, Harrison Burton drove the No. 21 Mustang into the lead in the season-opening Daytona 500 only to be collected in a crash that sent him airborne and prematurely ended a promising start.

As Burton and the DEX Imaging team return to Daytona International Speedway for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400, the goal is to pick up where they left off in February.

“Our first goal for the weekend is to run up front like we did the last time at Daytona, but this time keep all four tires on the ground,” said crew chief Brian Wilson. “The first trip to Daytona was a great start to the year for the No. 21 team.

“We qualified in the top 10, raced near the front in our Duel and led laps in the 500.

“The wreck in the 500 was unfortunate, but we showed that we can compete at superspeedway races.”

Saturday night’s race is the 26th and final event in the Cup Series regular season, the last chance for teams not already assured of a Playoff berth to win a race and join the 16 drivers who will begin the chase for the Cup Series championship.

Wilson said that despite the team’s struggles at times, the No. 21 DEX Imaging team isn’t conceding anything yet.

“As the regular season winds down we know that we’re still building and looking for more consistency in our program,” he said. “But this weekend presents a great opportunity to compete for win No. 100 for the Wood Brothers organization.

“We’ll look to work with our manufacturer teammates to keep Ford at the front on Saturday night.”

There will be no practice at Daytona this weekend. Qualifying for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 is set for Friday at 5:05 p.m., and the 160-lap, 400-mile race is scheduled to start just after 7 p.m. on Saturday with TV coverage on NBC.

Stage breaks are planned for Laps 35 and 95.

Notes of Interest

● There are more than 4 million miles of road in the United States, but none embody the love of driving more than famed Route 66. Yet the small businesses that are the lifeblood of the Mother Road need help. Mobil 1 aims to inspire a journey on the open road, specifically by exploring the small businesses of Route 66 and meeting people along its 2,400-mile path from the shores of Lake Michigan to Los Angeles, right on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Route 66 crosses the country, connecting not only east and west, but past and present. Mobil 1 aims to Keep Route 66 Kickin’ with its recently debuted Mobil 1 Muffler Man – an homage to the larger-than-life Muffler Men that dot Route 66. Molded in fiberglass and polyester resin on steel frames that stand 14- to 25-feet tall, Muffler Men became icons of the Route 66 landscape – square-jawed men with arms outstretched promoting the business on which they stood. Now, Mobil 1 is taking its Muffler Man to promote the small businesses of Route 66. Its journey begins Aug. 25 at California’s Santa Monica Pier before visiting Seligman, Arizona, on Sept. 10 to see the world’s most milkshake flavors at Delgadillo’s Snow Cap Drive-In. It then travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Sept. 24 to stand alongside the world’s largest corn dog at Clowndog Hot Dog Parlor before culminating its journey Oct. 9 in Litchfield, Illinois, to witness the most dogs attending a film screening at Litchfield Skyview Drive-In. Kevin Harvick and Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) are helping Mobil 1 kick off its Keep Route 66 Kickin’ campaign with a special paint scheme in Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

● When Harvick takes the green flag for the Coke Zero Sugar 400, it will be his series-leading 43rd NASCAR Cup Series start at Daytona. Harvick made his Cup Series debut at the track on July 7, 2001, starting 10th and finishing 25th, one spot ahead of his SHR car owner, Tony Stewart. In his 42 starts at the 2.5-mile oval, Harvick has won twice – the 2007 Daytona 500 and the 2010 Coke Zero 400 – and scored 11 top-fives and 16 top-10s while leading 283 laps.

● Harvick’s 11 top-fives are tied with Denny Hamlin for the second most among active Cup Series drivers. Harvick’s 16 top-10s are also the second most among active Cup Series drivers. Kurt Busch is the leader in top-fives (13) and top-10s (18) at Daytona.

● Harvick’s first NASCAR Cup Series win at Daytona was one of the biggest of his career. Harvick won the 2007 Daytona 500 by edging Mark Martin for the victory by .02 of a second in a frantic, green-white-checkered finish. It remains the second-closest finish in Daytona 500 history, trailing only Hamlin’s .01-of-a-second margin over Martin Truex Jr., in 2016.

● Harvick was efficient in his second win at Daytona. When he won the 2010 Coke Zero 400, Harvick started from the pole and led eight times for a race-high 28 laps to take the victory by .092 of a second over runner-up Kasey Kahne.

● Harvick has proven prolific in the non-points NASCAR Cup Series races at Daytona. He is a three-time winner of the Busch Clash when it was held on the 2.5-mile oval (2009, 2010 and 2013) and he is a two-time winner of the Duel (2013 and 2019), twin 150-mile qualifying races that set the field for the Daytona 500.

● Outside of the NASCAR Cup Series, Harvick has made 19 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Daytona and three IROC starts. Of Harvick’s 47 Xfinity Series wins, only one is at Daytona – the 2007 season opener. And Harvick’s best IROC finish at Daytona is seventh, earned twice (2003 and 2004). Harvick is a two-time Xfinity Series champion (2001 and 2006) and the 2002 IROC champion.

● The Mobil 1 branding on Harvick’s No. 4 Ford Mustang goes more than skin deep as the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand gives Harvick an added advantage. Mobil 1 products are used throughout his racecar and they extend beyond just engine oil. Power steering fluid, transmission fluid, gear oil and driveline lubricants from Mobil 1 give Harvick a technical advantage over his counterparts by reducing friction, heat and rolling resistance.Mobil 1 is a sponsor whose technology makes Harvick’s No. 4 Mobil 1 Ford Mustang faster.

Kevin Harvick, Driver of the No. 4 Mobil 1 Ford Mustang

You haven’t missed the playoffs since 2009. Is the key to that consistency your experience?

“Well, there are just different ways to race, right? There are different ways to solve the equation, and sometimes we’re going to run fourth, and we have to accept that and be able to say, ‘If we have a fourth-place car, we need to finish fourth.’ On the days when stuff is chaotic and there are cars torn up everywhere and you finish ninth with a 20th-place car, those are really big wins. I’ve done all that. I’ve been on that side of the fence where you’ve had 20th-place cars all year and you have to figure out how to make something out of it. They’re going to have the races, regardless, and you still have to show up. You can’t just quit because your cars are slow. So you just have to figure out how to manage that, and also manage it when you have fast cars, medium cars, know what you have that day and get the most out of that day.”

After one race already at Daytona and another at its sister track in Talladega, Alabama, do you have a good idea of what makes the NextGen car tick in the draft, or is there still a learning curve that’ll continue in the Coke Zero Sugar 400?

“It’s pretty straightforward now. It’s pretty basic stuff, and as we’ve gone through the first two races, you kind of know how hard you can push and shove, and things that you’ve done right and you’ve done wrong, so you should have a pretty good playbook at this point.”

Does blocking remain the necessary evil it’s seemingly always been when it comes to superspeedway racing?

“It is, and blocking’s just part of the game now. You have to utilize blocking and that’s usually what causes half the crashes, either pushing or blocking. And we usually wreck going straight. I don’t like blocking, but it’s a necessity. Blocking is something that has evolved over the years as people have figured out trying to time the runs, and people have figured out when you can block and when you can’t. It’s just a matter of putting yourself in a position where you think you’re making the right move, and sometimes you make the wrong move. It’s just a game of inches. It just really is a high-speed chess match that you have at 200 mph – and Saturday night will be absolutely no different. There will be a big crash. There will be mistakes made. There will be pit errors made. There will be strategy played. But I can promise you we’re all going to race in a pack – and that’s the way Daytona should be.”

What’s the patience level of drivers in the regular-season finale at Daytona?

“You see so many people on different agendas. It’s a chance for everybody to win. It’s a door wide open for everybody.”

Pack racing at Daytona is always dicey, but what is it like when it’s a cutoff race to make the NASCAR Playoffs?

“It’s a way different vibe. There’s not a better spot for it to be than Daytona because it is the ultimate saying – and you say it with an exclamation point – anyone can win, and that is never more true than at Daytona. Everyone knows going in that it’s their last-ditch effort to either make the playoffs or put yourself in position to score more points for the playoffs. Everybody kind of has that, ‘Screw it. I’m going for it,’ mentality in that particular race because they know whatever the scenario is, it’s the last chance to score points, it’s the last chance to put you in.”

Describe the intensity of racing at Daytona.

“You have to be aggressive just for the fact that if you’re not aggressive, it always seems like you’re not going to be where you need to be. Nine times out of 10, the aggressor is going to be the guy who comes out on the good side of things just for the fact that you’re making things happen and you’re not waiting for something else to happen. When you wait for something else to happen, that’s usually when you get in trouble because it’s usually someone else’s mess. It’s best to stay aggressive and try to stay up front.”

When you get to the halfway point at Daytona, is there a sense of accomplishment?

“I think as you look at it, if you can make it through the second stage, hopefully you’ve taken some points out of there, but you’ve at least made it through the second stage. It seems like, especially at the beginning of stage racing, we all kind of lost our minds at the beginning of the first stage, or at the end of the second stage. We’ve had cars torn up before we got started. We could find a way to wreck regardless, whether it’s the first stage, the first lap, the last lap. We can figure it out, you just never know when it’s going to happen.”

Kurt Busch To Miss Start of NASCAR Playoffs

No. 45 Team Remains in Owner’s Championship

Mooresville, N.C. (Aug. 25, 2022) — 23XI Racing announced today that Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 45 Toyota Camry TRD, will miss the start of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs as he continues to recover from an injury sustained at Pocono Raceway. Kurt’s health and well-being continue to be of utmost importance to 23XI and the team fully supports his decision to focus on taking the time to get better.

The decision will also result in the team withdrawing the medical waiver that was requested for Busch to remain eligible for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, should he have been cleared to return to competition in time.

Busch effectively earned a spot in the playoffs with a dominant win at Kansas Speedway in May. The victory marked Busch’s ninth consecutive year with a win and earned him a spot, at the time, in the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season.

While Busch will no longer be eligible for the Driver’s Championship, the No. 45 team will continue to compete for the Owner’s Championship.

“Kurt has elevated our entire organization this year,” said 23XI team president, Steve Lauletta. “Although Kurt will not be competing for a championship this season, he will continue to play a vital role in the organization as he works with our competition group to keep improving and strengthening the team.”

“As much as I wanted and hoped to be able to get back in the No. 45 car to make a playoff run with our team, it’s still not the right time for me,” said Busch. “In addition to not being cleared to return to racing, I know that I am not ready to be back in the car. I respect the sport of NASCAR, my fellow drivers and the fans too much to take up a playoff spot if I know I can’t compete for a championship this season. The decision was not an easy one, but I know it is the right thing to do. I will continue to take time to heal and strengthen as I prepare to be back in the car and will do all I can to help 23XI continue the success we have had this season.”

Ty Gibbs will continue to substitute for Busch and will be behind the wheel of the No. 45 Monster Energy Toyota Camry TRD this weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

About Daytona International Speedway
Daytona International Speedway is a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of The Great American Race – the DAYTONA 500. Though the season-opening NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention – as well as the largest audience in motorsports – the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, also known as the World Center of Racing, boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe. In addition to at least nine major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are also used extensively for events that include concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training. The iconic venue was the site of a host of motorsports events early in 2022, beginning with AHRMA Classic Motofest and the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA in January, and the 64th DAYTONA 500, which debuted the first points race for NASCAR’s ‘Next Gen’ car as part of Speedweeks Presented by AdventHealth, in February. The tradition-rich 81st Annual Bike Week At DAYTONA returned in March, featuring DAYTONA Supercross and the DAYTONA 200. May saw the “Welcome to Rockville” concert and the Heroes Honor Festival while during July 4th weekend, the track, in association with Torneos, hosted the first annual Daytona Soccer Fest. (August 25, 2022) The Wight Motorsports Inc (WMI) teams return to Quebec for round number 11 of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this Saturday August 27th. The setting is on the site of Mirabel airport in Mirabel, Quebec and Circuit ICAR. With only three races including this event remaining, WMI drivers are pushing hard for every position on the track and in the standings.

Like many road courses, Andrew Ranger has dominated at Circuit ICAR. The Roxton Pond, Quebec driver has won four of the previous eight races at the airport setting. Ranger is currently sixth in the overall standings but only three points back of third overall. Mark Dilley collected a top five finish on his first race at the unique ICAR circuit.

Rookie of the year standings leader Brandon Watson and Glenn Styres will each be making their first ever starts on the tricky road course that is said to race a lot like an oval track which should benefit both drivers.

Notes of Interest

● History at Daytona: Almirola scored his first career Cup Series win in the rain-shortened July 2014 race at Daytona, when he led 14 laps. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he started on the pole in his first Daytona outing in July 2007, and he captured a win there while piloting the No. 98 Biagi-Den Beste Ford Mustang in July 2016. Last year, he won his Duel qualifying race for the Daytona 500 for the first time in his career. Almirola also has three Daytona starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with a best finish of 12th in the 2010 season opener. Almirola finished fifth in this year’s season-opening Daytona 500.

● In the 2018 Daytona 500, Almirola was a half lap away from becoming a Daytona 500 champion. As he was leading the field to the checkered flag, he made an aggressive block on the No. 3 car of Austin Dillon before he was turned into the outside wall, ending his bid. In last year’s Daytona 500, Almirola showed strength by running at the front of the field on occasion, but his day ended when he was caught in a multicar accident on lap 190.

● Playoff Points: The No. 10 Ford driver sits 19th in the playoff standings, 219 points behind the top-16 cut line. With Saturday night’s race bringing the regular season to a close, Almirola and the No. 10 team’s only path to the playoffs is with a win.

● Driver Points: Almirola arrives at Daytona 18th in the driver standings with 560 points, 362 out of first.

● Almirola’s career: In 413 NASCAR Cup Series starts, Almirola has earned three wins, 28 top-five finishes, 91 top-10s, three poles, and has led 899 laps.

● Beyond the 10 YouTube Series: In 2022, Almirola is once again sharing his life beyond the No. 10 Smithfield Ford with season three of his award-winning YouTube series. Fans and media can subscribe on YouTube to see Almirola’s personality on and off the track. Episodes have already featured life as a dad, a husband and an athlete, and it gives fans a unique perspective on what goes on in the life of a professional NASCAR driver. Fans can also follow Almirola’s social media channels: @Aric_Almirola on Twitter and Instagram, and @AricAlmirola on Facebook.

● Almirola was the only NASCAR Cup Series driver to finish in the top-10 in this year’s opening three races. He finished fifth in the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, sixth at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, and sixth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Almirola’s top-10 streak ended with a 12th-place finish at Phoenix despite running inside the top-10 throughout the race.

● One More Time: On Jan. 10, Almirola released a video on his YouTube channel announcing his retirement from fulltime NASCAR Cup Series racing after the 2022 season. This year marks Almirola’s 11th fulltime Cup Series season. The official press release can be viewed here.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

How do you race this weekend knowing you have to win to make the playoffs?

“You take more chances and you put yourself in positions you wouldn’t typically put yourself in – especially when it comes down to the end of the race. Typically you try to win the race, but I think on a normal day if you can get out of there with a top-five finish and some good points, then you take those in and you always weigh out that risk versus reward. Right now, as we go to Daytona for the final race of the regular season, you’re willing to go with extremely high risk because the reward is extremely high. It’s the last opportunity to get in the playoffs.”

How do you formulate a plan with how tight the racing is at extreme speeds?

“You have different ideas multiple times per lap. That’s the crazy thing about superspeedway racing. I would relate it to a quarterback going up to the line of scrimmage and calling an audible once he sees the defense, but he’s going up and only looking at one defense. We’re on the racetrack with 39 other defenses and everybody else on the racetrack is making moves and you have to adjust what you’re doing. You have to react based on what they’re doing and you’re trying to make the move that’s best for you to put yourself in the best position. You’re constantly calling audibles and it’s mentally draining, but we’re trained for that amount of focus and concentration.”

What do you remember about Daytona growing up as a kid?

“Daytona is a home track for me. I grew up going to kart week with my family after Christmas and I remember seeing how big of a deal this sport is. To look back now, knowing that I made it and have had the opportunity to race here every year is humbling. It’s just a special place that kids dream of. To have turned it into reality is a dream come true.”

Amber Balcaen; Rette Jones Racing Stay Positive Heading to The Milwaukee Mile

WEST ALLIS, Wisc.: Praying for some luck.

After a continuous stretch of misfortune and heartbreak, ARCA Menards Series rookie Amber Balcaen and Rette Jones Racing invade The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile this weekend using every trick known to man hoping their luck will change in Sunday afternoon’s Sprecher 150.

The historic oval nestled in a suburb of Milwaukee completes a stretch of three races in seven days for the ARCA Menards Series tour and Balcaen hopes the 15th race of the season yields a finish that brings some much-welcomed momentum for the popular driver and team.

Last weekend at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International Raceway and the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) saw two opportunities for Balcaen to take the checkered flag. However, an erroneously attempted pass by a competitor landed Balcaen into the barrier wall.

Two days later in her return to dirt, the No. 30 ICON Direct Ford Fusion team was plagued by overheating woes that prematurely ended their day.

With six races remaining in her freshman ARCA Menards Series season, Balcaen has more than enough paid her dues in the heartbreak department and hopes the Sprecher 150 offers an opportunity to contend for her fourth top-10 of the 2022 season.

“I am excited about racing at The Milwaukee Mile this weekend,” said Balcaen. “It looks like a fun track and I know that my Rette Jones Racing team is going to bring me a fast No. 30 ICON Direct Ford Fusion.”

Even with her frustrating finishes, Balcaen has continuously been able to display speed including in the most recent races at Watkins Glen and Springfield – and this weekend on the one-mile track of The Milwaukee Mile, she expects no different.

“To showcase speed despite our bad luck has been really important for both me and our team to show that we are capable of top-10 finishes and having solid competitive runs,” added Balcaen.

“My goal this year has always been to improve and develop my skills as a driver and I know I have accomplished that despite what the results show. I know I continue to show more speed and ability as the races progress.”

As for the continued support around her, Balcaen has used the positive vibes from friends, family and fans to continue to hammer down behind the wheel and stay upbeat despite the continued forks in the road.

The support from my friends, family and fans has been incredible,” she mentioned. “It feels amazing to have so many positive and uplifting messages and support from everyone. They all know I can do it; we just need things to go our way.”

This weekend’s race in Wisconsin will again be a combined series race – with the ARCA Menards Series East division set to compete with the premier ARCA Menards Series.

Knowing that Sunday’s race can bring even stiffer competition to the race track, Balcaen doesn’t mind the challenge and is determined to use the knowledge of her team and resilience from the cockpit to deliver a competitive finish.

“We know we have to ability to be a top-five to a top-10 car; we just need luck on our side and things to fall into place. This weekend’s race will be a challenge, but like the challenges we’ve embraced all year, we accept it with open arms.

“I’m learning with every lap on the track and competing against some of ARCA’s best in both divisions opens the door for me to improve my craft even more and I’d like to showcase that in a big way on Sunday afternoon.

“I would be happy with a top-10 finish on Sunday.”

For crew chief and co-team owner Mark Rette, he is confident that his rookie driver’s positive outlook will pay dividends soon.

“Amber is not going to give up and when our luck turns for the better, she is going to deliver the finishes I know we are capable of,” offered Rette. “Everything that has happened over this ongoing stretch of races has been a learning experience and will help the program for the long term.

“It’s not been easy. It’s been a lot of work on our Rette Jones Racing team, but a lot of it hasn’t been her fault. We stand behind Amber and we’ll continue to take our battle wounds and press on.

“She did exactly what she needed to do at Watkins Glen and got cleaned out. A lot of teams, including ours, battled overheating woes at Springfield. We’ll reset once again and march on.”

ICON Direct will continue to adorn the primary positions on Balcaen’s race car in their 15th of 20 races this season.

ICON Direct is a manufacturer of high-quality plastic component parts for the RV industry, located in Manitoba, Canada. ICON aftermarket replacement parts are available through RV Dealers and Distributors across North America and directly through their website IconDirect.com.

The Winnipeger’s new endeavor at Rette Jones Racing will also be supported by Glenn McLeod and Sons – cementing a full Canadian roster of partners for her ARCA Menards Series rookie season.

Longtime RJR partners Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks will continue their relationship with the team in 2022 and serve as associate partners on Balcaen’s No. 30 ICON Direct Ford Fusion.

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

Entering Milwaukee, Balcaen sits sixth in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, 42 points out of fourth and 137 markers in the arrears to championship leader Nick Sanchez.

“I want to still put together some top 10’s and hopefully even some top-fives by the end of the season,” sounded Balcaen. “I know we have it in us. I think our bad luck streak must be over by now and I am focusing on the positives of the speed and progression we have shown.”

Trois-Rivieres (Quebec, Canada), August 25, 2022 – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is looking forward to completing his 2022 NASCAR Pinty’s season with victories. Having faced adversity at many levels since the first race this year, the #47 WeatherTech Canada Groupe Bellemare team is now adopting a new strategy: to give it their all in their hunger for  winning in the three remaining races of the 2022 season.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will bring this attitude to the starting grid of the last event on Quebec soil in 2022, the General Tire 125, this Saturday, August 27, in Mirabel, on the 1.12-mile road course North of Montreal.

Last year, the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car set the fastest time in the practice session, then finished third in the race. “We have done well at ICAR over the years, many podium and top-5 finishes, but we have not yet won a race at ICAR, so we want to make it happen,” said Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Currently seventh in the overall driver standings is not the position Louis-Philippe Dumoulin wanted to be in near at the end of the season. This situation does not detract from his determination to give his all on the track. “I really appreciate the organization and the people who work there and ICAR produces action-packed races, the fans won’t be disappointed! My current situation being what it is, I expect to put on a good show for those who will be on site.”

Since the ICAR round is usually held at the end of the NASCAR Pinty’s season, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was never in a position to push as hard as he wanted to on the short track, especially given the negative impact on championship points in case of an incident. “I’ve always been at ICAR in situations where I had to be careful and pick my battles, this time it is very different,” concludes the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car.

Saturday will be a busy day with a morning practice session, then an autograph session from noon to 12:40 PM and then qualifying at 2:00 PM in preparation for the race scheduled for 5:45 PM.
